I think that one of the most refreshing drinks you can have is a smoothie and they are much healthier than fizzy drinks as they are made from fruit. Thatâ¬"s why I try to drink them as often as possible. I came across Smooth Juice the other day and decided that I just had to try one of their smoothies. These are freshly made so you know that what youâ¬"re drinking is good. I have bought several smoothies from here over the past couple of months and have always found that they taste amazing. Also you can chose what it is you want to go into your smoothie so youâ¬"re definitely going to like it. Fruit Juice contains a lot of antioxidants so it will help you to feel better physically as well as mentally. The Somerstown Coffee House is a really wonderful place, recently taken over by two sisters from France. They have hired a fantastic, dedicated waiting staff who really know their stuff, devised a very good French menu and serve real ale. There's a restaurant in part of the pub which is sectioned off, but you can eat the restaurant menu in the main bar if you'd like.
Importantly, the interior is very comfortable and low key without being soulless or seeming corporate. The lighting is warm and restful and the front and back gardens are lovely.
It's usually quite quiet apart from after work type times when it's crowded. Having only recently started to open at the weekends (as of September 08), it's very peaceful then, although it gets busier the more people get to know about it.
They welcome dogs too, an increasing rarity, and always bring over a bowl of water and the occasional snack for my battle-scarred staffy.

Rating: 4.00I think that the station terminal is as well provided for as any of the major UK airports. There is a great variety of things to eat whilst waiting for your train which now thankfully seem to be on time. I visited the yo sushi recently and thought it was great. If you wanted to take some lunch with you ( as prices on the train tend to be high) you could always visit the m&s simply food. For reading material you could visit 1 of the 2 w h Smiths stores for a magazine or 2 to pass the time. The King Charles was a regular lunch time haunt for me for many years. As k_thrn says - it's a pub and it's grim BUT they've a good jukebox, a fire in the winter, even a cat at times. But what really makes it for me is that you can order in food from anywhere you like, you can bring your packed lunch in if you wish!

Recommended if you fancy a drink and any of the cheap and cheerful food from the area - be it African, Thai, Malaysian or some fried eggs and chips from the Blue River Cafe across the road. There's seats outside too. I always found the staff really friendly and I enjoyed those occasional Friday lunches. Pizza Express is bassically a glammed up version of Pizza Hut but a very good one at that. The food is freshly made on the premises and is delicous. The staff are lovely and the restaurant has a posh and modern feel to it. They do not only serve pizza. Pasta and salad is also on the menu. The pizza at pizza express is more rustic and italian than that served at pizza hut. Ok so as soon as you walk past this place you would normally keep on going, it looks dirty and horrid and awful. I didnâ¬"t have this choice as I was supposed to meet someone here (not suggested by me!) I was led downstairs (even worse) to a small area with tables and benches and plastic table cloths. I thought a drink would help only to be told their was no liquor licence!!! The food was actually ok and I didnâ¬"t die of food poisoning either, I had fully expected to get quite ill! I have no idea why they donâ¬"t tidy/clean this place up after all the business rates must be high so how do they make ends meet! if you are looking online (you must be or you wouldnâ¬"t be reading this!) then donâ¬"t go here, its just not nice. I confess that we did go to this restaurant partly because we saw the TV programme - but also because my husband works just around the corner and had been watching the renovations, and also because the idea of sourcing food locally in London really appeals.

We went on a Saturday evening, but had an early booking so it wasn't too busy.

This was some of the best food I have ever had. I started with a salad, which is not an option I would normally go for, but it was absolutely delicious - including a perfectly soft boiled egg and some local blue cheese. Yum.

The main was pork belly, which is something we often see being cooked on TV programmes but which we haven't had the courage to try ourselves. It was absolutely delicious, melt in the mouth tasty.

The service was great and the decor is interesting - on the TV show they said that the chains were supposed to bring in light from the windows to the tables so I spent some time trying to decide if that was actually feasible (it was dark when we were there so I couldn't see it in action).

I can't wait to go back.

I went to this venue about to see The Fratellis playing live. The gig had been moved from UCL to here and at a different date. Although the tickets were only Â£5, hardly anyone showed up for the gig - there were around 200 people there.
I found the whole Scala experience really nice, it was easy to get to from Kings Cross station, the bar staff were very friendly, the band was great and due to the quietness of the evening the gig was rally personal.
The building has 3 levels, the ground floor is a large sloped dancefloor, the first floor is another large balcony floor with a bar and some seating, I can't remember what the 2nd floor was!

Rating: 5.00I love burger king. It offers superb food in a great modern store for great prices.
The burgers are flame grilled and have lots of flavour to provide that super taste. The salad used in the burgers tastes so fresh its amazing.
The store has so many seats to cope with demand, meaning there is always a seat to perch on to enjoy your meal.
The staff are very helpful and very fast I recieved my burger chips and drink in around 30 seconds after ordering!
Burger King provides a busy yet somehow peaceful environment to enjoy your meal. Highly reccomend!I love burger king. It offers superb food in a great modern store for great prices.

A bit out of the way in Kings X, but with a kinda cool access route over the old Thameslink tracks, Smithy's is a characterful pub converted out of adjoining old buildings. The bar area is stone-floored and has a high ceiling, and the drinks are cold (yum). Prices are a bit steep but not too onerous. Lincoln Lounge is as close as a pub gets to the office without waiting for you in reception. It's a nice pub, but personally I think it's appeal is undermined by weird decor (shaped wire female torsos, car mark badges glued on canvas, etc.) and the slightly edgy vibe you get from the staff. Although no one thing about Camino is excellent, the whole package is very good indeed. The setting, in the quiet but elegant inner courts of Kings X, is unusual for London. The tapas is pretty good, with some really nice dishes, like the ham and cheese croquettes (no idea if these are really very Spanish, but they are certainly yummy). Makes for a great lunch meeting venue - seats at a high bar table, a mix of tapas, sherry to start... and you're away. But it really comes alive after the local workers knock off for the day, and descend with a thirst for cava, red wine, lager (elegantly served in jugs and iced mugs) and more. I give this one 5 stars purely from affection. The food - a mix of Italian sandwiches and pastas - is good but nothing special (although a LOT better than an M&S dullwich).

I love it because the coffee is tasty, the latte's foamy, and you always get a strong little macaroon with it. The tables are far enough apart for a legitimate meeting to be held there - much more relaxed than a meeting room in the office building!

And I have a soft spot for the tacky plastic tablecloths with red checks, and black vinyl chairs with chrome hooped backs - it's like a dream of an Italian coffee shop seen through a London lense.I give this one 5 stars purely from affection. Canal 125 is the kind of pub I like - it has a bit of variety in what it offers to you as a venue...
You can eat outside beside the canal, or use the private rooms upstairs, including cushioned corners and a balcony overlooking, erm, Caledonian Road. Or you can stay inside downstairs and enjoy the long bar, wooden floors, and good food (I'm a sucker for big mirrors, and they've got a real crowd-pleaser in there).

The selection of beers is unchallenging but good, and almost any other drink is available, including good coffee.

The food is cheap but expensive, and generally yummy. Fish pie is excellent (ceamy, with plenty of chunky fish and seafood), and the beef burgers are popular. The slightly more refined corn fed chicken with chorizo, roasted peppers and artichokes is very good too.

Never crowded, but often busy. Even if it's deserted though, the vibe is still good. Kings Cross St Pancreas, is not really known as a 'high end' classy joint, but a bar set above the main station does give the dash to the platform a certain vava voom (or that could just be the proximity of the French and less than two hours to Paris Eurostar.

There's a certain charm to sitting on high and being able to survey all that surrounds you whilst supping on champangne. Just one small qualm, unless its a balmy day do make sure you take a cover up, as in the words of 'your mother' things can get a tad chilly and drafty.

Otherwise enjoy take the departure announcements, take in the rush, rush, rush of other passengers and gaze lovingly into your companions eyes before being whisked away on your own journey. Oh the romance.

Sadly my own stopping here was not for a romantic interlude. My train was delayed by two hours, and this seemed more exciting than the local Starbucks.

Mai Sushi is a small sushi restaurant and takeaway located between Euston and Kings Cross in an unappealing street. Not my usual part of town, but I was motivated to visit after reading the positive reviews on TrustedPlaces coupled with some major sushi cravings of late.

Arriving at around 7pm on a Friday night, we were the only customers there. We were given a warm greeting and shown to a large table in the basically decorated, but attractive dining area. No other customers arrived while we were there - let's hope they get plenty of custom from the nearby offices at lunch time.

We spent some time reading through the large menu, which was filled with the usual sushi options, and were pleased to see that prices seemed to be lower than average. We started with a miso soup each, which was not one of the better ones I have had (to my taste). It wasn't quite hot enough and a bit weak.

Things improved with our sushi selection - we ordered their House platter, which gave us a good mix of sashimi, nigiri, and cut sushi roll. We also ordered some Eel nigiri and some extra tuna sushi roll. Loved it all, and the sashimi was particularly melt-in-your-mouth.

Service was very friendly and thoughtful, sushi was fresh and good quality, and the rice didn't have that 'been refrigerated' taste.

If I worked in the area I would definitely become a regular. Things improved with our sushi selection - we ordered their House platter, which gave us a good mix of sashimi, nigiri, and cut sushi roll. We also ordered some Eel nigiri and some extra tuna sushi roll. Loved it all, and the sashimi was particularly melt-in-your-mouth.

Service was very friendly and thoughtful, sushi was fresh and good quality, and the rice didn't have that 'been refrigerated' taste.

If I worked in the area I would definitely become a regular. Giving it 3 stars, though it is worth 3.5 stars.
