I only gave Sable D'Or 2 stars because they customer service is the slowest in the world. Even when the place is half empty, you still have to wait for ages for your food, your bill or whatever. Staff speak broken English and there is a very high turnover as well, which puts me off. However, the food is delicious and the pastries are to die for. That is the main reason I keep on going back, except I usually take it away just so that I don't have to wait to get served. The other good thing about it is that it is child friendly so when my son was little I was able to go there for lunch no problem. I just wish that the staff was curtous enough to open the door for my buggy (the door is heavy and opens inwards, it's not an easy task), but what can I do.I only gave Sable D'Or 2 stars because they customer service is the slowest in the world. I am a big fan of the Giraffe chain. My usual restaurant is on the South Bank. But i wanted to review the Muswell Hill branch as this was the first Giraffe I visited. My friend introduced me to this chain on a lazy sunny Sunday when we went there for a relaxed brunch. I can thoroughly recommend their brunch menu having sampled a few of their delights. Favourites are: hazelnut latte with their breakfast waffles, or a brekkie plate with a Hippy Hippy Shake smoothie.

Giraffe is a restaurant that caters for all ages and is especially recommended for families. I always look out for a Giraffe in any city I visit as I know this is an expanding chain. When I lived in Muswell Hill, I would go to La Porchetta regularly. There are several pizza places in the area, but this one beats the rest hands down. It is one of those restaurants that is well worth travelling to, even if you don't live in the area.

Pizzas are huge and delicious. I would recommend the pizza pasquale, with aubergines, sun-dried tomatoes, and mozzarella, and covered with rocket once it comes out of the oven ... delicious.

As a previous reviewer has mentioned, if you or someone in your group is celebrating a birthday, the staff will bring out a treat as a surprise. But be warned, this is not for the shy: they play a very loud 'happy birthday' recording and come out of the kitchen bangin pots and pans, so the whole restaurant will be watching you!When I lived in Muswell Hill, I would go to La Porchetta regularly. This si the best health club I have ever been to, it is immaculate, candles lit at reception, extremely clean changing rooms and a wide selections of activities and classes. It is an adult only club, but you can bring your child swimming on a Sunday morning. The juice bar offers a healthy selection of food and you can relax reading newspaper while looking over at the beautiful mature gardens. My only complaint would be that the staff at the gym is not particularly friendly. They ever make any eye contact, but of course when a celebrity walks in (there are a few), they are all smiles. A part from this, it is a great club, it's expensive but you can see where your money is going. Toffs is my favourite fish restaurant and take away. It's slightly dearer than the average fish & chips but portions are huge and always cooked to perfection. If you eat in, the manager always makes sure that the food on your plate looks and tastes right. He replaced the chips I was given without me saying a word because he said they looked over cooked. When i was pregnant he recommended that I try a different dressing because the one I had chosen had raw egg in it. And everyone is really friendly, shame they havent' got many tables so you might have to queue if you turn up at busy times.

I have been looking for a hairdressers for years. I was never happy with the cut or colour and would go home only to wash it again and restyle it myself. Until I found Goldilocks. Forget about the manager, who is not aprticularly friendly and only likes to take the money. The other staff are brilliant. I tried 3 different stylists and they are the best. They listen to what you say and give honest advice when asked. They have a massage chair that massages your back and legs while you have your hair washed, it is Heaven. They know how to cut long hair and make you look and feel like a million pounds. It is very expensive, but I keep on going back because my hair has never looked so good. Rating: 4.00The Yien restaurant in Muswell Hill is a real gem. It is located opposite to the Odeon Cinema. It is easy to get to and there is plenty of parking nearby.

The restaurant is not large and the decor is basic in black and white yet looks both clean and fresh. The service is attentive and non-obtrusive. The menu is extensive and caters well for vegetarians and non-vegetarians. One of the best starter dishes is the salt and pepper tofu and what better way to end a great meal than with a delicious banana fritter! This is a great place for any occasion, social or work. Simply the best restaurant I've visited in London so far! The staff are friendly, the food is incredible and some of the best tapas I've had! They also have an additional pizza menu and the pizzas are huge! They are all priced at around Â£5 and tapas dishes are very reasonable too. A group of 5 of us went recently and ordered two pizzas and 9 tapas dishes between us - the portions were huge but we refused to leave anything!

This family run Greek restaurant is fabulous in its quality and variety of traditional dishes and drinks. George and Androulla are perfect hosts....we have spent many lovely times in this gem of a restaurant over the last few years. Try ANY of their dishes and it will satisfy you totally...cooked to perfection by them. Can highly recommend their Meze & Grills..and excellent selection of wines & beers. The value is astounding. I used to walk past this shop all the time as a child in the 1970's and am so pleased to see it still survives. The shop is full of character and it's like stepping back in time.
