I love this place!

As one of the many bustling and vibrant Vietnamese establishments in Shoreditch, Tay Do has to compete for it's share of customers.

It's a large and fast moving place, with a selection of small tables seating 6, and then one very long table that seats at least 30 people.

At busy times it's likely that you'll be asked to share a table with strangers, but combined with the "Bring Your Own" policy it just adds to the atmosphere of the place.

When you arrive, you'll be seated quickly by the attentive and businesslike staff, and asked for a drinks order.

Then you can start to check out the delicious menu, full of meat and veggie options, ranging from familiar Chow Mein and Rice dishes, to Frog's Legs and soups.

I highly recommend the lip smackingly good Pho Bo (rare beef soup) which comes in a huge bowl, full of tasty broth and noodles. This comes accompanied by a plate of raw chillies and beansprouts, to add into your dish.

Also worth trying are the many fish dishes, and the delectable "Summer Rolls", chilled parcels of prawn, floss noodles, and cucumber. Delicious!

Nip next door for some booze, and bear in mind that if there are lots of you, your orders might arrive fairly randomly, and just enjoy the low price and lovely grub!I love this place!

Alot of people rave about this place, but I just can't see it myself.

It's situated smack bang in the middle of the flower market so can get notoriously busy on Sundays although not 6 foot deep as it does on a Friday or Saturday.

The usual selection of beers, ales, wines and spirits so again, you'll find the selection pretty standard.

However, it does do a mean Sunday roast, and if I were to go out on a limb, the best Sunday roast I've had in London - I knew there was a reason I came here! Meat aplenty, gravy just right and a portion of root veg, mash that would be fit for a king. It is, unfortunately, pricey (Â£13~)

Catch 22 is a bar in London's trendy Shoreditch. Its decor is dark but the atmosphere is a spectrum of glee, with it's excited patrons dancing and drinking to great music in this modest sized venue. Upstairs there's a small stage; bands play here on certain nights (itâ¬"s home to the legendary new bands showcase â¬ÜHeadphones Offâ¬"). At the weekend, this place is mainly used for dancing. Downstairs is busier but also had a dance floor at the back. Service is good, if a little slow when its busy, but it's definitely a good place to spend a night. This is one of the better pizza takeaways ,
(esp good after a night out),
we actually like this better than pizza hut.
Not cheap though but realy tasty.....
Always on time and always hot and tasty.

Been he on more the one occasion and it's a fantastic show, Lee Hurst himself does sketches in between introducing other guest comedians. I cannot rate the show highly enough. Around Â£10 entry and it's not rare to be given a free return ticket for a forthcoming show. The venue has two bars and drinks are not as extortionate as at other comedy shows. There are several good viewing areas and I think jokes should be audible from all parts of the theatre.

It's located close to Bethnal Green tube station and you there are several restaurants and fast food places if you want to keep the hunger away before or after.

Now I am not advocating strip clubs at all, although I am sure the ladies that work here are just top nocth.

What I am giving 5 stars to is the club nights they have post 11.30pm on a Friday and Saturday night.

I was dubious too, but with the Friday night 60's theme and Staurday night Rock-a-billy theme, it is a fairly initimate venue (no pun intended) with a great crowd.

I really want to try more of the non-Song Que Vietnamese cafes along Kingsland Road but this restaurant draws me back time and again. Choose the right dishes and you'll get a selection of some of the most cheap, fresh, delicious food to be found anywhere in London. Avoid the deep-fried starters and chinese-y stuff and order some rice paper rolls, a Vietnamese pancake, a bowl of decent Pho and top it off with a Cendol for dessert. Being from Barcelona I love my food and when I want Spanish food from home I only ever go to Laxeiro. The Galician family who run it are always very friendly and welcoming and the food never fails to impress. Good home cooked food in a relaxed busy atmosphere and just round the corner from where I live. Like a moth drawn to a flame, I am genetically pre-programmed to try anywhere serving obscure ethnic cuisine with a silly name, even if said food turns out to be quite inedible and there's a very good reason for its obscurity. I have no idea how to pronounce Ocakbasi, but as far as I can tell from a quick Google it just means 'Turkish grill'. So, essentially a kebab shop then? It's amazing isn't it, how pretention to some sort of trendy "next big thing" can draw rave reviews of even the most mundane place from people desperate to say they were first to discover it. People like me, for example.

The decor treads a fine line between odd and very odd, with pictures of happy Turkish peasants on the wall next to a bizarre tiki-hut bar which is too small to sit at but dominates a good third of the tiny restaurant. There is also an impressive-looking wood-fired oven which looked to be in constant use over the course of our meal and yet all the bread we were served was cold and fairly bland so God knows where the fresh stuff was going.

Being just the two of us yesterday lunchtime, and attempting to get as much of an idea as possible of the skills of the kitchen, we chose a selection of hot starters (lamb livers, hummous, calamari, halloumi) and one chicken shish to see if their grilling was up to much. Livers were tasty but just on the wrong side of dry and had been cooked too long for my liking. They also arrived almost immediately so clearly had been prepared well in advance. The calamari were pretty bad too - greasy and unpleasant batter but the squid inside at least wasn't too rubbery. Halloumi was just as you'd expect - in fact we saw him opening the packet of the bog standard stuff you can get at ASDA. It was nice of course, but Halloumi is always nice isn't it?

Perhaps most disappointing though was the chicken shish kebab, which was mundanely spiced and a little on the dry side. Not exactly bad, just very boring, and again no better than anything you could get at any 2am kebab shop, never mind somewhere claiming to be a specialist grill house. The accompanying veg was equally uninspriring, although the rice was nice and buttery. Hummous was hummous - uniformly pallid and unlikely to have been made in house.

The one saving grace, I suppose, was that it was fairly inexpensive. Just over Â£20 for all that food, and the portions were nothing if not generous, so if you just want to fill a hole and aren't that bothered about quality then why not give it a go. I've just (this Monday) moved into Brick Lane to work as our office has moved from Clerkenwell. I had a recommendation that this place was good and it didn't disappoint.

If you ever had the pleasure of going to the New Piccadilly Cafe and liked it, you'll love this place. While I was in there an American tourist walked out saying:

"I have only 4 must visit places in London while I'm here. This was 1 of them"

Not much to add to the other reviews here only that the service was really friendly. Lots of banter and chatter about 'Mum's home made chicken pie and her jam pudding' and a decent cuppa.

4 of us went and ordered Lasagne, Chicken Pie, Steak Pie and chips. With a side of cheesy broccoli. As the food landed, silence ensued. We hunkered down for a good feed and everyone loved it.

See you next week. We've found somewhere to replace our previous haunt.

What are these things doing here?
A good run of earth friendly stuff is at odds with these inclusions and the dubious selection of ancient veg doesn't help to enamour one to the place.
But it is around the corner and it is trying its best. Actually I thought City View Hotel was a rather affordable and good choice for my stay in November in London just until today when I checked by savings account. I turns out that just two days after salary three transactions were made that Im confident I know nothing about. Thinking back, this hotel required full information on my card details to fullfill the booking and I am totally sure that the employees of this hotel took advantage of this for their own bookings of flight tickets over X-mas. Totally unacceptable. My 4 cheap hotel nights ended up not being so cheap after all. Using 675 pound extra I could have upgraded to a luxury hotel instead. How fooled I was!
Please boycott this hotel!

What a fantastic restaurant near Brick Lane, on Bethnal Green Road,I-Pod docking station, Mocktail Bar, and food with no artificial colouring and fish from sustainable sources, this is the restaurant which took us by storm. The starters are excellent and so is the main course. The dessert of Maida Brownie sizzler, was to die for. Not to forget the very filling Oreo cookie milkshake. Prices are reasonable and service is very friendly.Also the small menu of Indo Chinese food ( fusion of indian and chinese ) was something new, especially the Lollipop Chicken, and Crispy Chicken Tai Pai. All in all excellent value for money. I have lived in London for most of my life but i have never come cross someone as rude and bad mannered as one of the female workers at Gardiners.
As this area has limited places to go for lunch. A Deli like this should do well, it seems insane to be let down by such an individual who works there!?
Today was the last straw. After being shouted at, then my Sandwich being thrown at me, i will be contacting the Manager. I suggest if you have been treated the same you should do like wise. This small romantic bistro was the perfect place for my catch up with old friends. Serving fondue, raclette, pastas and French cuisine we spent more than a couple of hours enjoying this experience and not much on the pocket.
The atmosphere is beautifully intimate and the staff were very warm and relaxed.
Walluc Bistrot is BYOW (and donâ¬"t forget as there is/was no wine sold there!)
They also sold traditional Italian cooking goodies like porcini pastes, pastas and truffle oils etc

The atmosphere is beautifully intimate and the staff were very warm and relaxed.
Walluc Bistrot is BYOW (and donâ¬"t forget as there is/was no wine sold there!)
They also sold traditional Italian cooking goodies like porcini pastes, pastas and truffle oils etc
They also have a lunch special I would love to try if I am in the area......from 11 - 2pm any pasta and drink for Â£5.80 now thatâ¬"s a steal!
