No matter how much this place is dissed and damned, come rain or shine, credit crunch or not, thereâ¬"ll always be a queue outside this restaurant with eager diners awaiting their portions of the supposedly legendary roast duck.

This is what we had this evening:

Crab and Fish Maw (stomach) Soup- Pricey and blandish.

Beef brisket in Hot Pot- Melt in the mouth and delicious

Dover sole (Quick deep-fried and then steamed)- Absolutely scrumptious, the fish was actually large and properly fresh.

Stir Fried Morning Glory (water convolvulus)- Bland and under seasoned.

Roast Duck- Whatâ¬"s all the fuss about? It tasted pretty much generic and made worst with the over sweet dark gravy. The only saving grace with the duck served here was its perceived lack of fattiness. If youâ¬"re looking for the real thing I suggest either New Fook Lam Moon or Tai Ka Lok in Chinatown.

So thatâ¬"s 2 out of 5 for the food, and now for the service; like the dinosaurs, service is sadly extinct at the Four Seasons. Iâ¬"m not even going to suggest that the service was rude, I canâ¬"t, as it just simply wasnâ¬"t there! You know what, I might even pop down to the Natural History Museum this weekend to trawl for some evidence that service did indeed exist at some point in time at the Four Seasons.

The main irony with dining here lies in the rather uneasy paradox of dormant service is thus rewarded with that great 21st century phenomenon known as the forced 12.5% gratuity thatâ¬"s been added to your bill.

Maybe I was lucky and chose my food well or maybe it was the cheery spirit of a friends birthday lunch or maybe it was a beautiful blue skied September day: Kensington Roof Gardens was simply ace.

I have not been here for a while and when it is a clear sunny day, it is a wonderful place to rise above the hubbub of London, have a drink on the balcony and cast your eye across the cityscape.

I had the Eel and Horseradish appetizer - wow and double wow. I would go back for that alone. I also had some soup envy on my right - looked rather winning.

Beach Blanket Babylon is one of London's trendiest bars and has a buzzing restaurant. It is beloved by the Notting Hill set and typifices the idea of style over substance. Which is why we went there in the first place!

Your senses are blown away by the over the top decorations - it couldn't be more rococo if it tried.

No matter how trendy or posh you think your restaurant is... there are some basic catering rules that you can't break. Such as don't swear at the customers. Don't serve unhygenic food. Make sure there aren't any mouse-traps on show... etc. Common sense basically.

3 plates of perfectly good sushi arrived at our table along with some sets of chopsticks. The light wasn't great... but it was bright enough to detect a luminous green glow. On closer inspection we realised that the chopsticks were covered in a furry green mould. Gross! The elegant waitress simply took them back and didn't even consider apologising for it!

Although billed as a Turkish restaurant on most sites, itâ¬"s also to all intents and purposes a greasy spoon cafÃ© for AM patrons like myself. In fact itâ¬"s probably the only non-greasy greasy spoon I know off, in terms of both cooking and hygiene.

Breakfast options include posh Eggs Benedict and Smoked Salmon Scrambled Eggs, Croque Monsieur, simple cornflakes and many more. But I come here for the fry-ups, the cholesterol inducing Full English and a perfect cup of tea. Apart from the ubiquitous kebabs for a quick lunch takeaway try a Spinach and Feta Cheese GÃ¶zleme (Turkish hand rolled pastry) instead, itâ¬"s deliciously filling and cheap. Organic burgers and organic wines are feted at this place as well; credit is thus deserved for this practice alone.

Service is friendly and efficient from the waiting staff that has been recruited from the â¬ÜUnited Colors of Benettonâ¬" ideology. Great value comfort food in Notting Hill methinks.

Located near the Kensington Garden Hotel and Royal Albert hall, Koi, is at the very start of Palace Gate. For a quiet and discrete Sushi experience that is easily amongst the best in London, this is the place to go to. Slightly better than Nobu for Sushi (despite Nobu London's prestigious 1 Michelin Star and no.30 San Pellegrino world ranking), although I do prefer Nobu for entrees and an overall experience and ambience.

The Dragon Roll sushi is outstanding, from the perfect ripeness of the avocado and more, as is the soft shell crab roll.

My husband's choice so I wasn't expecting much, ha! But everything about this little place was just great. Welcoming staff, we took the specials as they sold them so well. This is the original place famed for its lobster noodle. We came in a group of ten. The recommendation is to have half a lobster per person and so we ordered a huge plate of lobster noodle with five lobsters. The portions were huge and each person were given the appropriate special utensil to pick out the lobster flesh. And as an added bonus, the night we went, Rick Stein was there. And being an absolute seafood foodie, his presence in that restaurant must be a stamp of approval for seafood. what a great place! As soon as we went in we received a warm welcome, got given a great seat downstairs, and given excellent service. Be advised to book a few days earlier, it can get busy. We sat in one of the booths downstairs which was really nice. Quality of the food was really good and tasty, a little expensive but you get what you pay for. While we were there, they had belly dancers going around the restaurant, which was nice and added to the general good mood. The waiter was accurate and polite, I really recommend this place! I have been there on weekends, it can get quite busy! I prefer to go Monday-Friday if I can.what a great place! I didn't realise this was a chain until i read the previous review. I thought it was a family run business. Thats certainly the feel you get when you dine there anyway! The place is decorated as you would expect of a high class indian restaurant and the service here is perfect. Staff so friendly and all want to help! The menu choice is wide ranging and I had trouble deciding what to have! The waiter gave me suggestions which i'm pleased to say he knew what he was talking about! I eat in this restaurant frequently, lovely ambience and a nice place to go for lunch. It's not a particularly cheap Thai though - it is in Kensington though so that's not to be expected.

Lovely atmosphere, great surroundings, nice food, although certainly not the best thai in London as some of my colleagues proclaim.

If you're in the area, it's a good choice. Go for the set menu at lunch or look for an online discount for the evening. They do a lovely Pad Kaprow with a beautiful sauce, and the Pad Thai/Curries are lovely, but not perfectâ¬¦ I do have high Thai food standards though.

I personally prefer the upstairs less formal bench seating to the downstairs area.

It is only Â£30 for three courses and for Â£12 more you can have two glasses of wine, mineral water and coffee. The chef is currently running a special Lyonnais menu in hommage to his father - the chef is from Lyon apparently. Last week when I was there they had a saucisson in brioche with a rich red wine sauce, and then pike quennelles on a bed of spinach with a prawn sauce, and to follow, heavenly Iles Flotantes - true French food! The Notting Hill Brasserie is expensive, classic, and very good. It is what used to be called "International" in cuisine - they might call it "modern British" but I don't really know what that means - so a mixed classic menu with an extensive and expensive wine list with meat and potatoes however nicely put together forming the bedrock of the main courses. It is the preferred restaurant of the American hedge fund set, so the other diners are slightly older, well-dressed, and discreet. Nowhere in W11 requires a jacket but if they did, this would be the place. Wodka is something really different to the standard pretentious and often mediocre offerings in Kensington. Tucked away in the back street, you'll need a map to find it (or a taxi) but it's definitely worth the walk. Inside the tables a haphazardly placed (or so it seems) behin pillars and around corners but the layout works well with the tables not too close together. The menu is a real treat - very differnt. The dishes are mostly quite heavy, making this a great place to go on a cold and dreary winter's evening but there are a few lighter choices as well. The food is always very good quality and it's great to try something different. The vodka list must be seen to be believed. A really comprehensive list of every vodka you could imagine and many you have never dreamed of. Some are homemade, some imported and all are worth are try. I've visited this restaurant twice now, and although it definitely is priced above student budget, it makes a nice meal out. The waiting time wasn't unreasonable, and the menu always had something for everybody. The food has been delicious each time I've been, although if you are not used to London prices, you may be expecting to get more for your money. The restaurant serves very good Italian food and the restaurant is very nicely decorated and well staffed. It has to be noted, however, that some of the staff members have been quite ''in-your-face'' at times, and that might well be snobbery from not being very student friendly. The atmosphere generally has been very pleasant on all the occasions that I have gone. The title sums it up really. This company likes to cram in as many customers as possible into their restaurant. The effect is that of a school cafeteria. People desperately trying to talk over eachother, overcrowding and the dreaded children. Ideal for a quick meal at lunch time but it is not recommended for dinner.

Although, I simply cannot get enough of the food. The bowls of noodles are so vast with cocktails of marvellous flavour that makes you wish this fast, overcrowded, loud and uncomfortable meal will never end.

the service of this restraunt should be one factor why i would like to go here again. the clientle of this restraunt indicated to me that its a well known place, the prices are competitve in some cases but the prices for the rice dishes to me seemed on the higher end marginally but was not a cause of concern, i ordered a vindaloo curry, it was nicely finished, i also had the makhni curry which is worth mentioning, i topped this out with a mango lassi and scoop of choc ice cream for dessert, all in all was good experience. what i must say abt d decor is dat it is a little bold but dat depends whether u like it or not as dey say beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder.

I had a terrible experience in that place and I do NOT recommend it at all.

First of all: the service is terrible; so slow and the waiter was too arrogant.

Also, they serve food that is not the same as internationally known. I requested Dahl Makkani, and I got a weird dish, and when I complained, they told me this is our version!!!

The food is not value for money as well.

The great thing about this place is that youâ¬"ll probably want to eat everything thatâ¬"s on the menu. So no surprises with repeat visits.

The cooking and flavourings of the dishes are pretty much spot on and authentic. Service can be hectic when it gets busy; in fact come to think of it I donâ¬"t think this place is ever quiet.

Great value palatable tuck and a great refreshing alternative to the usual chicken chow mein or chicken tikka masala.
