Strangley for a resturant that seems to give a mediterranean vibe there wasn't much about the menu that was actually mediterranean - apart from some olives.

But not to be put off the fish and chips (english) and the moules and frites (belgian) were pretty good - especially the beer batter which for once actually tasted of beer.

They also cater for parties so might be worth checking if there is a group there on the night you are planning to go - especially if you are after a quiet dinner. The booth seating is great.

This is a gastro pub which is located in a beautiful setting, and serves the most wonderful food. I had avoided it for years, it previously had a bad reputation in the area for atrocious service, however i am very pleased to say that is now no longer true. The staff were friendly, approachable and couldn't do enough to make us happy. There is a relatively large choice of meals and several specials on the boards so everyone will be happy with the choices available. The food is delicious and although not cheap, well worth it. Okay, there's something really, really strange about this deli.

Situated in a pleasant residential area near Hammersmith, I worked close to Buchanan's earlier in 2008. The food is nice through pricey. Combining a deli store with a small cafe, it's popular with people looking for an above-average takeaway lunch in an area which doesn't have a huge amount of choice unless one walks over to the centre of Hammersmith. I tended to opt for a salad box with a sort of Italian folded pizza thing, which I asked to be heated up. This set me back about Â£5.50, but was very filling. The coffee's good too.

The main problem here seems to be that the staff tend to make the customers feel incredibly uncomfortable. Personally I always had to steel myself to go in. As someone who was new to the place, I needed some help with what things were, whether they were served hot or cold, what sizes were available, and so on: certainly it wasn't all labelled up in such a way that made these things obvious. The staff often seemed both grumpy and reluctant to help. Occasionally the person serving me spoke very little English, so was both unable to understand my question (e.g. "Can this be heated up?") or answer it. On another occasion when I was selecting what I'd like in my salad box, I had to be most insistent about what I wanted (nothing too vinegary) as the girl serving me that day seemed to have other ideas. Seriously, we were practically shouting at each other! All this made me feel stupid and gauche when in fact all I was trying to do was order something I'd enjoy for lunch.

This po-faced grumpiness seemed to infect the customers too. I came through the door one cold windy day and, being a well-mannered type, was just turning to close it behind me when a man sat at a table yelled at me to close the door. Not nice. Not necessary.

I know my colleagues tended to avoid Buchanan's for much the same reasons, so these aren't isolated incidents it seems. I persisted with the place at first simply because I love my food and don't mind paying for it, but later gave up and went to M&S instead. Sad.

What John and Perry don't know about meat is probably not worth knowing but if they don't they are open minded enough to learn. A brilliant solid service is provided by this great shop which keeps a great relationship with it's producers and also it's customer's. Willing to prepare the meat how you want it, you want your fore rub hung for a few more days, no problem. Take cash or cheque as they don't accept credit cards - which goes to show how many locals use this place as they keep coming back. we had a fantastic table meal here recently, the place was full which is always a good sign! The food was quite simply fantastic and beautifully presented. Slick modern interior with some wonderful artwork and lights, definitely one for impressing your guests; bill (with ample food and wine) was Â£55 per head. Slightly hard to find veggie restaurant on Goldhawk Rd, strangely with cow heads adorning the outside.

I've been eating here for 10 years, and the quality is just as good as the first time. The food is imaginitive and perfectly cooked, bringing some real interest to veggie food which even the confirmed carnivores I have dragged there have loved.
The atmosphere is warm and friendly, and the downstairs room is perfect for a group of friends to eat and laugh together. And the crayons on the table keep even the most bored husband occupied.

BYO alcohol helps keep the price down, and if you run out there is an off license just over the road.

The portions at first look appear small, but you will find them all very suprisingly filling - I blame the large plates!

The Thatched House is a large pub in a mainly residential area. On a cold Saturday night it was surprisingly quiet, especially after leaving the packed Anglesea Arms. This is a gastro pub with a nice extensive menu inspired by mediterannean spirit. A good middle-weight restaurant in a casual environment. Can be a bit crowded and consequently noisy. Upstairs, a large room with large screen and dedicated bar for football nights. I must admit, I've only ever used Vesbar of an evening for pre concert drinks, as I did this Friday because it's a stones throw from the Shepherds Bush empire and it beats either of the tacky Walkabouts or O'Neils pub that is across the road. It is by far one of the nicer options in the area.

This bars claim to fame is that it specialises in the Cuban, rum based drink mojitos, with a few alternative versions of the cocktail using the likes of mango, red bull or their own Vesbar recipe!
They also have a good selection of wine, beers and bar food menu, all at a reasonable price.
You can sit at tables or on sofas, in this mid sized venue. Staff are laid back and helpful.

The vibe is chilled, young and trendy. There is live music at the weekends and DJ's on most nights. A sunny Sunday found us driving through the back streets of Hammersmith, and when we happened upon The Brackenbury its inviting facade tempted us to stop off for some lunch. This small restaurant/café has a shaded terrace at the front and an attractively decorated interior which looks like someone's living room (in a good way). Service was welcoming and relaxed.

We were seated at a table on the terrace which was the perfect place to sit and enjoy the summery day. Although a little warm for it, we both ordered the Roast rib of beef, with roast potatoes & Yorkshire pudding. The meat was delicious and the potatoes were nice and crispy. A small glass of wine accompanied our meal perfectly.

Casually sitting next to the award winning restaurant Chez Kristof is the Chez Kristof Deli....an oasis in a city of chain cafes. It is just a few minutes walk from Hammersmith Broadway, but a million miles away from the other food establishments in the area.

The deli is only a small place, with shelves stacked high with all sorts of gourmet delights, fresh bread stacked in the window, and tasty treats in the display cabinet at the rear. Along the middle of the deli is a long communal table, plus there is additional seating out the front.

It is a great place for breakfast, brunch or lunch. It is usually pretty busy and service can be slow&.but as long as you bring along the paper (or read the ones provided) you can amuse yourself while you wait.

They do some hot breakfasts, and have a range of fresh made sandwiches and frittatas available later in the morning. I can also recommend the Croque Madame's and Crepes (especially the lemon & sugar one!).
