We love this restaurant on our estate - what a treat to pop in during the week when there is nothing in our fridge and have authentic pasta, a friendly welcome and a glass of wine. Or a Saturday outing with friends, especially if they have Italian connections. Last week we took a visiting Venezuelan (of Italian extraction) and she was delighted with the sea bass and asparagus risotto. A few months ago we took another Latino (again with roots in Italy) and he became very nostalgic when he saw the featured region of the month was his family's home province. Amazing!
The whole experience of sitting on a little candle lit balcony inside the restaurant over looking everyone else dining below was fantastic.
Food was 5 out of 5 definately would reccomend and i'll definately be going back.
Reccomend garlic mushrooms or asparagus as a starter and the sea bass fillets for a main. Didnt have dessert but friends had tiramisu and said it was heavenly. The Value was so good i offered to pay for the whole bill (unlike me usually, being a broke student), 3 starters 2 mains and 1 dessert = Â£29 excellent value for what you get, taste is delicious and presentation is great.
GO, GO, GO is all i can say!Amazing!

Having just been to China and enjoyed some genuine Sichuan cuisine, we came to Angeles expecting something greatâ¬¦ The trouble was that there were two menus: one for â¬Swesternersâ¬ (i.e. us) and one for Chinese. When we asked about the difference between the two menus, we were told that ours was simply a translation of the Chinese one â¬ never mind the fact that we couldnâ¬"t find a single dish on our menu that matched anything that anyone else in the restaurant was eating. When our food turned up â¬ surprise, surprise â¬ it was the usual western â¬SChineseâ¬ fare â¬ boring, boring, boring. I go to the Geeta every few months and have been going for over 15 years!

The food is generally very tasty although the portions are rather small but then the prices are small as well.

My favourite is the Masalla Dosai which are the best I have had in London.

Unfortunately the ambiance is not that encouraging and its more of a place for a very tasty meal out at a very reasonable price rather than a romantic evening out.

Tried this restaurant after reading several reviews and was not disappointed. Menu was varied with several house specials, all freshly cooked to order. Food tasted delicious and service was fantastic. Definitely one of the best Italian restaurants I have eaten in and very reasonably priced. Having read mixed reviews about Penk's the wife and I decided to make up our own minds. Situated on Salusbury Road a stone's throw from the Underground, it's directly opposite the Salusbury, a great pub which invites a quick libation before crossing the road for dinner.

The food was wonderful. We both had the soupe Marseillaise - akin to a bouillabaisse - to start, which came with its own rouille, some grated parmesan and 'a crouton'. Highlights were the scallop bits lurking inside - yum.

Madame had the pork belly, I had the Longhorn steak. Both were beautifully cooked, with my beef rare but with a chargrilled exterior - so tasty, and the pork belly really succulent and served with perfect crackling and an apple compote. Salad, spinach and chips on the side, all given individual attention (chips lightly browned, spinach al dente).

Pudding was a shared creme brulee with plum compote at the bottom. Just the right amount of effort required to break the crust, and not too sweet.

All washed down with a bottle of Chateauneuf 03. Service was friendly & attentive, with good-humoured staff making sure we wanted for nothing.

The food is excellent, the wine is great value and the staff are amazing. It's not really Italian in the typical style, I think the owners are Macedonian. I love spicy Indian food recently I discover this place through www.thisislondon.co.uk from the Evening Standard, Restaurant critic Fay Maschler recommended this place, that tempted me to order a takeaway delivery from them Wow, what can I say about this place. The food is simply stunning, top top quality at a great price (especially the â¬ÜChicken Kushbuâ¬" very aromatic flavoured), and a nice change from the standard "British curry house" fare. Great value for money .The portions were a good size and we were not left feeling hungry at all!
Would definitely go back and recommend others

Table service style cafe (although they also offer takeaway) with a large menu of Chinese and Thai based dishes. Service was, as the name implies, extremely speedy - my two dishes arrived within five minutes of having sat down and the portions were very large. Very disappointed with the standard of service here. The staff did not have a good grasp of English and it was very difficult to get them to understand what we meant if we asked any slightly unusual questions. Anyway, we had a mixed kebab for starter, a very spicy chicken jalfrezi for the main, with egg rice and a keema naan on the side of it. The meat was not very tender so we ended up with digestive problems afterwards. The keema naan was awful. I thought there should be meat in that?! I would not at all recommend anyone to eat here, and would give obviously not go there again myself!Very disappointed with the standard of service here. We have been to this curry house a few times, and we always feel that we do not get quite enough food. This is particularly true of the rice, but they have the best naan breads on the planet! We do however love their take away service. They seem to give us so much more food. When we order for 2 people, we get so much that it could probably feed a third person as well! In fact, one of us always has the extra for lunch the next day. The prices are very reasonable as well, and I can whole heartedly recommend this place to all. I have to admit that I have no knowledge of Sri Lankan food and that I would make the mistake of amalgamating Sri Lankan food with Indian food.
So when I heard that not too far away from where I live is a Sri Lankan restaurant I decided to walk over there and order some take away.
Elephant Walk is a small sized restaurant that is clean and spacious. What it slightly lacks in decoration to make it feel different from most London restaurants it makes it up with a friendly staff and incredibly tasty food.
I ordered the following:
* Devilled Lamb (Â£6.50) - A dry dish of lamb marinated in ginger, garlic and green chillies tossed and cooked with spices and capsicum & sesame.
* Dry aubergine curry (Â£3.50) with tamarind base
* Basmati rice (Â£2.25)
The Devilled Lamb was incredible. Perfectly cooked and tender. It was hot but not too spiced. Associated with the dry aubergine curry and basmati rice was simply delicious. I understand why Charles Campion rated the Elephant Walk as "One of the three best new comers in London" and why it won the Cobra Good Curry Award as the best Sri Lankan Restaurant in the UK.
As you can see from the prices above they're already very competitively priced but they also have a 50% discount on selected days during the week. I also understand that they have a function room downstairs which can be used for large groups dinning out or for parties.

Not sure about the food, but the beer here (Urquell, Budvar) is fantastic.

Feels like going into a working men's club (old school - not too many of these type of places still in London) and at the same time, like stepping into Eastern Europe (in a good way). Pictures of ice hockey players abound, and bright lighting, but, at least for me, that's just part of the appeal.

Also try the Beckerovka (spelling?) a medicinal Czech digestif, similar to Jagermeister, which is apparently a cure for stomach ache.

I have been in London for 7mths and have been searching everywhere for a decent Indian place, after many less than average places and a decent amount of money wasted I finally found the perfect place and after being back more than a few times it is definitely worthy enough to recommend.

This restaurant has a warm genuine feel the moment you walk in the door, the decoration is not the usual Indian attire, rather this place is quite bright and snazzy,has a nice classy feel and all of the staff are friendly and helpful.

The menu is quite extensive and if you need some ingredient change they are more than happy to try to accommodate. The prices are also very comfortable on the hip pocket as well.

Overall this place is great for a romantic dinner or a nice outing with a bunch of friends.
