Ok, so here's the contrary view! I don't doubt that this place can be good, but my experience was a little different. I went with an Italian friend who described the menu as "old fashioned favourites", which sounded perfect. The place was buzzing and full and although they had no recollection of my reservation, they found us a table nevertheless. Service was a little haphazard (we waited a while for our starters, then they brought our order twice - I wish we'd tucked in for a second time!) Mains and deserts were tasty but not grand. Total with a bottle of wine? Â£100 - so not too expensive given its location. The best part of the night was spotting a US tourist carrying a huge box of Krispy Kreme in a see-through Harrods bag. Go at lunch and try and get a table with a view of Hyde Park.

I am really fussy about where I see films and I loooove seeing stuff on the big screen (screen 1) at the Curzon Mayfair. It's a reassuringly 70s sort of space with a textural concrete interior but there are nice big seats and lots of space - and I promise that your fellow cinemagoers will not be the type to text their friends through the film or throw popcorn around!

There's also quite a nice relaxed bar where you can enjoy a bevvie beforehand. And when you step out into the night you can pretend (just for a minute) that you are heading to your flat on Berkeley Square :-)

Only caveat is that it's not worth seeing anything in any of the smaller screen here - screen 1 or nothing- the others are more of a 'home cinema' experience if you know what I mean. This is not just one of the best Italian restaurants in London but one the best in any cuisine.

I was there recently with a friend, we had a Dover Sole each for main course and shared another fo dessert! - They are absolutely superb.

The ambience and noise make this the wonderful restaurant it is - if you can't have a good time here you have a problem! This applies to both lunchtimes and evenings.

Not cheap but worth every penny - the old adage of "you only get what you pay for" is exemplified here.

Absolutely brilliant.

The Harvey Nicks cafe is quite a pleasant place to while away a lunchbreak or dinner, with nice service and a lovely view over Knightsbridge and beyond. It's a nice trad brasserie style menu (sandwiches, steaks, pasta) with a few nods to the Knightsbridge set in the form of salads and cocktails. It never gets too busy (in the PM at last) and you are almost guaranteed a nice-enough experience in one of the most exclusive areas of town.

Only caveat is that the bill always winds up being higher than you'd expect, mainly because the drinks are on the expensive side. It's hard to get a *bad* glass of wine here, but equally hard to get a *cheap* one, and the coffees and bottles of water add up too. oh this place is so sweet, but it's the aroma of perfectly baked loaves that makes my stomach rumble most.

Everything is baked freshly, daily and with panache to give variety of some really extraudinary and satisfying breads: their milk bread (slow-made, so i'm informed) is ideal for picnic sandwiches or just under toasting and spreading with lashings of quality thick marmalade. YUM!

Ingredients are freshely sourced, and flour stone-ground: And this in the world of bread making is supremely important! As a resulf loaves take on a smooth texture and lightness that tempts any taste buds. I remember the light golden crust of the rye and raison loaf I bought, but do not remember finishing it quite so quickly!

My experience is always happy one where fine flour means loaves are for tearing and eating fresh; and if you're feeling friendly sharing with others! Only a 5 minute stroll from work, the Kwality's eat-as-much-as-you-can buffet which is served lunchtime Monday to Friday is the place to come if you need a good feed. Usually Indian food at lunchtime is too heavy for me but Kwality's curries seem to be less stodgy - the problem is that i eat too much of it. The buffet consists of Onion bhajii's, salad, pilau rice, chicken korma, lamb curry, lentil curry and a vergetable curry. Not an extensive range but its not bad for the price. The restaurant is clean, modern but small so you might find you have to hover around for a bit before filling your plate. Food is fresh and they use Kwality (mind the pun) ingredients. However the curries could do with being spicier - I think they are addressing the mass market and perhaps the tourist that frequent the museum. More chilli please! A friend of mine lives round the corner from here, so when I visit I insist on a cheeky visit to the bongo sleekness of Eclipse.

Cocktails are pretty good, but its the atmosphere and friendly bar staff that does it for me!

This is a nice intimate venue that does make things 'cosy' when things get crowded. Definately worth a stay for the w/e crowd who are always fun, vibrant and sexy rather than over loud, overheard and over.

During the week things are more relaxed. And whether you find yourself in Eclipse on a w/e or weekday night the staff are attentive and keep the vibe friendly and funky.

Want a pub to show johnny-foreigner what a proper British pub is all about? Take your friends from overseas to The Grenadier and I think they will get the picture.

The Grenadier is ridiculously hidden away down a small private road just off Belgrave Square. Even with a map in my hand I stood at the entrance to the small cobbled lane thinking, well it can't be down here, how can my map be so wrong.

The beer is good and you can stand out on the street (they give you a plastic glass).

Part of me isn't too happy to share the knowledge of this pub with everyone because it is a hidden treasure trove and more to the point it isn't very big. After reading this review you really should reciprocate with your hidden treasures too!

I really recommend the Brompton Quarter, the food is amazingly fresh, most produces are organic, the choices of fresh juices are just incredible , I tried breakfast with my boyfriend who swears that it was the best English breakfast he ever had, I had the continental and was delicious. The other day my girlfriend organized a girls out and by coincidence I was back at the Brompton Quarter, we sat down stairs in this gorgeous room apparently the upholstery is all Designed by Kenzo, lovely fresh flower and the food was outstanding,(I didn't know they had this room down stair, can be very romantic) the chef came out and gave us an nice explanation to his creation which made it very personal and added to the excellent service, the girls loved it! There aren't many places to stop for a decent coffee and cake around Sloane Square and there is almost always room to sit upstairs at Peter Jones. The food is good enough (for the price), the coffee is OK, but the wonderful views are most likely obstructed by screaming kiddies running rampant around the place.

On the flip side, this is a very child-friendly place - lots of thought has gone into children's options, etc.

It's *very* popular at weekends though decent during the week. I'd avoid at peak shopping times. Being fanatic about Japanese food, I had an excellent meal at Nozomi on the weekend. The food quality and service was really first class and the staff were really nice & friendly.

Had a few drinks at the bar to begin with as we waited for our table and got chatting to a number of people in a really interesting crowd.

Service was great given how busy and popular the place is, even though not cheap but worth every penny.

I will definitely go back.Being fanatic about Japanese food, I had an excellent meal at Nozomi on the weekend. The food quality and service was really first class and the staff were really nice & friendly.

In the heart of Mayfair is a friendly looking Italian Pizzeria. Just the ticket for a low key business lunch or light relief from the more serious restaurants that festoon this posh neighbourhood.

After noting this place for a long while I finally got to eat there the other day when I was taken there by a savvy local punter. This place is a pizzeria through and through and be warned: The Pizza's are utterly enormous, in fact the largest I think I have ever seen (befitting of Mayfair I suppose). The silver lining is that the pizza's are super thin, in the best Italian tradition.

This place is something of a rarity in the area, so it gets fiendishly booked up. Even for lunch you would be wise to book up in advance.

This is a great thai restaurant serving a very fine thai food. Of course it is a high end place with the prices that come along, but overall if you are after something more elaborate than a quick and dirty pad thai, then this is a great place to go. Service is top notch, even if it can be a bit busy, with a crowd of business people having a semi-casual night out. Interior design is on par with what you are expecting from a restaurant of this standard. Worth the trip to the Victoria area for a dinner.This is a great thai restaurant serving a very fine thai food. Booked a table last Thursday through toptable for me and my work colleagues as a treat to the start the long weekend. I had been to Viktor before but only using the toptable 50% discount. The deal is fantastic as it allows you to order lots of dishes without feeling too guilty about the bill.

So 7 of us were lucky enough to sample the delights of Viktor and the whole experience was fantastic from beginning to end. The food was quite delicious and at the highest quality - a must for those sushi lovers out there who are also willing to try some more original variations on Japanese cuisine. We shared the Agedashi Tofu and the Honey and Almond Tempura which left us wanting more. The tofu was amazing and was so fresh it just melted in your mouth. Also the Tempura was fantastic - such light batter and not at all greasy.

Next came the sushi - all beautifully aesthetic and freshly prepared by the Japanese sushi chef. The sashimi was equally as good especially the yellowfin whihc was simply outstanding. We took advantage of the offer and continued ordering until we were all very full and could eat no more. The bill came up to Â£20 per person which was incredible given the amount that we ate and the high quality of it all.

Every time I've been to Viktor, the restaurant has been empty but if you come here for the wonderful food you won't be be too concerned about the lack of customers. I say give it a go - you really won't be disappointed.

This place let me down a bit, my Mother loves a good chauteu Margaux and they didnt even have that, I have to say something that is supposed to sell everything was very poor..
Also the V floor food hall, has gone right down aswell. mind you it was only relativley recently the V floor bar, stopped the sale of "pay by the hour fun", from the wide range of females ranging from lithuanian to Chilean young ladys.
