This used to be my workplace local, but now my colleagues and I have nick-named it the "Crown and Septic Tank". it's well decorated and nice to perch outside in the summer, but a couple of things have put us off from going here.

The food is hideously over priced. They charge around Â£8 or Â£9 for a meal, and often it isn't cooked particularly well. The food can take ages to arrive, and often sporadically so one person is usually left hungry for a little longer.

And then there's the bar staff. It takes forever to get served. The final nail in the coffin was that the last lunch time I was there, the barman tried to strike up conversation with: "so, are you from the English Language school down the road?"

A gorgeous, exclusive and romantic spot that stands head and shoulders above every other drinking spot in this part of town. I'd be the first to admit it's probably not for everyone - it can be expensive, it's very dark (seriously, I had to use a torch to read the drinks menu) and depending on your point of view it sails dangerously close to pretension. But you'd have to have a heart of stone not to be impressed by the cocktails and the levels of service, and how incredible to find a place open until 1am in the center of London that is quiet enough for a normal conversation and doesn't charge Â£20 to get in.

Oh, there is that small matter of the membership of course. The place is great and you'll have a good time except when it's time to go. We got into our room 10 minutes late but there they were bang on time with an attitude to chuck us out. Completely unecessary. It put a downer on the night and made me really angry.

Centrally located in the heart of Soho it's one of many pubs what makes it different from the rest is their quirky interpretation of traditional. Tasteful textured wall paper and stuffed animals ( don't worry the bear isn't real), and for those of you who'd rather make the pub listen to your favourite songs stick a coin in the duke box filled with old classics and new wave beats.

People rush over from work, so come early though you'll be hard pushed to find a seat after 6pm .

Novelty is the word of the day.

A Thursday night, booked in advance Â£15 a head and that includes one cocktail each.

You check in and pay at reception, you then queue to get a blue plastic thermal, fur lined hooded poncho dropped over your head, that has mittens sewn on to it like you are 5 and back at primary school, all it needed was my name inside the neck!

You then walk through a little corridor to enter a room which can be only be described as a blue lit walk in freezer!
You have to queue at a small bar made of ice on the other side of the room and pick your menu from an Absolute cocktail menu that is on a mirrored square.

Mine was nicer than my boyfriends -but both drinks were still ok but very small. The 'glasses' are great - they are cubes made of ice with what looks like a small test tube size hole in the middle in which they pour the cocktails - so you feel like you drink a scientific experiment!

There are ice sculptures which you can sit in - I looked like the snow queen from Narnia apparently... there is a couple if benches and a table, the walls are even ice too.

Was definitely a nice and different 45 minutes and good start to the night.

The 2 non-ice bars upstairs and downstairs are well over priced, its Â£9.50 each for a G&T and a vodka cocktail - neither of which were even mixed well, sadly.

I'd go back, say if it was a pre birthday night out or had friend over from abroad and were doing something touristy and different.

This place was recently refurbished, and is much better for it. Much nicer decor, and they now serve many different ciders.

It can get really super busy on Friday nights with a younger crowd, but they generally play decent (indie) music. Food is also good; macaroni cheese is a particular favourite with our work crowd.

Despite some good scheduling - exciting dj's, new launches and innovative ideas, including the genuinely funny hip hop karaoke, this bar is small and skinny, meaning wherever you stand, you are invariably in somebody's way. It also pales in comparison with its sister bar in Nottingham. This place is very pleasant when there aren't many people in there, but when you get a few of the after-workers it becomes a little bit of a nightmare - its very difficult to get a seat, or even stand at that point.

Besides that, however, its a very nice trendy-but-warm feeling bar, a good selection of a beers and a friendly atmosphere. I found the staff here to be fairly friendly, and considering some of the other pubs in the area that is a real bonus!

As the previous (excellent) review pointed out, there are plenty of bars in London claiming to serve cocktails, and very few that do it particularly well. On the one hand it's nice that you can nip into your local and order a Mojito and it will generally be made with fresh mint and Havana Club rum. On the other hand, we're in danger of losing the craft and excitement that early cocktail pioneers like the Match Bar generated when they first opened over ten years ago. A visit to Annex 3 at the weekend reminded me what is so great about a good drink, as the focal point of a superb evening out.

It is a surrealist masterpiece of a drinks list. Some eyebrow-raising ingredients included wasabi, avocado and rhubarb - not all in the same drink, thankfully, but still unusual enough to wonder what on earth they tasted like. Fortunately, all the examples we ordered on Friday were delicious - particularly a short drink made with ginger and cinnamon, and a martini with pomegranate seeds, the names of which unfortunately escape me. The flavours were as bright and fresh as they were unique and clearly indicated a bar staff determined to put their mark on the London cocktail map. Most impressive.

Tying our evening together impeccably was some sterling service. We hardly had to look up from an empty glass before our gaze was met with a friendly face. Perhaps this was understandable given that a 12.5% service charge was added to the bar bill (even Claridge's only adds 10%) but it was hard to complain given how well our experience was handled. The food is honest and high quality, serving up British Pie favourites such as Steak and Kidney, Steak and Ale, Chicken and Leek Pies and Apple Pie, Rhubarb Crumble, and Bread and Butter pudding topped with a choice of Ice Cream, Cream or Custard. Service here is friendly and efficient. The menu also has regular specials and vegetarian options (today's included Lamb, Leek and Rosemary and Fisherman's) served with fresh seasonal vegetables all at very reasonable prices.

We arrived at 2pm on a Friday afternoon and had a 10 minute wait for a table for 2. We quickly ordered and I opted for the Lamb and Rosemary as the Special's had sold out. It arrived very quickly in all it's glory, a massive top crust of a pie with perfectly cooked green beans, carrots and light mash. Delicious. I had to follow this with one of their puddings, and since they had run out of Rhubarb crumble and had apple pie, with custard of course.

This place is a must for lunchtime fans of British grub!

This place is fantastic. Its relaxed and has a great atmosphere. The food is cheap and pretty tasty too and there are lots of drinks to choose from. Its not far from the tube and is a great place to grab a wind down after work pint (or 2). Its a good place for catching up with friends too as there is no loud music to drown out the conversation. They do have lots of TVs though so you can keep watch on the world outside while enjoying your drink.

As with many other Sam Smiths pubs in the capital, the Blue Posts has a lovely wooden interior and relaxed feel. If the upstairs is open, go up there. It has its own bar and comfy leatherchairs and sofas, and is dimly lit to create a cosy atmosphere.

Sam Smiths are great value for money if you're an ale drinker on a budget, so long as you go for the draft beer and not the bottles. That said the Taddy Porter is an amazingly tasty tipple.

I haven't eaten here, so can't comment on the food, but for value and atmosphere, and most importantly of course, the beer, it is well worth a visit or five. I went to Wax bar a few weeks back - music was very good. Staff are friendly and the bartenders can dish up some good cocktails! This is quite a unique and strange place, the frontage is all red glass and the interior red and black ! its very striking yet manages to be funky rather than garish with its low lightening and trendy music. This place is cocktail heaven and each one is made with great attention to detail. They have a huge rage of cocktails including one thats a lovely mix of rasberry and cranberry, this is nice and sweet and a vibrant red and actually works quite well. As you would expect it isnâ¬"t a cheap place but the bar staff really are well trained in the art of cocktails and were able to reel off all the ingredients of a vast array of them until we made our minds up. This is one of those venues that's good for an after-work drink, or for a chilled out drink during the day at the weekend. They do have a DJ for the weekend evenings, but it's not really a place that people party at or go to for the buzz of the music. It's more a place to stand around, get a bit drunk and talk with your mates. There's also The Loft upstairs, which is quite relaxed and a nice venue to chat with friends.

I have to say, it's not really my favourite place to go to - I always find it a bit lacking in energy and atmosphere.This is one of those venues that's good for an after-work drink, or for a chilled out drink during the day at the weekend. Well I certainly would not agree with the above reviews saying that The Loop is dreadful and overpriced! I came with my boyfriend for a meal before the cinema and we took advantage of an offer of 2 courses for Â£9.99. I don't know about you but I'd say that's good value. I thought the atmosphere was really great. The decor was really fresh and modern but still comfortable and the restaurant was nicely detached from the bar/club area so you could still talk with ease. Our food was superb and the menu was really varied. For example, My boyfriend had a burger and chips whereas I had a green thai curry! I thought it was a really lovely meal and the only drawback was our rather hapless waitress but to be fair to her it was only her first day on the job and the other staff helped to make sure our evening went smoothly. All in all it was a good meal and I would recommend a visit.Well I certainly would not agree with the above reviews saying that The Loop is dreadful and overpriced! I came with my boyfriend for a meal before the cinema and we took advantage of an offer of 2 courses for Â£9.99. I don't know about you but I'd say that's good value. I thought the atmosphere was really great. The decor was really fresh and modern but still comfortable and the restaurant was nicely detached from the bar/club area so you could still talk with ease. Our food was superb and the menu was really varied. For example, My boyfriend had a burger and chips whereas I had a green thai curry!
