I really love Frankie and Benny's restaurants. They have consistently impressed me, and this one just down from Canada Water tube station didn't dissapoint, either.

I went with a few friends after visiting someone in the area, and found it really enjoyable. The first thing about Frankie's you will notice is the unusual surroundings - it's like an old-time diner, with lots of random items on the walls, from bicycles to portraits of Frank Sinatra. The music also blares 50's type jazz swing as you enter, which is really great and sets the tone nicely.

The food is wonderful - I'm sure a lot of it will be frozen, due to the volume of customers, but it's all cooked freshly and not re-heated for you. I usually have the garlic ciabatta to start which always tastes really fresh and is utterly different from normal, frozen stuff.

For the mains you can get a huge selection of American/Italian stuff - pizzas, pastas, burgers, wonderful steaks, sandwiches, baguettes, etc. etc. It's all fresh, hot, and you can see the kitchen staff cook it since it's open plan!

The desserts are the last thing - and they're amazing! Big portions of spongey and syrupy cakes, tall glasses of ice cream sundaes and a general mishmash of sugary delights await you.

I'm afraid I can only review this restaurant as a takeaway, but it's a good 'un. Very local to me on Rotherhithe St and provides excellent Chinese food â¬ the menuâ¬"s got plenty of variety and although it doesnâ¬"t stray outside the standard Chinese takeaway selection, the qualityâ¬"s good and the portions are plentiful. Iâ¬"ve passed by the restaurant and it looks pleasant.

The staff take orders with terrifying efficiency on the phone and delivery never takes anything like as long as they say, so meets all my definitions of a good takeaway! food is slow to come but hot .
you might have a while to wait for a table as this is often busy.
idealy placed for the cinema , shopping or bowling (all within 5 mins walk).
quite tasty for what it is , and very clean inside.
freindly service and plenty of choice, only down side is they cant make simple alterations to many items on the menu as the spag bol ect comes ready made,(so you cant ask for plaine pasta ect for fussy children).
but on the positive side the drinks are bottomless(ie free refils)on pepsi,fanta,robinsons dilute juice ect
all in all not bad for a quick bite

Spa fish bar is a brilliant little number. Everything is freshley cooked to order,staff are wonderfull and well presented and customer service is top notch. I make make it a point to dine there at least three times a week and have recomended it to all my friends.

I used to love Costello's at Elephant & Castle but since it has been closed down this has become a close second. Owned by a previous business partner of the original E&C Costelloâ¬"s the menu is almost the same and the food is of the same great standard! Service is always with a smile and your always made to feel welcome.

Costello's is good for a friend get together, family meal, birthday celebrations etc.. I would recommend it any day of the week for any reason. Unlike many pubs in the area very 'look at me' and 'dont talk to each other' this is a local friendly boozer with live entertainment, land ladys a real gem. This is everything a neighbourhood restaurant should be - friendly, intimate and with a short (but stunning) menu.

The Yellow House is an Italian restaurant in SE16. Actually, it may be the ONLY restaurant in SE16, if you discount Arbuckle's and Pizza Hut.

The outside is a garish yellow (hence the name) but the inside is much more soothing, in reds and dark wood. There are probably less than 30 covers, and the place is full every night it opens (currently Wed PM - Sun brunch).

The menu is bijou: Half a dozen starters, half a dozen mains, and eight or so pizzas from the wood-fired oven. There are also usually several bits of paper floating round with a few specials on, plus the daily-changing dessert menu.

There's a similar scattiness about the wine list, which comes supplemented with a 'special wine list' and another bit of paper - presumably with really, really special wines on.

Luckily, the quality of the food makes all that wanton tree-destruction quirky, rather than irritating. On our last visit, the boyfriend and I had between us an oyster and asparagus soup; asparagus and parma ham with a satsuma hollandaise; entrecote and chips; venison with parsnip crisps; and an assiette of chocolate.

Of those, the only bum notes were the satsuma hollandaise (didn't taste of satasuma - and why would you want it to?) and the parsnip crisps, which I suspect are done to make the chef feel 'chef-y' rather than to enhance the dish.
