This really is an exceptional chocolate shop. A treasure trove of chocolate goodies, from salted caramels to chilli chocolate. It has an air of luxury about it and is a real treat. It's not cheap, but then why would it be? They sell gorgeous artisan chocolates and these come at a price. It's worth going alone for the hot chocolate, I had mine spiced with sichuan peppercorns and it was divine (check out the pic).

This is one of my favourite restaurants in London. Small portions (meze- or tapa- like)of excellent dishes based loosely on Mediterrannean cuisine. The experience starts with a most wonderful selection of home baked bread with olives (try the one with cheese and chillies... simpoly delightful). I usually go with my partner and we chose dishes each -one starter and one "main". For a more hearty dinner go for 3 dishes each. There is a sharing mentality in Ottolenghi's. Most people sit on the shared long tables (great opportunity to overhear interesting comversations :) and the food is to share with your partner... delightful. The best fish shop in the area. Always busy, always a queue - if you want something specific you'd better get there early. The staff are all good boys who know their fish. Delightful staff selling organic fruit and veg, cheeses, locally cooked quiches, pies and pastry goods. Also delicious handmade cakes. The chocolate brownies are to die for! This is one of the only proper supermarkets in the local area ,there are plenty of tesco metros and icelands but no big shops.
The quality is much better than tesco as is the choice but this shop is a complete nightmare to get back from if you dont drive as instead of a local cab firm you have the black cabs out the front.
there is always massive ques in this store and god help you if you try to shop here any time in december as its just crazy busy,

This place has some of the best cakes I've eaten in a while.

It also has some of the rudest, most disinterested staff I've ever encountered.

We had our order taken inside and it took the waitress foooooreveeeeer to make two cappuccinos and a hot chocolate. Then, when we were two minutes into drinking them outside, an angry looking different waitress came and took our cake plates moments after the last bites had made it into our mouths, clinking loudly as she went. A startled cry of 'we weren't finished!' did nothing to dissaude her. She was determined to hustle our plates and cups away from us. And the cakes were marvellous. Really. I had one of the best pasteis de nata ever. It's a crying shame to have to give it one star, but there you go.This place has some of the best cakes I've eaten in a while.

This is one of the gems of this end of Cally Road - the most amazing cheeses, incredible tinned tuna (Delicioso brand... nothing else will do once you've tried it), pastas and sauces. Well worth a regular visit to stock up on gourmet pantry essentials.

The elderly couple who run it have managed to preserve a sense of community with their customers, so be ready to wait a few minutes while family news is shared, and practice your Italian phrases when you can.

An early morning favourite on the weekend for my croissant and coffee with my Saturday paper - beautiful food, plenty of tables and reasonable prices.
