I love this place for meeting family and friends.

Lovely dining area for really good food prepared by some talented chefs.

A huge blackboard in the dining area is always full of delicious seasonal dishes.

The Anglesea has a great wine list and a fine selection of whiskys.

There is small seated area on the pavement to catch summer sun. In the winter a seat by the open fire is hard to beat!

Really friendly staff.

Can get full of some right knobs though.I love this place for meeting family and friends.

We needed to stop off somewhere to relax and eat after driving down from Newark via Blenheim Palace before driving onto the Royal Albert Hall to see the King and I,
We picked The Black Lion because basically it had a car park, was 500m out of the congestion zone and had a good write up, we emailed and promptly got a reply with copies of their menu and wine list.
On arriving we found a lovely little pub near the river adorned with flowers in baskets & planters, food excellent and good portions, maybe a little pricey considering the dÃ©cor was a little tired and dated but we found the staff very attentive and friendly.
We would recommend this pub for a pleasant meal and riverside walk and would have no doubts in returning

A real cool hangout, but without any pretensions so that everyone feels welcome - on the day I visited there were trendy arty types, mums with kids, & office workers all enjoying the great food & atmosphere in the Bar. Best of all is the Terrace overlooking Hammersmith Bridge & the Thames - the food is great & really well-priced, making a change for London! What a delight this bar is... the staff are friendly, the atmosphere is welcoming and the food is OH MY Word!! The latest edition to the bar, of the leather sofas adds tthe feel of the place and I found the collectors card to be an unexpected bonus.

Admittedly the prices are a little more â¬Stop endâ¬ than those of some of the bars that you would find in Kings Street â¬ but then again, so are the cliental!

Last night a friend and I went along to Wednesday's 'acoustic night' held in The Regal Room on the top floor of this attractive Hammersmith pub. I didn't get much of a look at the busy ground floor bar as we passed through it, but The Regal Room upstairs was a cosy function space with dark wood panelling, groovy flock wallpaper, candles, and chairs and tables which appear to be reservable in advance - though we're not sure how one goes about doing this. Getting there shortly after the doors opened at 7.30pm, and intending to eat before the music started circa. 9pm, we both ordered beef burger and chips with salad - delicious, although it was so dark in there we could barely see what we were eating, and it took a wee while to arrive. Drinks were reasonably priced too.

The music started earlier than expected, with an extra act squeezed in before the usual start time. Four other performers followed, each playing three songs each before an interval. After the interval, the idea is that they all come back on again and play three more songs. This proved a brilliant way of doing things, as it allows those with a long journey home or an early start the next day to enjoy all the acts before slipping off prior to the second half. All too often I've been to these kinds of music nights and, as a commuter, have had to leave without ever catching sight or sound of the lead act.

I was glad I got to see all the acts, too, because on the whole they were very, very good. In view of this it's amazing that entry is free. Yes, FREE! Presumably the attraction for these well-above-average acts to perform in front of a non-paying audience must be because it's filmed live as a webcast and beamed around the planet. We especially enjoyed Lizzie Dean and her amazing band. With a huge voice and a disarmingly modest manner, she sounded like a cross between Lisa Stansfield, Annie Lennox, and The Brand New Heavies - not at all what one expects at a free gig.

I see from their website that other music and comedy events are held throughout the week at this venue, and I'll definitely be going again. The only fly in the ointment was an inconsiderate couple that we had graciously allowed to share our table (all big bones, big hair, big beers, sappy smiles and smooching lips) who didn't pause to wonder if they might be both crowding our dinners and blocking our view. I have a certain fondness for pubs along the Thames, especially those with a beer garden - and the Crabtree has an absolute cracker. It's huge.

I've been here a few times and when the weather is right, I imagine it's pretty hard to beat - especially with a big group.

I understand on Sunday's they do roasts (winter) and bbq's (summer) - although I haven't tried either. Both occasions I have eaten there I have been somewhat disappointed, but I wasn't really going for the food.

A decent enough selection of tap beers, service was pretty/very slow last time I was there - granted it was quite busy.

It's a bit of a hike from the tube station.

Conclusion: All in all a great place to spend an afternoon in the sun* with a frosty cold beer or three.

I was disappointed. Nice waitresses but zero attention to detail, having ordered a very nice bottle of bubbles we had to request an ice cooler. Food was ok but not fantastic. One the plus side there is a well heated garden for all you smokers, but I wouldnt rush back, over priced and over-rated.I was disappointed. this is possibly the worst pub meal i have had. the bar itself is very cosy and nice. however, the staff act as if you are disturbing them by wanting a drink (not that they even knew how to make a Bloody Mary), they then served my pie with none of the veggies or anything, i then complained and was bought out a bowl of very unappetising mashed potato (still no beans etc). my friend was over charged (refunded), but her 'green salad' consisted or a couple of lettuce leaves, one tomato, and one gerkin.

Dont go here if you want a nice pub meal. The Thatched House is a large pub in a mainly residential area. On a cold Saturday night it was surprisingly quiet, especially after leaving the packed Anglesea Arms. I've popped in and out of the Dove for years now and it never disappoints. It seems to be able to maintain it's position as a neighbourhood/local pub despite it's great location on the river and the fact that it is a "destination" pub.

For those of a patriotic leaning, "Rule Britannia" was composed there in the 18th Century.

My useful tip: Turn right immediately after entering the main door, open the door facing you and you will find yourself in the tiny snug bar. If there are more than four or five people in there, you won't be able to get in!I've popped in and out of the Dove for years now and it never disappoints. Great food, friendly staff and a beer-garden that catches sun all afternoon! If you are looking for a relaxing laid back lunch I would highliy recommend the Bridge.
