This is a cool little place. It has quite an intimate feel without being to invasive, almost like being in someone's living room with a bunch of mates. Lots of music, often bands and live jazz on. Nice food. Oh and I think they have board games (!)

I absolutely love this place! It's great place to hang out with all the comfy chairs and sofas and free wi-fi. Our group was treated with utter contempt by the managers. Despite plenty of telephone conversations letting them know when the size of our group shrunk, our agreement to pay a booking fee for the space, and keeping in touch with them about the details, as soon as my party of 40 people began to arrive we were asked to leave because "we're not going to make enough money from you." Nothing could justify their rudeness, total refusal to compromise or negotiate any reasonable solution (all they would say to my every suggerstion is "you have to leave") and their eventual refusal even to let our guests know about the new location we had moved to. I was appalled and would discourage anyone from having anything to do with these psychos.Our group was treated with utter contempt by the managers. Popped in earlier today and had one of their "Big Roast's" Â£12.95. A Slice of Lamb/Beef and Pork along with the best Roast Potatoes I've ever had, plus the usaul seasonal veg and Yorkshire Pud.

The food was excellent, and the portions generous. Service was quick and the staff were really friendly even though they were really busy.

I love this place. Used to be a bit rubbish but they must have changed ownership or mangement because it's a proper pub now. Always a nice range of real ales, good lagers and loads of weird and wonderful spirits.
Generally decent music, sometimes gets a bit 'alternative' for my liking, but hey...
No sport, which is a good thing.

A Youngs Pub, a few minutes walk from the tourist throng along the Southbank.

The pub is opposite the entrance to The London Studios, so can get busy when an audience is due to go in. Many programs are made here, mainly for ITV, but other channels use the studios also.

The pub may seem familiar as it regularly appeared in previous series of The Graham Norton Show, as well as Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway.

The food menu is verging on posh, I've not actually eaten there, prefering to eat down the road at Doggets Coat and Badge. (Cheaper).

The beer range is average, but the staff are always friendly. The comfy seats at the front of the pub a great for watching people pass by, and in warm weather the whole front of the pub is opened up to the street.

It makes me sad to write such a scathing review as I live close to the Roebuck and I used to quite often I frequent this lovely building for a beer or two in the afternoon or evenings it has a great atmosphere and is great to meet with friends for a drink

I am a bit of a foodie and I enjoy a good pub meal but feel that the food The Roebuck are serving lets the pub down something major! I am yet to have an enjoyable dining experience and I feel it is very it is very over priced, also the food is disgusting to say the least and the majority of the time your lucky if you even get what ordered! The last dinner I had there was a venison burger (Â£8.95) which tasted like a tired some old deer and the texture was so chewy I couldnâ¬"t bring my self to get past the fist bite!

I tried it for breakfast too thinking that maybe a different chef worked the mornings alas no I ordered the eggs Benedict with Salmon when I got it the eggs were over cooked and separated from the white to ad insult to injury there wasnâ¬"t any hollandaise sauce when I asked for hollandaise sauce the waiter took it away 10 minutes later I got back this cold separated egg thing with a cold yellow sauce that had a lovely big skin on it!

So in short if you donâ¬"t care what you eat/when you get it, perhaps you have had your taste buds removed or you just have money to burn then go to the Roebuck for a meal, but I personally would not even take my dog to this pub for dinner and I'm am sceptical to go back even for a beer due to this.

...then that would possibly be the main reason to head here. Whilst not an awful place to visit for a pint, there are a couple of factors that keep it from reaching the giddying heights of other nearby drinking holes such as The Windmill or even The Camel & Artichoke on Lower March.

The main one is that it's on a busy main road and is more or less the first place you see when emerging out of the Undergound street entrance to Waterloo. With that in mind, it gets uncomfortably busy and is filled with all manner of bad-tempered suits grabbing a quick one before heading home so at times it is standing-room only.

The drinks on choice are bog-standard and the wine list somewhat limited. Food seems to be quite middle of the road cook-chill stuff whilst again, not bad, is a bit unremarkable.

On the bright side though, it does have quite a nice layout with a good mixture of comfy tables, seats and bar tables (when you can get them). Bar staff are efficient if a little icy at times and the live sports can be a bit oppressive.

Whilst there's much to detract from, there's a lot that could be improved quite easily given a bit of effort. The question is whether you can be bothered with that when there are other, better, places within a short distance?...then that would possibly be the main reason to head here. The pub itself is a strictly orthodox affair; a small pub grub menu, a couple of decent cask-conditioned ales and lagers on tap (with an interesting choice of Oranjeboom and Holsten on tap) with limited seating inside and a couple of outside tables on the pavement by the square. Whilst I'm sure it's not strictly legal, it's also good for summer drinks in Cleaver Square itself, and it's not uncommon to see folks clutching a pint whilst playing boules in the square.

Whilst Kennington probably has better pubs in the Prince of Wales, few have the character or the atmosphere that the Dog House has.

Yes, the service can be downright diabolical at times, but in my own experience it tends to be a hit and miss affair erring more towards hit; it's just a busy pub at a busy crossroads and are just as applicable at The White Hart across the road or even the PoW.

That said, the food is always excellent with a wide menu and a decent Sunday roast. There's also a good if unremarkable selection of beers on tap. It also attracts a young and relaxed crowd thrown in the odd minor celebrity (Keith from The Office, anyone?). Add to this the fact that it has bags of character and a quiet upstairs section with really comfy seats then it's not hard to realise you can do much worse in Kennington. This is my Friday lunch spot. The pub is run by a German Couple kicking out hearty, satisfying, sleep inducing German food. The menu is fantastic, and a good value. Schnitzel, and roast potatoes and a drink for about Â£5.

The only thing Iâ¬"ve stumbled across that I didnâ¬"t like was the roast in beer sauce? The above picture is the Jager Schnitzel, mushroom gravy and chips.
Simple and Satisfying.

Oh Dear! What in Harveyâ¬"s name has happened to this pub? Has it changed hands? It has always been a pleasure to visit this pub and receive a warm welcome from the hospitable landlord, Frank, and swap the occasional story and beer with him.

However shock and horror upon my return here with my wife yesterday (Sunday afternoon at 5pm) for another anticipated pleasurable visit only to be confronted by a surly foul-mouthed man across the bar professing to be the Licensee and repeatedly shouting at us to â¬Sfâ¬¦.off, and get outâ¬ whilst I was trying to politely explain to the barmaid that the bottom of a glass retains the heat for quite a while after the glass has come out of the glasswasher. My explanation was regrettably necessary as the barmaid (whom I had never seen in here before) had accidentally served me a pint of draught mild in a hot glass despite my request when ordering for her to please make sure that the bottom of the glass was cold â¬ a request which the barmaid unfortunately did not appear to understand.

Apparent attempts by the other barman to calm down â¬Sthe Licenseeâ¬ were to no avail and my wife and I accordingly departed amid r tirades of â¬Sfâ¬¦.off and get outâ¬ from the professed â¬SLicenseeâ¬ who refused to supply his name or cease swearing. A most unpleasant experience for my wife and I tinged with sadness at the rapid decline in the standard of service at this hitherto much-loved pub.

I have been to the Kings Arms a number of times now and keep going back - it is so easy to get to, only a few minutes from waterloo station

They serve great value tasty Thai dishes. Just been renovated (last week) much nicer now the old smokers walls have been washed down and painted. New carpets and furniture.
The Sunday Roast is the best in South London by a long way, and at only 7.95, you can't go wrong. Drinks are very reasonable (cheap for London).
Friday night Karoke run by the manager is a total laugh with the same locals turning up week after week (generally singing the same songs).

I'm ashamed to say Gabriel's Wharf was unbeknownst to me until last Thursday, when some friends suggested it as a place to go after we'd had a few drinks. It's like being on holiday down there! All that tongue and groove, the beach-hut colours, fairy lights and the smell of the sea...ok I mean river. We were too late to have a look round the shops so we made a bee-line for this Studio Six place. It wasn't that busy, and despite it being a bit cool we sat outside to soak up the atmosphere (although indoors looked perfectly atmospheric to me...)

Our waiter was great: humourous and attentive. So that's always nice. I wish I could report on a variety of dishes but I must confess that we all ordered the same thing - burger and chips. I nearly went for the chicken noodles but I would've have massive food jealousy when I saw the big juicy burger and the crunchy chips that came with it. My tummy is rumbling now at the thought of it! Mmmm. It was delicious, and I polished off the lot so let that be testament to how good it was.

I did have a good nosy at the food on other tables (as ever) and it all looked pretty good, decent enough portions, people with happy faces, etc. Its quite a varied mix of food, and I'm sure it probably changes a bit but I'm sure it would usually offer some kind of sausage or pie and mash, noodles, curry, risotto and pasta, as well as the usual burgers, steak and veggie options. No one should have a problem finding something they like. The prices aren't bad, especially given the location.

Lovely hidden pub in the heart of Oval - we used to go here when we lived in Oval and once you are in the garden, you escape all of the noise - feels more like a country pub!

The drinks are reasonable and food is good - they do an open BBQ in the summer months and will do your steaks/ swordfish etc outside which is a novelty :)Lovely hidden pub in the heart of Oval - we used to go here when we lived in Oval and once you are in the garden, you escape all of the noise - feels more like a country pub!
