Just a takeaway coffee - but it was totally scrummy - reminded me of some lovely Italian coffee I'd had in Austria. Guy serving was really great, very efficient and extremely pleasant, took lots of care and served the cup with a napkin. I'd detour to get one of these coffees again (that's sad, but I have to admit to being a bit of a coffee snob)Just a takeaway coffee - but it was totally scrummy - reminded me of some lovely Italian coffee I'd had in Austria. Highgate is a great location for a "civilised" pub crawl, and this venue is a good place to star, its quite a vibrant atmosphere, lots of good looking people, especially on a Friday night, and generally quite friendly. The place as far as I know, only does food on a sunday "A Roast", and thats it. Next door is Kiplings, a fantastic Indian restaurant, and opposite is a fine Gastro pub "the bull", so understanderbly plenty of good food near by.
Drinks are reasonable, and high quality, service quick. seating plentiful.

San Carlo used to be fantastic, but it has lost its charm and has lost its identity.
For some reason the new owner painted the walls black and hired loads of non english speaking staff. That did not work so she has now hired Americans, they are very nice but it would be better if they where trained to know the menu a little better without having to 'go and ask the chef' The food is very expensive,(well someone has to pay for the owners Porche) the food looks good, but it does not live up to expectations.

This used to have the reputation of being the best restaurant in Highgate, now its simply the most expensive

Highgate has loads of Pubs and very few restaurants, so the Pubs have turned their attention to serving food.
The Red Lion and Sun is building a fantastic reputation. Not only is the food cooked very well, but the menu is changed regularly and it is not overpriced like the Bull down the road.
There are open fires, a puppy and free internet access.

I liked everything about this pub, the staff are well trained.

This place is great for the Summer, a charmer of a pub inside and out, great fantastic food, great looking girls, and plenty of cool people in General.
This place in the summer, is best on the weekend afternoons, for chilling out, having fun with friends, looking for a prospective love one,
The only reason this gets a four and not a five, is their is a problem getting served quickly due to the small bar, and simply the popularity of the place,

Keeping on the Indian theme, I have to say that this restaurant in my opnion, has the best offering of Indian cuisine, that I have experienced outside of India,

From the begining until the end, the quality was high, popodoms, naan bread, and the ghost rogan josh incredible,

The Ambience is relaxed, extremely well presented, and the staff offer a great service, attending to every need.

This place from the outside is very understated, and can easily be missed, in the summer eating outside is great, the menu is fantastic, as is the wine list.

Location wise, its a bit pricey, however the food, is very good quality, and the decor is equally high end.

The staff could be a bit better, waiting staff were not attentive enough, for the price of the food.

The mixed Kebab, with everything is pretty good actually, I had one when I was sober, so thats a good start, in my opnion much better than the Planet Kebab down the road in Archway, which is also quite good.

Also they do pretty nice burgers aswell..
If you live nearby Archway, Hampstead or Highgate, then their kebabs in my opnion are the best.The mixed Kebab, with everything is pretty good actually, I had one when I was sober, so thats a good start, in my opnion much better than the Planet Kebab down the road in Archway, which is also quite good.

I love the food here and think it's fantastic.

Service can be a little slow but they are always very good at compensating if you point out the wait for food / drinks.

yes this place definitely has something going for it. The people and music were great. Everyone was really friendly from the owner, the lovely waitresses and the band that was playing - they even let me accompany them with the tambourine, that's how friendly. Your typical small Italian restaurant near Hampstead Heath. The place itself is nothing special, it's location is pretty good except for being on Highgate West Hill thus making it noisy due to the cars passing by. But the real treat about this place are the superb Calzones. I find it very hard to find good Calzones. What makes this one good is the quality of the dough and the proportion of dough used. The cheese and tomatoes are good too. Damn just writting this review makes me hungry now! So I would give it just a 3 for the place, but because I love Calzone's I'll give it a 4!
