Mai Sushi is a small family restaurant in a quiet, but central location. The place itself has a very basic dÃ©cor, more like a cafe than a restaurant really but it's plain, clean and unfussy which is no bad thing really. The staff are really very lovely, they seem genuinely friendly and are both helpful and knowledgeable. They've recently started putting a few tables outside on the pavement under their awning which we really enjoyed. The street is wide and there seems to be a lot of interesting stuff going on.
Food wise, the sushi is excellent, there's a wide range of to choose from and it's made fresh and delicious. One slight downside is that the non-sushi dishes I've had there are really quite awful, the noodles are bland and tasteless for example but if you stick to the sushi and it is, of course, a sushi restaurant you'll be more than fine. Particularly good are the bento boxes where you get a huge amount of different types of fish for a very reasonable Â£12. My partner was really knocked out by the soft shell crab. That brings me to one of the most excellent things about Mai Sushi - the price. It really is very reasonable, particularly for the area and the quality of the cooking.
If you're stuck at Kings Cross or Euston and don't fancy any of the over priced corparate fare on offer, just pop a couple of street over to Mai Sushhi, it's a really lovely, simple and unpretentious place.Mai Sushi is a small family restaurant in a quiet, but central location. Pizza Express is bassically a glammed up version of Pizza Hut but a very good one at that. The food is freshly made on the premises and is delicous. The staff are lovely and the restaurant has a posh and modern feel to it. They do not only serve pizza. Pasta and salad is also on the menu. The pizza at pizza express is more rustic and italian than that served at pizza hut. Ok so as soon as you walk past this place you would normally keep on going, it looks dirty and horrid and awful. I didnâ¬"t have this choice as I was supposed to meet someone here (not suggested by me!) I was led downstairs (even worse) to a small area with tables and benches and plastic table cloths. I thought a drink would help only to be told their was no liquor licence!!! The food was actually ok and I didnâ¬"t die of food poisoning either, I had fully expected to get quite ill! I have no idea why they donâ¬"t tidy/clean this place up after all the business rates must be high so how do they make ends meet! if you are looking online (you must be or you wouldnâ¬"t be reading this!) then donâ¬"t go here, its just not nice. I confess that we did go to this restaurant partly because we saw the TV programme - but also because my husband works just around the corner and had been watching the renovations, and also because the idea of sourcing food locally in London really appeals.

We went on a Saturday evening, but had an early booking so it wasn't too busy.

This was some of the best food I have ever had. I started with a salad, which is not an option I would normally go for, but it was absolutely delicious - including a perfectly soft boiled egg and some local blue cheese. Yum.

The main was pork belly, which is something we often see being cooked on TV programmes but which we haven't had the courage to try ourselves. It was absolutely delicious, melt in the mouth tasty.

The service was great and the decor is interesting - on the TV show they said that the chains were supposed to bring in light from the windows to the tables so I spent some time trying to decide if that was actually feasible (it was dark when we were there so I couldn't see it in action).

I can't wait to go back.

Although no one thing about Camino is excellent, the whole package is very good indeed. The setting, in the quiet but elegant inner courts of Kings X, is unusual for London. The tapas is pretty good, with some really nice dishes, like the ham and cheese croquettes (no idea if these are really very Spanish, but they are certainly yummy). Makes for a great lunch meeting venue - seats at a high bar table, a mix of tapas, sherry to start... and you're away. But it really comes alive after the local workers knock off for the day, and descend with a thirst for cava, red wine, lager (elegantly served in jugs and iced mugs) and more. Canal 125 is the kind of pub I like - it has a bit of variety in what it offers to you as a venue...
You can eat outside beside the canal, or use the private rooms upstairs, including cushioned corners and a balcony overlooking, erm, Caledonian Road. Or you can stay inside downstairs and enjoy the long bar, wooden floors, and good food (I'm a sucker for big mirrors, and they've got a real crowd-pleaser in there).

The selection of beers is unchallenging but good, and almost any other drink is available, including good coffee.

The food is cheap but expensive, and generally yummy. Fish pie is excellent (ceamy, with plenty of chunky fish and seafood), and the beef burgers are popular. The slightly more refined corn fed chicken with chorizo, roasted peppers and artichokes is very good too.

Never crowded, but often busy. Even if it's deserted though, the vibe is still good. Ive been meaning to go to this place for sometime so evenutally myself and a group of friends eventually got together for friends leaving bash there.
The restaurant is really niceley done up, it certainly builds up your expectations on the food side. A lot of money has been spent here, the main feature being a large central kitchen where all the food is freshly cooked. There were around 30 of us and we pretty much had everything they had to offer, worthy of mention is the Chinese Stir fry, the indian chicken tikkas and fresh nan which went down pretty well. A great feature we thought was the live grill on the italian side where you got italian chicken parmazan cooked freshly amongst other a la carte items, not something other buffet restaurants do. The variety of dishes is good, cocktails were great and we really had a good time. The staff were ever so helpful and special thanks to manager for accomodating us on such short notice. Food in general has very good flavour.

The downside is that the portion is way to small, particularly for the dishes such as Dora Wot and the vegetable menus. There is one egg (which seems to be standard) but only ONE little piece of chicken in Dora Wot. Having lived in Ethiopia myself and cooked Dora Wot myself, this is definitely a rip-off in my opinion.

Also, the Injera (the Ethiopian bread) is a bit too thick, nearly twice the thickness the usual injera you would get in Ethiopia or many Ethio restaurants abroad.Food in general has very good flavour.
