It was an ominous start, we ordered a cab who couldn't find Kennington Lane, so be careful you get the address right. We visited in the week, so it wasn't too busy. The atmosphere is fantastic and welcoming, it felt more like visiting someone who was a superb chef. We also engaged in lively discourse with some other diners who were from the states. The decor is kitsch but good, including the novelty of the loos, which I will leave you to discover. The food is french and fish based, absolutely cooked to perfection with the whole place having an authentic feel to it. The pricing wasn't too bad for a London restaurant and well worth it. It's good to have a late night bar in Vauxhall, amidst its many clubs.

The venue is well spaced out, well lit (I think it's actually been made environmentally friendly: the lights are low energy and consequently air conditioning that would counter the head this produces is used much less), and holds the atmosphere well.

Bar prices are standard, and if you apply for a dog-tag on their website, you can get 2-4-1s on a few of their drinks (Corona is one).

The bar staff are always friendly and helpful.

The crowd is mixed - mixed ages, mixed 'types' - but the bar is more at the bear end of the spectrum.

The dance room at the other end of the bar is good for some sweaty fun later on in the night/early morning.

Good house music, with a DJ playing in the evenings at the weekend.

The Prince of Wales, whilst compact, is still goshdarnit, a lovely place to while away the hours in an unexpected and attractive part of Kennington; Cleaver Square.

The pub itself is a strictly orthodox affair; a small pub grub menu, a couple of decent cask-conditioned ales and lagers on tap (with an interesting choice of Oranjeboom and Holsten on tap) with limited seating inside and a couple of outside tables on the pavement by the square. Whilst I'm sure it's not strictly legal, it's also good for summer drinks in Cleaver Square itself, and it's not uncommon to see folks clutching a pint whilst playing boules in the square.

Whilst Kennington probably has better pubs in the Prince of Wales, few have the character or the atmosphere that the Dog House has.

Yes, the service can be downright diabolical at times, but in my own experience it tends to be a hit and miss affair erring more towards hit; it's just a busy pub at a busy crossroads and are just as applicable at The White Hart across the road or even the PoW.

That said, the food is always excellent with a wide menu and a decent Sunday roast. There's also a good if unremarkable selection of beers on tap. It also attracts a young and relaxed crowd thrown in the odd minor celebrity (Keith from The Office, anyone?). Add to this the fact that it has bags of character and a quiet upstairs section with really comfy seats then it's not hard to realise you can do much worse in Kennington. Watch Surrey cricket club play their games from as little as Â£15. This is a modern stadium set in the heart of london with the iconic gas tower overlooking the stadium. The stadium has recently been refurbished and is now very modern. The food is usual stadium food but is well priced and served with a smile!
The pitch is a good quality test match pitch. The toilets are very good and cleaned reguarly

The Oval - a place to marvel at the tradition that is British cricket!

The Oval often takes a back seat to Lords as the Country's main cricket ground however having seen a test match recently the Oval was superb. All stands give a great view of the action and it is so easy to get to

This is my Friday lunch spot. The pub is run by a German Couple kicking out hearty, satisfying, sleep inducing German food. The menu is fantastic, and a good value. Schnitzel, and roast potatoes and a drink for about Â£5.

The only thing Iâ¬"ve stumbled across that I didnâ¬"t like was the roast in beer sauce? The above picture is the Jager Schnitzel, mushroom gravy and chips.
Simple and Satisfying.

The Pilgrim is a nice water hole just set a short walk away from the many lovely restaurants in Kennington so is always less packed so will be able to find a seat. The Pilgrim offer food, I would recommend there Sunday roast as they are of good quality, a large portion and reasonable priced. This pub also has different offers on different night of the week e.g. Thursday's is Ladies night and cocktails are 2 for 1. They also have a brilliant music system which will have any song you can think of.

Over all I found this place to be a nice cozy, friendly pub.

I like this Fish & Chip shop as you can eat in or take away! Nice to pop in after a couple of drinks on your way home and not have to stink your house out!! Always been a favourite to visit! Restaurant has just been re decorated and now has a nice modern feel to it. Menu has a great choice of curry's and specials. Excellent little restaurant - some of the nicest owners i've encountered.

Food is always great - i think they'd do well for concentrating on what they do best rather than extending the menu and over complicating things sometimes but pizza and pasta are top dog.

Top quality boozer. nothing fancy but has 2 projectors, excellent jukebox, pool, good bar staff, decent prices - everything!
