Just a quick review of The Chapel pub near Edgeware Road Tube Station...

It's a well run pub with an exciting food menu featuring some modern pub classics like rib eye steak, fish cakes and grilled chicken. This is bolstered by some more unusual offerings such as grilled ostrich with a mango, ginger and chili dressing. The most startling side of the menu however, is the lack of both burgers and chips... a very good thing indeed! Even though I did have an insatiable desire to wolf down a cheese burger and chips on a slow Friday afternoon!

Oi and I had the grilled ostrich which was beautifully rare. Unfortunately, the meat was tough and fibrous. Not the tender piece of meat we were expecting. It was chewy and disappointing as a piece of meat. A real shame because the rest of the dish was fabulous. We probably should have played safe with the rib eye!

I watched the two, young and energetic chefs at work. The quality of their presentation and flavour combinations were very impressive. I suspect that they were just let down by the quality of their meat. We'll give them a second chance at some point soon to try the rest of their menu out. But another blunder and we won't return. I've been to a few Caribbean restaurants, and think Cottons' reign supreme. I've never had any complaints here, my favourite dish is the Jerk Platter.

A fantastic array of rums and lively environment.

Cottons have now opened another restaurant in Islington, in an ex-pub, although this isn't as lively, the food is just as good, and its easier to park the car.I've been to a few Caribbean restaurants, and think Cottons' reign supreme. Mumtaz is an Indian that goes the extra mile with a fun restaurant setting and delicious food. Worthy of a four star curry experience.

The restaurant is not smart and a little tired now but that is part of the charm. However, friendly service and tasty food win out.

I've eaten here over 10 times in the last 2 months. The food is not haute cuisine, but it is nice for a pub and you get value for money. I especially like that they serve more than just the normal pub menu.

This establishment is a disgrace the food is absoluteley awful .

Lemonia along with 99% of Greek and Cypriot restaurants in London are the same.

Why can the Turks and Lebanese reproduce decent quality in London whilst the Greeks/Cypriots shame their nations cuisine !

My friends are going to kill me for writing this review as they wanted to keep it secret (they did warn me), but I am compelled to share it in true TrustedPlaces spirit and style.

Iâ¬"ll keep it short: warm and cosy atmosphere, friendly staff (albeit a little slow sometimes), and delicious food make it a favourite of mine. Especially great for Sunday relaxation, fish & chips nâ¬" roast (not all to be consumed in one go!). The desserts are also to die for...

Have always eaten in the â¬Üpub/barâ¬" section (instead of the restaurant section) as I find it more informal, but great to be given the option for more special occasions..

I have conflicting thoughts about zoos. I think itâ¬"s great that the population of a city can visit a zoo and see animals that they may never otherwise see in their lifetime. I also think a zoo is a great way to educate people about different species of animals, their habitats, threats to their survival and ways to prevent this.

On the other hand, I feel that the animalâ¬"s recreated environments should closely reflect that of their individual needs and be as concrete free as possible. I donâ¬"t see the need to build enclosures in concrete and with minimal features. It surely is not beneficial for the animal and certainly is not appealing to look at.

With that in mind, I feel that the London Zoo has a little way to come to make its enclosures more appealing to both man and beast. The zoo has clearly grasped this idea as there are several new enclosures, namely the Gorillaâ¬"s, a walk in bird enclosure, the Penguinâ¬"s (I walked past the old penguin enclosure and was shocked to see that it was all concrete) and the tropical.

I wasnâ¬"t sure how new the butterfly enclosure or the bug house was, but these are also along the lines of what I expect from a zoo (the fact that the butterfly enclosure is inside a giant bouncy-castle style caterpillar is brilliant). Seeing butterflies with transparent wings is something of a novelty. Even more so when they land on you and you can see your hand through their wings. Inside the bug house I was suitable impressed with the display of ants near the doors. They do ant things like taking bits of leaves from one area to another via several ropes. It was only after I got close enough to them that I realised that it wasnâ¬"t an enclosure as such, you could reach out and touch them if you so desired. I had no desire to do this having seen what happened to my sister when she sat on an ants nest in Australia or my partner when she stood on an ants nest in Costa Rica.

Whether its butterflies or bugs youâ¬"re into, both are worth looking at.

If youâ¬"re at the zoo on a cold day, make sure you swing past the Tropical Rain Forest enclosure (maybe more than once depending on how cold it is). The highlights for me were the two, two or three toed sloths (Iâ¬"d seen them in the wild in Costa Rica also much to my excitement). And by the time we got down to ground level, the â¬Stropical rain stormâ¬

Went to Phoenix Palace for Dim Sum today to make a change from the usual haunts and to avoid the West End. It is a very popular place for wedding banquets so probably a good idea to call in advance to check if the restaurant is open to the public on the weekend. My friends and I arrived at noon to avoid the queues and get there before a wedding which would start at 2pm and we were pleased to be seated immediately.

The restaurant was large, colourful and richly decorated - a cut above the usual places in Chinatown. For the four of us, we ordered about 9 different Dim Sum plates plus a plate of Ho Fun noodles with beef in black bean sauce. The food arrived hot and very quickly. I was very impressed with the Turnip paste which was very tasty, the cheung fun,the har gar and the spring rolls. The Ho Fun was unfortunately a tad greasy and I wasn't that impressed by the deep fried squid which were nice enough and tender but not as good as Royal China Putney - which does the best squid ever!

Overall it was a good experience and we were even more delighted that the bill came up to Â£40 including service. I took my Chairman here last week - it was his recommendation. I had to call him to find it. Straight out of Baker Street tube (the exit on Baker St), cross over the road and about 10 metres up on the opposite side of the road you'll find a small alley. It's up the alley.

The food is typically Japanese. I had the Benito lunch box, my Chairman had Sushi. Swilled down with green tea and some miso soup we were in and out quickly but without feeling rushed!

Our bill for 2 was Â£25. (Being my Chairman, I paid of course)I took my Chairman here last week - it was his recommendation. I had to call him to find it. The proprietors of this restaurant are very friendly and helpful. We have ordered take-away or home delivery from them many times because a number of their dishes are good, inexpensive and it's nearby. You can eat in the restaurant too which is neatly kept. Our favourites are crispy chicken wings tossed with chilli, salt & pepper; crispy squid julienne; crispy aubergine; tom yam goong; fillet steak with black pepper sauce; and wok-fried beef ho-fun (flat rice noodles). One very hungover Brazilian friend and one very hungry me came here this past Sunday for a meal as my friend missed food from home and felt that I should go to a restaurant "where Brazilians go to eat when they miss their own."

Thinking that we would miss the lunch rush by eating at 3 pm in the afternoon, we arrived and sure enough the tiny restaurant (with only 7 or 8 tables) was bursting at the seams - but being Brazilian, my friend charmed the Brazilian hostess and she promised to call us as soon as a table became free.

True to her word, we received a phone call half an hour later, at which point we were faint from starvation and the incredible smell emanating from the restaurant and wafting down the street.

I had fejoiada, a traditional black bean stew, while my friend went for something a bit simpler and chose a grilled chicken breast. My fejoiada was served with greens braised in an unholy amount of butter, and rice which tasted as if it had been cooked in beef broth. Eaten with a bit of farina (sorry, I can't spell) and some hot peppers, it was just what I had needed - tasty, incredibly filling, and so moreish (I can't believe I just used that word, I destest it) that I've been fantasizing about another portion for the past few days. While I didn't taste my friend's meal, he said it was very, very good.

This place, while tiny, is worth the wait for a free table - the service is friendly, the menu is composed entirely of Brazilian favourites, and is beyond cheap - my fejoiada was only 6 pounds!

We were expecting some gastro food here... Timeout critic choice you know... Our friends who live nearby said the food is great...
I ordered the duck salad. I was not enlightened at all... It was a salad with some beans, lettuce, plums and duck...
The plums, which were supposed to be the Ükick' ,actually didn't fit with the over salty duck.
My friend had a pizza with anchovies ,capers and egg.
On the first bite, this appeared to be a nice looking pizza but then we consulted with out Italian authorities:
'A good example of Napolitana pizza but the dough is too thin...'
'you can get a similar pizza at Zizzi for £3 less...' (the price was £9 which is pricy for what you get...)
The olived we ordered from the bar were juicy and amazing!
The staff were nice and responsive! We might give this place a second chance but we were indifferent for the culinary experience this time...Visited on 25/07/07.

The first time I have been there was when they have just opened. It was an amazing experience but sadly that did not last for a long time. Sofra has many branches and you can feel it. What I like about it is that you get some bread and humus at the beginning as a maze and it is delicious and also welcoming.
The food is mainly ok ,nothing exceptional. The mixed meet dish is quite alright.The first time I have been there was when they have just opened. I was there for my Birthday- it is good for a large group. I liked the beers with the funny taste like Casis... They have amazing selection of beers. I liked the mussels in the Thai curry sauce.

At the end of an exhausting week at Magellan Labs, I lunched here with an old chum (perhaps my oldest chum), a native North Londoner who is a tip-top lawyer as well as a food and wine expert (and a football fanatic to boot). The Cafe has always been in Regent's Park, at least since the sixties; but as the UK has grown ever more prosperous so its culinary offering has improved. We both had a splendid, steaming hot pea soup (complete with crusty bread) to begin with followed by a gruyere tartlet with a generous helping of salad. More substantial dishes were also on offer. Marine ice cream is served for pudding (a real treat - best ice cream in London). The service was cheerful and obliging and the food good. My chum generously picked up the tab so I cannot offer a view on value for money. What I can say is that whilst the tables and chairs are a bit basic (seventies plastic/formica) and need a makeover, the setting in the centre of London's most beautiful park is simply stunning. On warmer days, you can sit outside which is a real plus. I followed a friend over to this fabulous dive after finishing a sweaty gig at the Fiddler's Elbow. It was a Sunday night, and we just wanted to find a place that would serve a beer after midnight. The place was packed with characters of every odd stripe. It was a noisy, roiling, vibrant hot spot. It wasn't jazz that night: a fellow resembling a zombie played boogie woogie Elvis tunes on a Gretsch turned up very loud. I had a cold beer, hot fries, and a lump of hash in my pocket. I bumped into Primrose Bakery while walking along Gloucester Avenue on my way to the Engineer. It looked very nice and cosy from the outside and so I decided to go back in there for a coffee and dessert after my brunch.

The Bakery is very nice: the decor is quite simple and old fashioned, there are 3 comfortables tables and enough seating space for about 10-12 people.

They have good coffe (Illy Caffe' from Italy) and make very good cakes and have a very good selection of cup cakes.
