This pub design has been very well thought of into the world of design but in the real world the actual service is crap!. I can not believe that the staff can drag down this name to a such low level! I remember a manager called "Pat" who made sure that your welcomed and wanted as a value customer.

But now....well now Tesco Value is better and what can I say? There food taste better (tesco Value that is) and they could learn some lessons from them. Come on since when does a packet of crisp mean bacon???? Man a child from kindergarden kop can do a better job!

Where is pat now? The Old White Lion, is a stones throw from East Finchley station, reasonably young crowd, supported by young bar staff, that are friendly, reasonably trendy, but could serve a bit quicker.
Pricewise not the cheapest place in the neighbourhood, but certainly not the most expensive.
Sunday Roasts are good, but their are better places nearby such as the Spaniards, The Windsor Castle or The Bald face Stag.
In the summer this place has a fantastic beer garden, that dispite being next to a busy road, and Junction, feels surprisingly tranquil.
The drinks / wine choice for a local pub is great, and is the real highlight of this establishment.

This very normal looking traditional pub, does a great sunday roast, plenty of meat, fresh vegetables, nice potatoes, and good quality gravey, all for the very low cost of Â£5.95.
The Thai food during the evenings, is pretty good aswell, especially the Thai Sizzing Beef, in Port, or the Thai Green Curry, All the food is cooked by a Thai chef, and the selection of Thai food is pretty good.

Seriously good value, and the manager PAT, is a great guy, welcomes everyone.

This place was awful, I use to walk past and thrown, at the st George flags, the baldy guys in england tops hanging outside, and the general apperance of a typical north london pub, you walk into with extreme caution

Then one day I noticed "closed for a refurb", the refurb was excellent, the place looks like a gastro pub, and thats exactly what it has become.

The restaurant area served up amazing prawns in a pan, followed by a fantastically cooked steak. The choice of drinks were pretty good, pricewise extremely good value. I took a friend and the total bill was less than Â£50,
