You had better find this pub soonish before the rest of the world gets there! We visited on the advice of Fay Maschler (Evening Standard 16th July) and can only say how delighted we were to find such a welcoming and unpretentious local. The menu is stuffed with unusual dishes all from a strong British home and laced with a touch of the Irish, try the Coddle Pie with Colcannon or Arbroath Smokies with soft duck egg on top. Delicious. There is a feel of country fayre about the pub and you will be just at home with the real ales (Blacksheep/Hooky/Addlestones Cider) as one might with the concise but excellently chosen wine list, of which no less than 12 are available by the glass. The atmosphere is really pleasant and thankfully calm for a London pub, staff are attentive and seem to take a great interest you. Can get busy so advisable to book. Very poor service, waited a long time for our food. Place looks better on its website than it does in real life. Classic gastro-pub but with a little extra TLC. On a couple of occassions my ozzie relatives befriended the owner, who was friendly and welcoming.

A nice low key feel, with an odd assortment of old wooden tables that adds to the homely atmosphere. There is little drinking room in The Butchers Hook, so almost everyone is there to eat. The little drinking space that remains is quite civilised.

Some of their specialities include pot roasted game, creamy risottos and an assortment of deserts including rather a good apple crumble that is served on a mini baking pan...an extra scoop of rum and raisin ice cream doesn't go amiss...All in all, food I would return for.

Something of an oasis in the class desert that is North End Road, The Arbiter follows on from its predecessor, Meum Cor, with the main difference that this place stands a chance of being there in 6 months' time.

Friendly staff, a mouthwatering, serious cocktail list and what looks to me like a decent menu (haven't eaten there yet) all come together to make for a distinctly pleasant experience. Recently risen from the ashes of the grubby old O'Neills which used to lurk at the northern end of Putney Bridge, The Temperance is a beacon of loveliness amid an area of London which is surprisingly lacking in genuinely good drinking holes.

There's not a lot to fault about this place. Beautifully done out inside, wide selection of beers both on tap and in bottle, a cracking wine list and even the promise of smoothies and so on (although quite *why*, in a *pub*, I'm not sure).

The seating's comfortable, the staff are friendly and it's not full of tw@s - by my reckoning there are about four pubs I'd genuinely recommend in Hammersmith & Fulham, and this is definitely one of them. Formally The Cock this pub has just relaunched as The Cock and Hen and is now vying with the Arbiter as my favourite local.

The Cock and Hen has a good selection of local and lesser-known beer, including the fruity Bonobo, and the better known Budvar and Erdinger.

The menu also looks promising. On two recent trips I've found myself left out of the conversation as I salivate over the food on offer. I haven't sampled any yet but when I do I'll report back.

Another big plus for the pub (forgetting some odd plant pots with lights in!) is it's small, terraced beer garden. I guess a lot of places will be sprucing up their outside areas in preparation for the smoking ban, which can only be a good thing.

The icing on the cake at The Cock and Hen is the customer service. The staff are very friendly which makes the pub very welcoming - why can't all pubs make you feel at ease like this?

This is great restaurant / pub popular with an unpretentious crowd. Not far away on fulham road ("the Beach") are many far more cool places, but The Ifield keep its distance and benefits from being away from of the crowd.

Menu is comprised of a number of well-rehearsed staples such as Tuna steaks, duck hoi sin as well as traditional british fish and chips and other stuff.

Occasionally gets a bit smoky when crowded but remains a trustworthy local for all the residents of Ifield road and neighbouring streets.This is great restaurant / pub popular with an unpretentious crowd.
