Saigon Saigon is so wonderful - very romantic with darkened rooms - the atmosphere was electric and wonderful attentive staff (I prefer them not too attentive as I want lots of time with my meal and my partner). My dish was the glass noodle clay pot one with seafood ...which I will have again soon...it's devine!! Very unusual and such a delicate combination of flavours.

Do not miss this experience at this restaurant, as it is one of the best in the Hammersmith/Chiswick area.

I have never really seen what the fuss is about with the River Cafe.

The food is a sort of pastiche of Tuscan/Umbrian cooking - way over priced.

A publication actually voted this the best Italian restaurant in the world which is of course a total disgrace.

The food here is not bad and ingredients are generally well chosen .

I guess because in general Italian restaurants in London or the UK are average to poor the River Cafe has thrived. Also a good PR machine and famous clientele helps.

The food is not a patch on the recently opened L'Anima in the City or Locanda Locatelli and Enonteca Tui.

And if you are looking for pastiche I recommend Petersham Nurseries !I have never really seen what the fuss is about with the River Cafe.

As someone who tends to eat Indian food often, I feel qualified to advise on the poor standard of the restaurant in question. I can appreciate that the taste varies on spice and the likes of but I was so disappointed with the food I did not eat more than a few mouths full. Even the naan bread was soggy and tastless. I have NEVER felt so disappointed with any food that I felt compelled to write a review!! Think that says it all. Used to be a regular, loved the food. But more recently I have experienced abysmal service. Missing meals, delays & staff completely un-helping & un-caring when such mishaps arise. I hope for the sake of others, I am catching Thai Kitchen on really bad days.

Friendly local place, perfect for your local favourite restaurant. An institution in my family.

This building was originally a public loo, not that you'd know it now. It's had two owners since opening in the mid 90s, both of whom are/were lovely. I used to walk past it on the way to school and call in occasionally when nature dictated. Sad as I was to see the loos go, life would have been less fun had La Piccola not appeared in the loo's place.

Look beyond the appearance. The decor hasn't been updated for a while - it's the food you're here for. Pay particular attention to the specials board where the lamb diavola and steak boscaiola are particularly popular with me and my guests. These are more expensive than the menu, but worth paying extra for if you like your meat. Also ask for the raddichio/pancetta salad. Not on the menu these days but they'll do it if they have the ingredients and you ask nicely. Heaven in a starter.

Menu items are very good value too. I've paid much more for worse meals in soho - am thinking the likes of Little Italy. In these financially-afflicted times, this place is a real godsend for a good value night out. The salsiccia (spicy sausage), penne padrino and salmon fettucine are all recommended.

Best calzone you'll find for miles. And if you're really nice you might get a shot of Amaretto with the bill, particularly if you speak nicely of Napoli, the owner's team.Friendly local place, perfect for your local favourite restaurant. An institution in my family.

You have to get here early if you want to get yourself a table at Patio without having to stand about being entertained by the madness within for half an hour or so. You get shouted at for everything by the wonderful lady that runs the joint; the waitresses do indeed say 'thank you' after everything you say (and it becomes harder and harder to stifle the giggles, especially when you're having a wine); the between-course vodka is a throat-burning treat; and the food is top notch winter-warming sustenance that will fill you right up and have you happily queuing to come back for more. Awesome hearty stews and not a bad choice of wine and beer. Adams Cafe is a very well established local restaurant. They have the best Couscous Royale in London if not the UK. Their tagines are lip smacking. The starters are perfect and their welcome is warm. The wine list is well matched and they allow byo as well.

Okay - so it is not the greatest ambience you've ever seen. Frankly, sometimes I go in and I'm one of 2-3 other tables in the whole place... Maybe not a place for a first date.. but catching up with an old friend or family, Green Chilli is your place!

Without exception, the only truly great steak houses that I have ever visited (Luger's, Hawksmoor, Strip House) have made a virtue out of their limited menus. At Luger's, they prefer you don't even ask for a menu, and instead order "steak for four" and hope for the best. Even at Hawksmoor, where, as a rather patronising concession to non-carnivores they offer one fish and one vegetarian dish, the menu is short and direct - beef steaks in three different varieties in two different sizes, alongside lamb and pork. Sides are extra. A proper steakhouse should be all about the steak, and if the item you are ordering costs anything less than Â£20 and sits alongside Chicken Kiev or Crab Tagliatelle on a large menu, be warned.

With this in mind, the menu at Popeseye in Kensington reads like a steak-lover's dream. Three different cuts of meat each served in five different sizes, and that's it. Chips come whether you like them or not, and the only additional side is a Â£3.95 bowl of salad. It is a menu that quite simply has everything going for it, and it was therefore all the more of a crushing disappointment to eventually taste the food.

My Â£18.45 12oz rump steak was first of all cut incredibly strangely - it looked like two huge lobes of liver flattened out to cover the entire plate. Being so thin it was, of course, overcooked, and though not tough the poor quality meat hadn't contained enough fat to create a good char, and instead was just bitter and burned in places. A friend's 8oz rump was thicker and therefore more easily medium-rare but still of the same poor quality, tasteless watery meat. The menu proudly claims the beef is hung for two weeks and is from 100% Aberdeen Angus cattle, but then you can get an Aberdeen Angus steak from Burger King these days and they taste like crap too (in the interests of research, before you say anything). Accompanying chips were bland and insipid, the kind you would get at any high-street pub.

So essentially we have a steakhouse that serves literally nothing but steak, and can't cook steak at all. I can't explain the good press this place has been getting (the door is plastered with the usual Timeout awards) but I can say that for more or less the same price you can get a dictionary-thick slice of 28-aged sirloin that will blow your mind in Hawksmoor at the other end of town, and a beautiful cup of triple-cooked chips that rank with the best in the city. We can all chat about Spanish food, but the priory is simply the best for tapas in area, having an affordable menu which cost from Â£4, the food has touch of the basc country which is great.

The decor is modern , you feel that you are in a romantic night and your wine will let you stay there for longer.

If your looking for a place to relax and have good wine, this is the place. service was great, and the bread and olives, just right...Iâ¬"m sure the olives have been marinated for some time. I was very happy with the fact that you go to a restaurant for the first time and you donâ¬"t know what to expect...well this is the place to be

Strangley for a resturant that seems to give a mediterranean vibe there wasn't much about the menu that was actually mediterranean - apart from some olives.

But not to be put off the fish and chips (english) and the moules and frites (belgian) were pretty good - especially the beer batter which for once actually tasted of beer.

They also cater for parties so might be worth checking if there is a group there on the night you are planning to go - especially if you are after a quiet dinner. The booth seating is great.

This is a lovely, relaxed and modern looking South Indian restaurant serving vegetarian food. The quality and taste of the food are great - and you can get dosa, poori and battura bread, which you can't find in regular Indian food places. The prices are good too - Â£4 for a curry, such as daal or chana massala. The garlic rice is also a favourite of mine. The staff are friendly and don't buzz around you, so there is a nice relaxed atmosphere. Generally this place does not attract the loud beer-guzzling Hammersmith Friday-night crowd, which is a plus (maybe that's because it's a veggie restaurant?) and they do good value for money lunch menu options. An impromptu dinner with friends one evening found us at Lola & Simon, near Hammersmith. The restaurant is owned by a couple - he is Argentinean, she is a New Zealander, and the food reflects this, drawing on both countries for inspiration and flavour. The name Lola & Simon apparently comes from the owner's dogs back in Buenos Aires.

I liked the look and feel of the restaurant, but wasn't so keen on the acoustics. Or maybe the table of 6 sitting near us in the mezzanine dining area were just particularly loud and annoying. And service was a little hit and miss, our main waiter didn't seem to be very experienced, but he meant well.

The food was pretty good for the most part. We started with the Argentinean Empanadas; and some New Zealand green-lipped mussels. Next was the Roasted rump of dukkha crusted New Zealand lamb with grilled eggplant and sweet potato mash; the Milanesa Napolitana with crispy potatoes; and the Seared then roasted cod fillet with crispy potatoes and mustard caper lentil dressing. For dessert we shared a couple of Rich chocolate brownies with chocolate sauce and vanilla ice cream.

The main courses were the highlight of the meal - I really enjoyed the flavours in the lamb dish and the cod looked great and was cooked just right.

The friendly Brazilian manager had a chat with us at the end of our meal and we learnt that he was looking after the place for a couple of weeks while the owners were on holiday. Apparently he usually works at the newish Princess Victoria (gastro)pub in Shepherds Bush which is getting rave reviews.

If ever in the area and in need of a quick meal, this is first choice. Be it that the food is loaded with things that are very bad for you, the laksa and char kway teow actually taste somewhat close to authentic even though it only took them 3 minutes to make it. My husband used to be a vegetarian so we ate here a lot when courting, and have continued to do so even though he has slipped back into meat-eating.

The experience starts with lovely bread and flavoured oil, and continues with an ever-changing menu of delights. Accompanied by a range of wines (and I always think that you don't get a hangover with organic wine, so we always have plenty!)

In the autumn of each year they do a Mushroom Feast which has six or seven courses all containing mushrooms - even the dessert. It is a culinary masterpiece and a great experience.

We also have the Gate cookbook which has provided us with some interesting dinner party options.My husband used to be a vegetarian so we ate here a lot when courting, and have continued to do so even though he has slipped back into meat-eating.

The experience starts with lovely bread and flavoured oil, and continues with an ever-changing menu of delights. Accompanied by a range of wines (and I always think that you don't get a hangover with organic wine, so we always have plenty!)

I was at this tiny resturant on Saturday night with a group of friends. Although the restaurant is a little hard to spot, as it has no signs or boards out front, I was surprised how accomodating the restaurant was and how well nice the staff were.

The food was great and i am sorry if the other guests found us noisy, but hey its not everyday that 14 old uni friends meet and all of us throughly enjoyed our evening.

All in all I think the resturant has won itself 14 repeat customers...

They certainly put a lot of food on your plate, you just can't finish it all. The waiters seem to be part of the family and it certainly has that feel. The food arrived very quickly and waiters were not too intrusive and of good nature. The price was rather steep but it has to be expected from that area and would recommend it to any one who wants not just a typical good curry but a realy culinary Indian experience. The deserts were wonderful, Iâ¬"ve never had such delicious sweet dishes in an Indian style restaurant in my entire life.
