Carluccio's - The best Carluccios outlet by CPaskell

I really love the food at carluccios but for me, this one is the best of the many carluccios outlets in London. The service is always impeccable here, the staff are friendly, fast and very knowledgeable about the food and its ingredients, even making substitutions to the meals where they can (for example, letting me have 2 meat rice balls - the second rice ball should be filled with mozarella - because I can't eat too much cheese). My favourite meal is the pasta con vongole (clams with garlic and chilli in spaghetti). The pasta is fresh and good value for money, the menu has a great range of salads and main dishes too with a nice range of affordable and more expensive wines. The menu does change seasonally - so my clams aren't available in winter - but then they have other food on offer such as wild boar raviolis. In summer, sitting outside in this venue is lovely although it does get busy with office workers. Thai restaurant located in the middle of the Canary Wharf district, nice for a posh dinner or just an after work drink. The food is different obviously and can be quite hot as it is Thai food, but there is plenty that is bland and not hot at all. Good selection of starters and mains, and if you are after a quiet meal than get a table upstairs where there is a nice ambience even when busy with city workers. They can fit large groups as well as it is quite large and normally loads of space in the bar so you can grab snacks with drinks on the downstairs level. Situated a 5-10minutes away from Canary Wharf station, a very nicely laid out place and pretty good service. Really nice food, loads for vegetarians as well as meat eaters, really good food and a very large menu. The only let down is the price which is pretty expensive especially if you have a wide range of dishes. The takeaway service is not so good with a 11am order delivered at 2pm one time and all the wrong items delivered and some missing so dine in is recommended. Itsu has two branches in Canary Wharf, one a pitstop branch for just takeaway only at lunchtime near the tube, and the other on the 4th floor near Cabot Square. The eat in option does not have the most homely atmosphere, rather a functional design. We chose to sit on seats away from the conveyor belt grabbing the food every 10 minutes or so. Sitting at the conveyor belt is handy though but as you keep picking dishes you better watch your bill. Located at the top of the Waitrose building in Canary Wharf (where the Reebok Gym is located) a really well designed place with seperate grill and bar restaurant as well as normal gourmet food. Well dressed staff and good service but fairly pricey food. the seabass is good and the starters also very nice. Superb view of the main Canary Wharf buildings as well as the green grass at the front, looks great on a sunny day and they even have a table outside the roofing. Great views of the Thames from the 4th floor and nice table arrangement with a separate bar and grill section. Black tuna is a must, best thing on the menu even if it is overpriced (as is the whole menu). The service was very good with an explanation of all the dishes available for the uninitiated in Japanese food and also importantly how to eat it! The portions are small and we needed to order a lot of courses to make it a filling meal (I still think I was hungry after 8 or so dishes including starters). nice location nearer the East End than the City, like the other reviewer said it can get very packed even on lunchtimes due to the banker crowd (I am one). If no reservation you need to probably wait about 30mins at the bar which again is pretty small and busy. Normally very loud but the steaks are amazing, don't bother with overpriced starters (they are small and ruin the mains which you really want to enjoy), I got the biggest steak on the menu (about Â£40 I think) and it really filled me up!. Again only go out if someone else is paying or you have loads of cash. Recommended if you can afford it and don't mind a busy atmosphere. Really nice place run by native Italians, the food is excellent and really fresh, I normally go for the Calamari squid rings and seabass, truly excellent. My italian friend says it's the best Italian in London he has been to in the last 5 years and he's impressed with the range of wines (well he is Italian). Nice ambience and homely yet upmarket feel. Located in the Canary wharf business district, so nice surroundings and parking easily available in the local Waitrose car park or get off at Canary Wharf tube or DLR. I usually go with a group from work but I have seen lots of couples as it's such a nice place. The La Tasca near canary wharf is part of the La Tasca chain but the one in canary wharf has an advantage of location. It has outdoor seating perfect for sunny days and plenty of space inside when it starts raining. The food is same as in any other La Tasca (Spanish Tapas) and yes you do get Sangria. The service is ok and depends on how busy it is.

Wings is a Buffet type restaurant which has been in existence for a number of years. Open from around 12pm-11pm daily, serving a variety of different dishes which change throughout the day. The restaurant also does not use Monosodium Glutamate (MSG) in any dishes!

Food is priced depending on when you're there. For a weekday lunch, it can start at around Â£6 for an adult. Evenings are Â£8.95. Weekend lunches are cheaper, and dinners are Â£10.95 and up. Drinks are reasonable - Chinese tea is 80p per head, soft drinks (fizzy drinks, juices, bottled water, tea and coffee) start at 1.10 - however the restaurant DOES NOT serve tap water (presumably as drinks bring in the most profit!)

However, that said, the food is always of good quality. No Dim-Sum (occasionally there are pork dumplings) however they do serve crispy duck pancakes, salad, ho fun noodles, and a wide range of dishes. The main staples are always in existence - singapore noodles, sweet and sour chicken or pork, beef in black bean sauce, fried rice, prawn toast, prawn crackers, spring rolls, crispy fried seaweed and other bits and bobs! Occasional dishes also appear - chicken satay, chicken with cashew nuts, chips, ho fun noodles, garlic prawns, dumplings, szechuan beef, ribs, crispy chilli fried beef, salt and pepper tofu, deep fried squid, vegetable tempura and there are always plenty of sauces and a couple of soups to choose from. Dessert is always well catered for, with ice-cream, lots of fresh fruit and jellies (often vegetarian, based on cornflour).

Atmosphere can be quite busy, especially in evenings when lots of local families pop by to get some take-away, but the food is always good value and good quality, plus there are always interesting people in the restaurant too!

Service is friendly but generally unobtrusive - and generally not needed apart from initial drinks and the occasional plate clearance. The bill is paid at the main counter, and there is a charge for wasteage if food is left on plates.

The Grapes - Gorgeous, quaint little pub by mif

This historic little pub is so quaint that it's worth dropping into if you're in the area and if there's room! Service is friendly, even the other diners who were there when we dropped by on a Sunday were friendly. They serve a delicious Sunday roast - it's either pork or lamb on alternate weekends. That Sunday it was pork's turn and it was so good we practically breathed it down with a few pints. There is a tiny veranda overlooking the Thames where it is incredibly relaxing to sit with a few mates and a few more pints on a sunny day. All the action is overseen by who I'm guessing is the resident mascot, Max, a German Shepherd inclined to mind his own business while happily doing the rounds in the place.This historic little pub is so quaint that it's worth dropping into if you're in the area and if there's room! It's very hard to find good Malaysian/Indonesian food even in London, but this place proves that it can be done. The restaurant is fairly small and definately laid back but the service is great and the food is outstanding.

Obviously lovers of this type of food are going to want to go for the rendangs and satay and other meat dishes, but to be honest the best thing about the restaurant is the seafood. Theres some outstanding stuff on the menu, loved the squid and the sea bass.

This is the sort of place where you don't have to dress up, its not pretentious. It's a food lovers hang out, and I'm now a regular. I've been several times at Chili's in Canary Wharf. More for the location (just above the shopping centre) than for the food. Burgers and fries were ok most of the times but even a lot disappointing other times!
They do a pretty good Chicken Caesar Salad and also their chicken dishes aren't bad.
And that's all for a fair price... I've always spent 25-ish Â£ for 2 persons.
What annoys me most (and that's the reason why it's a while that I don't go) is that your table is ALWAYS pretty dirty and sticky! The other thing is that the place is rarely crowded and waiters are probably more that necessary, but anyway they are pretty slow in taking your order and serve you the food.
