Oh my God the rooftop swimming pool!!! I want to live there permanently!

I went to Shoreditch House last night for a literary event. We were only allowed to go to the Biscuit Tin room on the 4th floor but I managed to get to the rooftop to check the amazing views of the City and that famous swimming pool!

Just one word: wow!Oh my God the rooftop swimming pool!!! I want to live there permanently!

My biggest bug bear in strip clubs is being constantly harrassed by a stream of persistant girls harranging me for cash.

I managed to have a drink and chat with my friend with out being conhounded non stop by some ropey barely cunderstandable girl

I had a long chat and several dances with a lovely English girl and an hour in the vip with a beautiful russian girl who's name escapes me.

I fell out at closing after having a good night with my friends as well as the girls. I didn't feel harrassed or ripped off.

This is the best club if your just looking for a good time raving, dancing , drinking whatever you want with no nonsense!
Its not a glam venue, its a very basic looking smaller club. The staff are great, the clubbers are laid back, the drinks and entry are reasonably priced.
You won't find pretentious trend followers or WAG wannabes in this club.

I love the quirky retro interior, and all the nooks and crannies you can snuggle into, from the twoesome booths to the patio/balcony/barbecue area, and the roof terrace.

The service is excellent, with a fabulous selection of wines, and lovingly made cocktails. Food is good but not memorable.

A great place to go with a couple of friends when you want to relax and talk, and feel like you're being well looked after.

I underestimated this place. I was so impressed when I walked in I had to take a few minutes to snoop around. Firstly there's the main bar lavishly decorated with a collection of new and old movie memorabilia, the cocktails are good too. Then there's the Flamingo Room, a fun private function room for about 100 people with it's own bar. Finally, the basement club. The club promoters source dj's of the highest calibre from around the world. You'll hear anything and everything from soul to dub step, you're guaranteed a good night

Still going, still great. Comedy isn't quite the rock and roll option it was a few years back, and some of the stalwarts like this are the better for it. The punters are lively but not hostile, the bar is not overly priced and all in all you don't get much of a better night out for the money. Really recommend.Still going, still great. Intimate and surprisingly unpretentious, considering its location, Plastic People is one of my new true-blue favourites. Excuse the rhyming... but this place just about tops the list when it comes to favourite nightspots.

Quality music abound, Plastic People is well known among dance music lovers as a snug and mellow little boozer which specializes in dubstep, broken beat and house.

Open only on the week-ends, it's a relaxed little place and is much more welcoming than the majority of snotty Shoreditch bars which seem to cater to the plague of emo/indie/Hoxton "cool kids" which are inevitably a dime a dozen as soon as you walk up the Old St tube ramp. Have no fear though, there is no need to dodge stupid hair styles and bad vintage clothes once you cross Plastic People's doorstep - this is a poser-free venue :)

Be warned, though; it's a very dark and extremely tight little venue, so if you are claustrophobic, this is not the place for you. I was here last night for a record release party and I was flooded by long-forgotten memories of innumerable backpack hip hop jams I went to in my teens. Plastic People is friendly and warm with door and bar staff to match, but the service can be really slow due to the crush of people who flock to this little club on a regular basis.

Prices are average for the city, cashing in at about 3.20 for a beer and 4 for spirit/mixer.

I was first there for their monthly residency event "Rock 'n' Roll Cinema". It's a great way to spend Sunday afternoon after going to the Columbia Flower Market.

"Rock n Roll Cinema" happens the first Sunday of every month, it begins the afternoon with short films, served with popcorn by rollergirls. Java cakes and tea in the lounge, or you can have your pint as well.

After the films, there are usually bands playing, so it's a fiver from 2pm-midnight.

I was at this venue for another event, it was Â£10 admission just because Carlos for Dirty Pretty Things were suppose to DJ. Herbal is the kind of club that you either love or hate. I generally find myself here for some sort of drum and bass night and every time I go, I vow never to return, but for some reason the drum and bass community in London attaches a real significance to this place so I always find myself here.

The sound system at Herbal is incredibly powerful, so definitely bring a set of ear plugs. The downstairs room is primarily why I hate it there so much; when Herbal is overcrowded, this is probably the most miserable place to be. Hot, sweaty, smoky, sweaty bodies rubbing up against you, no place to move, an uneven dancefloor... but upstairs is really quite decent as they've redone it recently and when the weather is nice they have a great outdoor patio where everyone seems to gather when they'd like a break from the heat and noise. If you're lucky and you get to go upstairs to the VIP section, it's definitely the best part of the club. It's done in the same fashion as the upstairs room, but with a couple of leather couches. Exposed brick, candlelit, intimate - it's alright.

The bar is pricey (then again, it's London) but they do serve doubles as their bar standard, so ask for a single. The bathrooms can be pretty grim depending on how packed the club is but I guess that seems to be a normal thing in London.

In Herbal's defence, it always has a fabulous lineup regardless of what kind of music you're into.
