This is a great, reliable grocery shop and mini deli, a really mini deli. They have everything Olives, Bread, vegetables, some cakes, Oil etc. Whats good about this Greek place is they take an interest in food. They stock unusual fresh mushrooms this is good place to find Korean Cloudhead shaped fungi or white Asparagus. Outside they have the cheaper vegetables - at lower prices. On the whole the quality is good and if you delve around you'll find a few culinary treasures here worthy of Nigella or Jamie on a good day. They stock all sorts of exotic and mucho tasty fish here as well as more standard fare. The Kingfish and the Grouper are superb - just in from the dock that morning. The fish here is much cheaper and fresher than the local supermarket chains, Morrisons(Yuk) Waitrose(sorry). It's an Italian family business, the father is a classy gent and the sons are still learning the trade. There are some other fish shops nearby in the Nags Head market and they're pretty good too - but not as good as this.They stock all sorts of exotic and mucho tasty fish here as well as more standard fare. The well-groomed staff are first generation Italian with a touch of that lounge-lizard Italian style. Even in the winter they look slightly tanned. The accents are low-key and local, the attitude to food - pure Italian. They discuss is the way an amateur painter would drool over the old masters, kind of with a mixture of awe, reverence and carnality. They're always friendly to customers, sometimes they veer off in a hot-one with each other in Italian but that helps make the place more authentic. They're happy to let you sample at the deli counter where the food varies from the sublime to the fairly good. Around Christmas time they have a stock of imported goodies, Panoforte and biscuits. The really good brands go very fast and you have to get in their quick. The roast artichokes in jars are particularly yummy packed in extra thick Olive Olive they're wonderful. If your on a budget with a sweet tooth the filled cherry biscuits they sell are pretty wow. If your flush - the custard tarts will send you reeling. They have a permanent wine sale on the go. Two bottles of good cooking and glugging white or red - Â£5. Morrisons rocks - cheap prices for good quality produce (on the whole). Very important during the 'credit crunch', as the alternative nearby supermarket is Waitrose (expensive).

Look out for the weekly special offers if you're shopping on a budget. And if you are buying bread, you must try their tiger bread, it is gorgeous.

Petrol is cheap at Morrisons, so if you drive, make sure you fill up here.

The cafes are cheap and cheerful - fish and chips is always a good option. Toilets and baby changing facilities are handy in this area as well. Easy to get to on the main Holloway Road.
