This is possibly the worst place I have ever been in: we arrived around 2.30pm for a late lunch, the surly staff ushered us over to the far end next to the fire exit, they then proceeded to shift furniture around, opening the fire exit to carry things in and out thus letting in a howling wind. We had to ask them to take our order. The place was infested with barflys. The portions were pitifully small. The salmon was overdone. There was no soap in the toilets, and the pushdown tap stayed on full blast for the best part of two minutes. There was a general air of shambolic decay about the place. I went to this place last weekend and thought it was really good. I have never really been out in the Shoreditch way but my friends and I were up for trying it out and I am so glad that we did!
The music was really amazing and the sound system that they have there was wicked!
We got there about 10:00pm and it was buzzing with atmosphere and we ended up staying there for the rest of the night.
The staff were so friendly on the door and at the bar. The cocktails were shockingly good! And they had such a selection of them that it was too hard to choose!
It closed at 2:00am but I wish it stayed open later as I was having such a good time!
Would definitley recommend this place to anyone who wants a fab time out with their friends and enjoys a cosmopolitan.... or two!!I went to this place last weekend and thought it was really good. We hired this pub for a 50th birthday party and I cannot praise it enough. Very accommodating owner and staff, great venue so central, just the right size for 60-100 people. Space to dance, or talk ; food was excellent, late licence, could go in early to decorate, reasonable priced wine - made for a perfect evening. Difficult to find but worth it once you're there.

I came here for a friend's birthday and I have to say, it's a very nice pub. It is quite hard to find if you don't know the area as I found out. I ended up having an argument with my boyfriend over it.

It has all the usual things that a gastropub offers such as trendy decor, a decent menu, they were quick to serve at the bar and the ale comes in proper ale glasses (nice!).

Industry is a bar like any other in London-you could be in one of 100 places in the area. I'm reviewing it for Thursday nights because they have a dice offer on (and it's the only night I've ver been there)-if you beat the barperson then you get your drinks free. It's a good crowd, nice looking ladies and the possibility of cheap drinks. Perhaps I'm getting old, but I didn't have much of a good time in The Light Bar. I came here on Friday night and found it to be noisy, really dark and rammed; same as any bar in London on a Friday night, I suppose.

Their choice in music was a touch bizarre. Drum and bass was the choice of the evening and was a bit of a downer. The crowd were a mix of post-work suits and girls dolled up to the nines, ready for a night out. Lots of jostling to get to the bar.

Unfortunately, when I was here my drinks weren't very good. Vodka, lime and soda came in a warm glass with slightly flat soda and only a small wedge of lime; luckily I tasted it before I left the bar as I had to ask the barman to chuck some lime cordial in it. Bedales is a French wine shop/wine bar hybrid, a sister shop to the one in Borough Market. You can buy any bottle of wine off the shelf and drink-in for a flat Â£8 corkage fee, or choose from a small selection of wines by the glass.

There's also a cold food counter offering the usual wine-accompaniments - breads, cheeses, olives and various dips and salads.

I suspect the time of day has a bearing on your definition of the place â¬ during the day a wine shop, at night a wine bar. We arrived on a cold winters evening, a Thursday to be precise, and it felt very much wine bar-ish - mood-lit and busy with an after-work kinda crowd. There is some perimeter seating at the front and a long communal counter down the middle, and the walls are shelved with an impressive collection of wines from all over.

Noted oddities were a) the music and b) the bathroom. The music was disco, and bathroom was outside. Not only is it outside, but thereâ¬"s only one â¬ so, should you need to â¬Ügoâ¬" you need to wait for whomever is currently gone to come back with the key. This system also requires the bartender to keep track of whoâ¬"s asked for the key when so that an orderly, invisible queue is maintained. (There was a near confrontation when my friend was about to get the coveted key ahead of the woman next to us whoâ¬"d been â¬Üwaiting agesâ¬".) Combine this petrol station-style operation with wine-logged brains and bladders and it all begins to break down fairly quickly.

All in all, a nice atmosphere, though. The staff were very laid back, smiley and friendly. Iâ¬"d go back and sample some more of the wines or maybe sign up for one of their tasting events, but itâ¬"s more of a quick stop-in place than somewhere to spend the whole evening in.

A bop from Old Street tube station and owned by youth culture monster magazine 'VICE' the scene inside isn't what you'd expect it to be. Quite controlled and docile considering it's reputation. Dark and dingy everyone keeps to themselves, unless you're in with the 'in' crowd, a pretentious bunch of snotty, leather clad teenagers! If you're over 20 prepare to feel like a parent.

In it's defence they do play damn good music and the live music room upstairs has good sound.

The Horse and Groom loves music and parties, so on the weekends you'll often find live music gigs (worth checking their listings), an organised event or if you have something to celebrate you could always hire their upstairs function room for a private party.

They have recently taken on a French chef who will cook you up a feast from the Creole/ French menu.

Excellent venue for lunchtime, where you are guaranteed a man-size portion and can be in and out in an 1 hour. One of my favoutite places in the City at the moment due to the excellent service (waitresses always smiling), quality of food, good atmosphere and choice of wines.

Also very nice as an evening venue, but can get busy.
