Thistle Marble Arch Hotel - Very Nice by xaphania

The rooms were perfectly decked out and the bathroom was lovely. The TV boasted a wide range of channels including foreign language ones.
One complaint i did have was the view. Our room seemed to back onto a concrete square surrounded by tall buildings and it contained several ventilation vent things.
Because we won the stay we couldnt really complain but we know other winners got a perfectly good view of the street.
We had breakfast included and it was the nicest breakfast i've had in a while. There was a wide range of foods including the typical english breakfast, continental breakfasts, yoghurt, fruit salads, muffins, cereal... there was lots. At £15 a time, i think it was worth it (even though thats a lot of money for a breakfast- what would expect for a top hotel in central London)
Overall an enjoyable staySo me and my friend won a competition with Nivea which included a night in the Thistle Marble Arch and i have to say it was very enjoyable.
I am not someone who often go's to posh hotels so i was quite impressed.
The Cumberland Hotel - Kua Bar @ The Cumberland Hotel by walid

Anyway this review isn't about the hotel itself but the Kua Bar. The Kua Bar at first site looks trendy, spacious, comfortable, trendy and swanky. I was there attending a Courvoisier event and looked forward to trying out a few new Courvoisier cocktails including the one picture which had chocolate. The cocktails themselves were great, well prepared and well presented. Now if I stopped my review at this point I'd give the Kua Bar a 4 stars... however... and that's a big however the service was extremely slow. Not because there was too many customers or not enough staff but from what I understand misunderstandings and bad management by the staff. Both my drinks and the other guests with me took 15 - 20 minutes to arrive which is completely unacceptable, so because of this I'd give the Kua Bar a 2 star and probably won't be returning. As you enter the Cumberland hotel you're quite impressed by its massive entrance that has this modern scifi feel to it.
