This is a gastro pub which is located in a beautiful setting, and serves the most wonderful food. I had avoided it for years, it previously had a bad reputation in the area for atrocious service, however i am very pleased to say that is now no longer true. The staff were friendly, approachable and couldn't do enough to make us happy. There is a relatively large choice of meals and several specials on the boards so everyone will be happy with the choices available. The food is delicious and although not cheap, well worth it. There's no doubt that this is the best sports bar in London. Contrary to some of the other reviews, I don't think this place is particularly dirty, and in fact the mezzanine area is quite cozy. While it will get crowded during a big match, and it's not a gastropub, somewhere I'd take a date, or just a quiet local, when it comes to sport, there is no better place to watch a game than F3K.There's no doubt that this is the best sports bar in London. Last night a friend and I went along to Wednesday's 'acoustic night' held in The Regal Room on the top floor of this attractive Hammersmith pub. I didn't get much of a look at the busy ground floor bar as we passed through it, but The Regal Room upstairs was a cosy function space with dark wood panelling, groovy flock wallpaper, candles, and chairs and tables which appear to be reservable in advance - though we're not sure how one goes about doing this. Getting there shortly after the doors opened at 7.30pm, and intending to eat before the music started circa. 9pm, we both ordered beef burger and chips with salad - delicious, although it was so dark in there we could barely see what we were eating, and it took a wee while to arrive. Drinks were reasonably priced too.

The music started earlier than expected, with an extra act squeezed in before the usual start time. Four other performers followed, each playing three songs each before an interval. After the interval, the idea is that they all come back on again and play three more songs. This proved a brilliant way of doing things, as it allows those with a long journey home or an early start the next day to enjoy all the acts before slipping off prior to the second half. All too often I've been to these kinds of music nights and, as a commuter, have had to leave without ever catching sight or sound of the lead act.

I was glad I got to see all the acts, too, because on the whole they were very, very good. In view of this it's amazing that entry is free. Yes, FREE! Presumably the attraction for these well-above-average acts to perform in front of a non-paying audience must be because it's filmed live as a webcast and beamed around the planet. We especially enjoyed Lizzie Dean and her amazing band. With a huge voice and a disarmingly modest manner, she sounded like a cross between Lisa Stansfield, Annie Lennox, and The Brand New Heavies - not at all what one expects at a free gig.

I see from their website that other music and comedy events are held throughout the week at this venue, and I'll definitely be going again. The only fly in the ointment was an inconsiderate couple that we had graciously allowed to share our table (all big bones, big hair, big beers, sappy smiles and smooching lips) who didn't pause to wonder if they might be both crowding our dinners and blocking our view. I have a certain fondness for pubs along the Thames, especially those with a beer garden - and the Crabtree has an absolute cracker. It's huge.

I've been here a few times and when the weather is right, I imagine it's pretty hard to beat - especially with a big group.

I understand on Sunday's they do roasts (winter) and bbq's (summer) - although I haven't tried either. Both occasions I have eaten there I have been somewhat disappointed, but I wasn't really going for the food.

A decent enough selection of tap beers, service was pretty/very slow last time I was there - granted it was quite busy.

It's a bit of a hike from the tube station.

Conclusion: All in all a great place to spend an afternoon in the sun* with a frosty cold beer or three.

This place right now is the best place in Shepherds Bush where you can go and have a good pint of real ale with about 5 guest ales available at all times plus the good old regular like abbot, directors, pedigree and courage best! The staff is friendly, and the food is not bad at all with brilliant steaks! Go on Tuesday from 3 till 10 and get any steak and a pint for only Â£6.09! The space is looking really dated these days but the Riverside Cafe Bar is still serving up some good grub - come here before the double bill at the cinema for good burgers, salads, and resonably priced cocktails and try to get a seat outside overlooking the Thames!

Top tip: the Sunday brunch is especially good - lots of options from a posh fry-up to lovely porridge. Yum! this is possibly the worst pub meal i have had. the bar itself is very cosy and nice. however, the staff act as if you are disturbing them by wanting a drink (not that they even knew how to make a Bloody Mary), they then served my pie with none of the veggies or anything, i then complained and was bought out a bowl of very unappetising mashed potato (still no beans etc). my friend was over charged (refunded), but her 'green salad' consisted or a couple of lettuce leaves, one tomato, and one gerkin.

Dont go here if you want a nice pub meal. I was reminded of my old favourite The Curtain's up when I walked past the other day.

I used to live in West Kensington and this was my local. The area is a little baron of decent pubs (forgive the pun as the area is near Baron's court...ahem). Anyhow, this pub is a friendly local that all the nearbye residents rely on.

However, the curtains up is more than just a pub, it has a most welcome twist, that of the local theatre perched above its hallowed halls. The perfect place for a bit of local entertainment.I was reminded of my old favourite The Curtain's up when I walked past the other day.

The Queens Head is a traditional pub located in Brook Green, in between Hammersmith & Shepherds Bush. It is popular for office lunches and for meals in the evening. The main draw card here is its large leafy beer garden.

We went there for a couple of drinks and an early meal one night before the theatre. It was a (rare) beautiful warm summer evening, so the Queens Head was the perfect choice. When we arrived there was still plenty of seating outside (but this filled up quick), so we grabbed a table and relaxed with a cool beverage, chatting about the work day and perusing the sizeable menu.

The food was ok. I ate fish & chips - nothing to rave about, but fine and not too expensive. Desserts sounded ok, but we didn't have time to order any as we had to head to the theatre.

The atmosphere here is the thing that would get me back again, not the food.

I must admit, I've only ever used Vesbar of an evening for pre concert drinks, as I did this Friday because it's a stones throw from the Shepherds Bush empire and it beats either of the tacky Walkabouts or O'Neils pub that is across the road. It is by far one of the nicer options in the area.

This bars claim to fame is that it specialises in the Cuban, rum based drink mojitos, with a few alternative versions of the cocktail using the likes of mango, red bull or their own Vesbar recipe!
They also have a good selection of wine, beers and bar food menu, all at a reasonable price.
You can sit at tables or on sofas, in this mid sized venue. Staff are laid back and helpful.

The vibe is chilled, young and trendy. There is live music at the weekends and DJ's on most nights. I'm getting increasingly fond of the Black Lion. It's a large, sprawling Pub just set back from the river so it doesn't get as crowded as the nearby Old Ship. They seem to have a lot going on with film nights, quizes and live music - not all at the same time.

It's a great place to have a break on the two or three bridges walk.

The menu looks good and from what I have seen, lives up to the billing although I haven't eaten here yet - maybe next Sunday!I'm getting increasingly fond of the Black Lion. I've popped in and out of the Dove for years now and it never disappoints. It seems to be able to maintain it's position as a neighbourhood/local pub despite it's great location on the river and the fact that it is a "destination" pub.

For those of a patriotic leaning, "Rule Britannia" was composed there in the 18th Century.

My useful tip: Turn right immediately after entering the main door, open the door facing you and you will find yourself in the tiny snug bar. If there are more than four or five people in there, you won't be able to get in!I've popped in and out of the Dove for years now and it never disappoints. I haven't been this neck of the woods for a few years, and not been here since it re-opened, but a few years back when I worked around the corner this was a regular haunt. Really decent food and modest prices. I'm sure it is even nicer now people can't smoke as that used to be a problem. Only downside is that it's a bit of a trek if you aren't a local. Now I might be a bit biased here, as this place has been like a footballing spiritual home for me for many a year now, but this place is a quality London boozer. With simple dÃ©cor and a good selection of beers, lagers and wine this is a great pub for a pre/post Loftus Rd drink or even to meet up with friends in the Shepherds Bush area. With simple but well cooked food on offer it is also a good place to grab some pub grub, in particular I would recommend the Bushranger or Steak breakfast, whether you are preparing for a big night out or still recovering from one, it certainly hits the target
