In these parts of Shoreditch itâ¬"s difficult to find somewhere to chill that hasnâ¬"t been embellished with street art or been given the trendy stamp.

Black & white memories of London through the times adorn the walls, blackboard menus, cotton & lace half way curtains, all add to the modest Victorian interior without going over the top. You instantly feel welcome and comfortable, but donâ¬"t be surprised if you find yourself surrounded by tea guzzling women having a good old gossip.

If you work in the area, they serve tasty and reasonably priced filled rolls, sandwiches and cakes; I recommend the steak roll washed down with a glass of Chegworth Valley apple juice or pick from a selection of loose teas.

Honest, service with a smile and even the receipts are stamped and hand written.

This is what i like. A huge, and i do mean huge, plate of food at a really cheap price. Thats what you can expect to get at Sam's Cafe. I have been to a fair few cafe's of this nature and have always come out feeling bloated and a little sick because of the fattiness and greasyness of the fry ups. For the first time, i don't feel like that with Sam's cafe. Although the food is fried and griddled, some how they manage to remove the greasyness of it. Now i only feel bloated and sick because of the quantity of delicious food i eat! Their coffee is also good for a cafe (but obviously not as good as a coffee shop!)This is what i like. I agree with the two previous reviews. It doesn't look great from the outside, but once you get past that and wander in, the amazing aroma of the most perfect coffee beans just hits you. It has a very cosy and relaxing atmosphere, i almost fell asleep once, it made me so relaxed! Didn't think coffee was meant to have that effect! It tastes so smooth and delicious though, a really creamy taste with even semi skimmed milk and their latte's and cappucino's are to die for! Prices are around average for a coffee shop and the service is also quick and friendly. love it!I agree with the two previous reviews. I love 'The Premises', for me its worth the travelling time for such fabulous food and coffee.

I very nearly scored this as four stars though, as already noted the service with one of the staff can be hit and miss! I've been served by them a few times, sometimes ok, sometimes you are left feeling as though you are beneath them in the order of life. You know who you are! No tip for you.

The food and the coffee is wonderful, there is a huge range to choose from and being a bit piggy, i've tried most. There is nothing here i don't like!I love 'The Premises', for me its worth the travelling time for such fabulous food and coffee.

Cafe 1001 has some good tunes to warm up the night with or to hit later on in the evening. It's quite grungy, but that adds to the atmosphere for the most part. It's quite laid back and the dancing is usually good. One piece of advice-- always keep your bag with you. Since there's no cover charge people go in just to steal bags and leave. It happened to a friend of mine while she was just a few feet away from her bag, so be careful!!

It's also a nice cafe during the day with nice baked goods and food in the always amazing atmosphere of Brick Lane. One of my favourite cafe's in london, amazing value, and you can see all food on offer, and is made in front of you. Eat in or take away. Love it! Reminds me a lot of a coffee shops in San Francisco. Very good feel to the place - relaxed atmosphere for hanging with with a good book, the paper, using your laptop or just whiling away the hours listening to the Dylan tunes they play. I've just (this Monday) moved into Brick Lane to work as our office has moved from Clerkenwell. I had a recommendation that this place was good and it didn't disappoint.

If you ever had the pleasure of going to the New Piccadilly Cafe and liked it, you'll love this place. While I was in there an American tourist walked out saying:

"I have only 4 must visit places in London while I'm here. This was 1 of them"

Not much to add to the other reviews here only that the service was really friendly. Lots of banter and chatter about 'Mum's home made chicken pie and her jam pudding' and a decent cuppa.

4 of us went and ordered Lasagne, Chicken Pie, Steak Pie and chips. With a side of cheesy broccoli. As the food landed, silence ensued. We hunkered down for a good feed and everyone loved it.

See you next week. We've found somewhere to replace our previous haunt.

This is part of a chain but they keep up the good quality in every branch. Great sandwiches and pastries. The coffee is not bad. I like they way they organize the chairs outside:

I've been going to this place for years. It delivers what can only be the best chili cheese burger i have ever tasted in the UK.

Jones Daily Cafe was a working Welsh Dairy a century ago. For quite some time now, it's a cute chirpy cafe with a shop attached.

Hidden in an archway located on one of the side street off Columbia Road, Jones Daily Cafe is a great start off when you visit the Flower Market on Sunday. The Cafe is cozy, home feel, high ceiling with bar styled tables along the side. There's a bookshelf beside that was a wall flyers of local galleries and happenings. The Cafe offers variety of freshly made baked goods, and sandwiches made from small producers from England and Holland, as well as your morning coffees, teas and juices.

I love to do a bit of reading here, although it could get quite busy at times. On busy summer days the young crowd spills onto the stone paved road outside, where the musicians are.

Just outside of the cafe is an oyster stand, fresh chucked oysters, love it! The shop is just around the corner selling top quality baked goods, breads, bagels and cheeses.

Great place to have a coffee or drinks. Films are shown from time to time and other art events are hosted ocasionally. They have a nice selection of organic beers and they also serve a limited selection of savoury plates. I tried a savoury pastry for lunch that didn't particularly excite me. However there are more stuff on the menu that looked like having "potential". On the whole it's a place definitely worth going and can easily turn into a favourite.
