Wont be going here after speaking to rude staff on the telephone.

They seemed to think I was crazy for trying to book a table in a 'cafe', even though there is a restaurant just down the road in Blackheath of the same name and we thought this was another branch.

Tried this for cake and tea on a sunny sunday afo. The walnut and coffee cake was great, pot of tea not bad (although no hot water to top it up) and a nice atmosphere. Maggies lured us in mainly because Lewisham Tesco doesn't have a cafe. We couldn't get in it was so packed at first so they sat us outside under an awning while the rain poured. Tea and juice quickly arrived and then we were seated inside. You can have all day breakfast here all day, and it costs Â£4.50 for a choice of however many things you want from 20 items. Tea and toast are constantly replenished. When the food comes there is no guarantee it will be exactly what you've asked for, but there will be lots of it and Maggie flits around working her Irish charm so it doesn't really matter. I have been going to this pub for years, and I still return several times a year. Especially in the summer, when you have been at work all day, there really is nothing like meeting freinds here, sitting on the wall outside, looking across the Thames, enjoying a cold Gin & Tonic, or a delicious real ale.

The drinks are reasonably priced, and they have a great range of real ales, including some often hard to find in London. The food offering is pretty standard pub fare but is of good quality (their club sandwich is pretty darn tasty).

This isn't a pretensious riverside pub, it has a great mix of locals and tourists that make for an almost unique atmosphere. The view of the Thames is stunning, looking across to Canary Wharf and The O2 (the venue previously known as the Millenium Dome)and is an especially good place to watch the sun go down.

In the winter, sit in front of the fire or upstairs in the big bay window and watch he grey skys across the river.

It is a little out of the way, but a leisurely stroll along the river from Greenwich will bring you here in about 15 minutes.

My only gripe is that if you sit outside you are given plastic glasses - but I suspect this is a dictat from the local authority. This is typical of the Cafe Rouge chain - if you like any of the others there will be no great suprises here!

Attached to a hotel, this restaurant is right in the centre of Greenwich - a five minute (leisurely)walk to the river for a stroll along the Thames.

This is usually very busy, but with a fast turnover reservations are not normally required except during the busiest times. Even then, a drink at the bar will normally pass the time until a table comes free. Limited seating outside provides good people watching opportunities on a summer evening, although it is quite a main road.

Service is polite and efficient, but is occasionally a bit slow - again during the busiest times mainly.

The food is French in style - some dishes more authentic than others. They range from a full three course meal to a fantastic brunch.

First of all, I didn't have anything to eat here, so I'll strictly be focusing on the drinks and surroundings.

Prices were ok, can't complain too much. Bar wasn't wonderfully stacked, but had all the regulars.

Surroundings were rather so-so. There are a few selling points, namely the fact that it used to be the favoured place of liberal thinkers/politicians, and the fact that it is on the waterfront. I also hear that it serves great whitebait, but I don't know about that.

So, then's the decor. We sat in the back somewhere, and I felt as though we were still stuck in the middle ages. There was something rather musty and damp about the look (though thankfully, no smell). It was dark, and in other places seemed to need renovation. Not at all to my liking.

The crowd here also seems to be a mixture, a few tourists, locals and the odd city group, meshed in with a sprinkling of barely-18s. It makes for interesting observation, but I think reflects the fact that there is no main crowd being drawn here. It doesn't help that this is off the main footpath, and wetherspoons in town is far closer.

Michael's home cooked Ugandan meals are a delicious reminder of Central Africa. Located a few steps from Deptford High Street, it's a great place to step back into Africa and enjoy some katago, matoke and nyama choma. The decor is nothing special but the food more than makes up for it. And if you're in a rush, call ahead, Michael makes everything from scratch so be prepared to have a few beers while you wait. Michael's home cooked Ugandan meals are a delicious reminder of Central Africa. Great spot, right near the ferry, the DLR and plently of parking if you don't mind paying a small fee for the underground carpark. However, this pub is over-run with chavs on the pull (i.e. left the burberry behind but gelled up the hair in the Astra outside). This leads to some quite extreme drunkeness - although this is fine in principle as I am often in that state myself, when boys from 'east greenwich' (woolwich) and basingstoke get extremely drunk they tend to fight - I saw three dust ups on the Friday evening I was there, great if that's your scene. The bar staff are really quite rude and it takes forever to get served, the drinks are quite expensive too. 4 of us had a lovely Lunch here, the O2 is nice just to visit and wander around the main concourse, lots of bars and restaurants, we've been a few times for gigs/events and both times have eaten at Las Iguanas. They do a great deal on Cocktails at lunchtimes and a couple of Long Island Iced Teas (recommended) and I was starving...
Try the XimXim, kind of a curry/Satay feel to it, but lots of exteas for a hungry person and it was wonderful. (supposed to be Peles favourite and I can see why) My friends food was just as good, dont have starters, the mains are huge. The drinks are not too expensive and the staff were really great, friendly and attentive. The music was good too. I went to the Rivington recently with my mum and sister when they came up to visit. I'd walked past so many times and thought it looked nice inside, and seeing as the parents were paying I thought I'd give it a go!

The food is slightly more expensive than most other places in Greenwich, you're looking at Â£20 for a main course, but it's definitely worth it. The food was really well prepared, well presented and just the right amount in terms of quantity.

There was a good, relaxed atmosphere in the place, although you tend to expect that on a Friday night. The waiter was a good laugh and very friendly, although possibly left us a little too long before coming over, but I'm being picky there.

All in all, definitely recommended. ... then definitely check out Pistachios. This gay-friendly cafe is located near the Cutty Sark (or what's sadly left of it!) and has a lovely courtyard out back to enjoy what's left of summer. Vietnam do a Eat As Much As You Like menu from Monday to Thursday, I think it is about Â£13 then plus drinks. I LOVE this restaurant!! Have been here a couple of times and the food & services has never been a disappointment. There is a great choice of food on the menu - I would recommend the Chicken Burrito!! They also have a great cocktail / shot menu well worth going to for a special occasion.I LOVE this restaurant!!
