Beautiful food and setting makes a meal out a luxurious event.

The spices are delicate and well balanced. Even when hot you can actually taste all the flavours not just feel a burning heat.

Well worth ordering fish and seafood dishes so that you can experience how to complement with spices rather than killing the flavour that you find with fish in many Indian restaurants.

Good mixture of british food and ingredients in their menus just approached with modern Indian freshness.

Cocktails are a must. Real luxury treat in the bar. Best I've even had.

I am surprised that 11 people have sung the praises of Tate Modern, but its poor relation, Tate Britain, seems to have been ignored so far. I wonder why this is - the building is arguably much more beautiful, dating from 1897, on a site previously occupied by a prison. What's not to like? The riverside at Millbank is calmer, the pace more relaxed for visitors, giving stellar views towards Westminster.

As for the art, some of my favourites are housed in the permanent collection here: John William Waterhouse's 'The Lady of Shalott', John Singer Sargent's 'Ellen Terry as Lady Macbeth', 'The Bath of Psyche' by Lord Leighton and some noted works by Stubbs, Gainsborough, and Hogarth. Just as impressive as the feted exhibitions in the Turbine Hall, and the surroundings are a great deal more peaceful!

The gallery comes alive on the first of every month with special 'Late at Tate' evenings, designed to correspond with the main exhibition going on at the time. There are usually free talks, live music, djs, half-price admission to the paid exhibitions and lots of fabulously artsy, liberated (drunken) people to watch.

It might not be as famous as Tate Modern, but itâ¬"s definitely not the fusty older sibling, either. Definitely worth a look - many, in fact. And if you still prefer the other one, you can always hop back on the river boat linking the two.

Having stumbled on this place after finding 'Nutmeg' down the road closed and crumbling, Goya delighted our party with witty, friendly service.

Our Spanish was much improved by the attentive waiters, but there seems to be an issue with sugar in this restaurant: the Sangria was too sweet for my taste, and the 'crema' that arrived for dessert must have had an inch of uncarmalised sugar on it. The rest of our tapas was ample, served quickly and tasted fresh.

I was impressed by my experience; I'm a huge fan of Italian food and this hits the spot. The restaurant has been completely renovated and now has a fun but not over the top modern atmosphere.

The food is carefully presented and seems lovingly prepared, but without too much fuss. The menu was rammed with Italian specialities and it was a menu that begs you go back before you have even completed your first meal. I had a simple faggioli soup and then grilled monkfish with potato and beetroot cake, which was succulent and tasty. I was especially intrigued by the wild seasonal mushrooms on toast and want to try that next time.

The staff could not have been friendlier, so all in all the package was a good one. This pub ticks all the boxes as a tip-top local pub: quiet, always a seat, no music, great beer, a sense of community and fun characters to watch. I even spotted a chap drinking from his usual pewter mug (presumably in his usual seat too).

This is a Samuel Smith pub (nothing to do with John Smiths, despite the rumours) so everything is furnished with their traditional brand and quality. The Oatmeal Stout is well worth trying...close your eyes and it feels like slipping back into a bygone era.

Pub food looks pretty basic but traditional. Will report back on that one.

If its an old fashioned local you are after then this hits the spot. Last poster, I cannot believe how incorrect you are. Been to a lot of fish & chip places in London and most of them serve you with fish which is at least 2 days old, soggy and disgusting.

Not this place. Originally recommended by a resident friend, I managed to get most of my department's colleagues hooked on this little takeaway. Fish quality has been EXCEPTIONAL every time we've been there. I can honestly put a hand on my heart and say its the freshest fish I had from a fish&chip place in London.

Wilton's in Victoria? I hope you do not mean Seafresh on Wilton Road which is just opposite our offices? Looks nice and modern - crap fish. We prefer to go for a 10 minute walk down to Halibutts, thank you very much. Usually we order skinless cod & chips, which is out of this world (make sure you phone and pre-order, then just collect or sit in and eat. The Apollo Victoria Theatre is the current home of the London production of Wicked.

We went with friends last night - it was fantastic!

The theatre itself is a beautiful example of the art deco style. Inside they are in the slow process of refurbishing and retuurning it to it's former glory. For some reason in the past everything was covers in brown paint but they have already uncovered some beautiful features.

The show was OMG amazing. I was a little dubious beforehand (we were bought the tickets) however I definately left covered in more than a little Oz Dust!

I won't go into too much detail as I would hate to ruin the surprises, but is is essentially the story of the good witch Glinda and the Wicked Witch from the original Wizard Of Oz - where they were from and why one is good and the other Wicked!

The set, lighting and production values are all very good indeed. The performers very talented, and the show very entertaining. This show will run and run - last night, a normal Thursday and they still get a standing ovation!

Seafresh Fish Restaurant - Seafood - plain, simple & excellent by Hugo

I was confused because SeaFresh has undergone a make-over since I visited many years ago. It is a famous spot for where cabbies meet politicians...apparently. In its new guise (whenever that was) it is now modern and very simple decor but in a cheesy 80's way. Quite an unlikely looking environment but then there is only one reason for coming here and that is to have fish, simply done and fresh. Period.

I sense the most popular thing on the menu (looking around) is a rather good classic fish, chips and mushy peas. However, I tucked into a terrific set of sardines, which really hit the spot. I plan on going back to tuck into more adventurous things and i seem to remember that the fish soup is a classic.

If you love fish then you will love this place.

We stayed there last night and we're disgusted. we paid Â£75 for a triple room which was a case of cramming a double and single bed into a tiny room. Upon arrival we were starred at by a foreign sounding man at reception who clearly did nt want to be there. he shoved a piece of paper at me to fill in to check in. He then said we were in the other building so taken outside and pointed in the direction of a wooden door next to some sort of kebab house. we were warned to be careful as they accept no responsibility for any loss which set alarm bells ringing. we got inside where it was just 3 floors of corridors and went down to the basement where our room was. once inside, we found the smoke detector was stuffed with toilet roll, the last guests rubbish was left on the dressing table, the beds didnt match and the window didnt lock. the plug was clogged in the shower so kept having to turn it off to avoid completely flooding the bathroom. the tv had 1 channel which played across numbers 1-4 and 5 didnt work. outside the window was masses of rubbish, disgusting. amazingly when we came back from our night out we still had all our belongings which we really did not expect. the room was freezing though and the only bed covers were a sheet and a felt blanket so no good nights sleep. i would not recommend staying here...We stayed there last night and we're disgusted. we paid Â£75 for a triple room which was a case of cramming a double and single bed into a tiny room. When will someone open a world class Italian Deli in London instead of this type of disgraceful establishments.

M&S sell better Parmigiano than nearly all Italian delis in London including Camisa ,Terrone ,Luigis, Lina Stores et al

It's sad to say that many of the first or second generation of Italians imigrants who opened these establishments prospered on the ignorance of the local market but the UK has made huge gastronomic progress in the last 15 years. Selling too young Parmesan and inferior Procuito crudos will not cut it anymore.

Why don't they look at Peck in Milan or Valvona & Crolla in the capital of bonnie Scotland as benchmarks......This place is poor and be sure to check the sell by date on anything you buy.

Me and a few college mates and our lecturer wanted to find somewhere near Victoria that is fairly cheap and were recommended this place for their happy hour drinks. It's just off Wilton road and about 5 minutes walk from the station which is handy for stumbling home.

Happy hour is between 5 and 8. They have a small selection of cocktails for Â£3.50, bottles for Â£2 and wine. We sure did make the most of Â£3.50 cocktails! I recommend the spicy nut, yummy cinnamonny goodness :D

About the place, it's not especially nice. They have comfy seats and their clientele is fairly young. It could be a student's pub really. I'm not sure if it is but it gave the impression of being a bit grotty aswell. When I went, their women's toilets were out of order so the male toilets became unisex toilets. Totally disgusting in there! It was quite funny watching the women who came out who all had a funny expression but I don't want to go through the experience of that again! Let's carry on with the worse news - it's much, much too small. I'm certain that if they had double the room, it would still be reservations only!

That's because the food is wonderful, and the staff are really friendly. My sushi background had started with the obvious chains but this is a clear cut above in terms of quality. The only complaint was that, on the day we went, they didn't have any toro... the reason being that they only use fresh fish and their supplier hadn't had any tuna that morning. The lady serving us, however, was quick to suggest a replacement which broadened by experience with sushi.

It's an easy walk from Victoria station, but hidden down a flight of stairs from Stratton Ground market (opposite the book stall, the day we were there.)

An unusual and charismatic shop that is a pleasure to potter about. Mainly known for its book binding it also has an intriguing collection of hand-made stationery including, folders, albums, diaries, guest books, journals and writing paper. They also seem to import their own classic beautiful Japanese paper and then use it in their products.

They also do picture framing, which was the first reason why I went in but will be remembering it for Christmas, special occasions and personal treats.

The shop itself is a little wonderland and you can tell that they are passionate about what they do.

The bookbinding is not something I know anything about but they have an air of eminence about their activities. The website expains..."Shepherds is home to two of London's oldest and most prestigious bookbinding companies, Zaehnsdorf (est.1842) and Sangorski & Sutcliffe (est.1901). The binderies were taken over by Shepherds in 1998 and the bindery now trades under the single name of Sangorski & Sutcliffe.
These two old London binderies are widely acknowledged as two of the most important hand-bookbinding companies of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries."....blimey. The bookbinding is not something I know anything about but they have an air of eminence about their activities. The website expains..."Shepherds is home to two of London's oldest and most prestigious bookbinding companies, Zaehnsdorf (est.1842) and Sangorski & Sutcliffe (est.1901). The binderies were taken over by Shepherds in 1998 and the bindery now trades under the single name of Sangorski & Sutcliffe.
These two old London binderies are widely acknowledged as two of the most important hand-bookbinding companies of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries."....blimey. When I need a book binding I will know where to turn and I feel this is an important local shop to support and in any case the things they have to offer ooze a classic handmade superiority that should come in handy for present buying...

Caramel is a lively breakfast spot. Modern style cafe serving the classics with oodles of friendly service: creative fresh fruit juices, proper coffee and no stinting on the ketchup (real HP sauce and Heinz's tomato creation).

Popular, so if you turn up late morning on a Sunday then you may have to queue.

The Clarendon is your average nice bar that can be found dotted around most places in London. Drinks prices are normal central London prices. They serve food aswell but I don't think it's very good value for money. Staff are friendly enough and it tends to get packed out with workers from the nearby National Audit Office.
