<title>The Fat Badger - Why People Hate Notting Hill by alexgjohnson</title>

Many people hate Notting Hill, assuming it is full of pretentious young media types all thinking themselves far too glamorous actually to do anything useful. While largely not true of the area it is unfortunately completely true of the people who work at the Fat Badger, who are pretty, pretty lazy, and pretty thick. Service is poor - there&#39;s no two ways about it. The menu is pretentious, and the process of it arriving at your table at the same time as your companions&#39; seemingly non-existent. The food emphasises fresh seasonal ingredients and this seemed to be the case - hence two stars rather than one - but there was nothing particularly memorable about its Gastropub 101 assembly. It&#39;s not as cheap as it should be for its corner of Golborne Road location. If the owner is reading this, I would suggest firing any member of staff who even looks like they might be hoping to land a celebrity, and taking everything else back to basics. Good, simple food well done is what a local pub can and should do. You&#39;re not Bumpkin and on present form you won&#39;t be.Yuck. <title>Paradise By Way Of Kensal Green - Great night out by Qqueenie</title>

It was the Wagyu of chickens I believe - best not to put it in a pie with gravy so it tastes just like...well chicken. The steak was excellent (about the same price as my pie - que?) The wine is pretty well priced and a good solid list ... and the puddings whilst small on size and again a little steep, did look stunning. I think what I am trying to say is that its hard to just &#39;pop in for a bite&#39; here - you are looking at &#0194;&#0163;40 a head min, which is a shame, it being a local boozer. That aside its still high on my list, if you go at the weekend you get the added bonus of a great little nightclub upstairs which is open until 2am. There is also a private dining room seating max 20 which is definitely worth a booking. Smoker-friendly with gardens downstairs and a large busy balcony upstairs too. Well worth a visit, if just for the hand-painted Italian wallpaper in the ladies ..We ate here recently, and I know they have a posh chef, but rather expensive for what is a basically a noisy jostling gastropub (&#0194;&#0163;15.75 for a chicken and mushroom pie - and that was the cheapest item on the main course menu&#33;).
