You had better find this pub soonish before the rest of the world gets there! We visited on the advice of Fay Maschler (Evening Standard 16th July) and can only say how delighted we were to find such a welcoming and unpretentious local. The menu is stuffed with unusual dishes all from a strong British home and laced with a touch of the Irish, try the Coddle Pie with Colcannon or Arbroath Smokies with soft duck egg on top. Delicious. There is a feel of country fayre about the pub and you will be just at home with the real ales (Blacksheep/Hooky/Addlestones Cider) as one might with the concise but excellently chosen wine list, of which no less than 12 are available by the glass. The atmosphere is really pleasant and thankfully calm for a London pub, staff are attentive and seem to take a great interest you. Can get busy so advisable to book. The Colton Arms hasn't changed in decades - and most likely won't for the next couple. The washrooms are clean with highly-polished brightwork; the secret garden is small-but-perfectly-formed and is a powerful sun-trap at appropriate times.
No juke box, games machine, pool table or background music.
Very well-kept draught beer however with London Pride as the house ale. Wine by the glass is reasonably priced.
The unadvertised sandwiches are excellent, as is the house recipe for Bloody Mary.
The involved management [a tenanted house] is mature, experienced and possessed of a rare sense of humour.

My first to New Zealand a few years ago and there was this super fabulous pizza company, big on flavour, friendliness (but then thats the new zealand way, laid baaaaaaaaaaaaack) and toppings.

Hell's Pizza has made its way to our side of the equator and opened in Fulham London. So no need to contribute to the fires of hell via our carbon impacting flights, Hell's Pizza deliver straight to you city based door. Yum.

Staff here are equally as friendly as their new zealand counterparts - must be the company mantra! Flavours are unsual to say the least, non of your 'usual' margherita , pineapple and ham Pizza Hut run of the mill concoctions *yawn*. Firey sauce, some seriously santilising lip-smacking original toppings make a gal want to order more!

The menu is 'cute' too. Named after the 'Seven deadly sins' pizzas go from envy, to lust, to vanity - and all with their own topings, sauces etc. Which is shame that there's only seven 'deadly' sins *sigh*. Thankfully when your'e not sinning you can turn to the dessert menu (named ambrosia) and nectar for drinks.

planning on sinning with a take away, the super sized pizza boxes have a cut-out of a coffin 'for your remains' - oh as if, not with pizza this good! The environmentally conscious amongst you will like the anti-litter message on your pizza box that advises you to 'dispose of the evidence.'Yum.

vegetarian, or vegan? hell have you covered one of their best is 'Sinister'; avocado's , refried beans, salsa, tomatoes, jalapo's and oh so much more. You can also 'build your own' from huge range of toppings, and did i mention firery sauces! (there are less hot options too!)

so get a little hell fire in your belly. Delicious and fun too!

Good service, great squid, perfect tortilla and two large beers for Â£9pp. Fantastic, given the location. Chunks of meal cooked over an open charcoal fire, soft yet flakey breads, and some really good chilli sause, the Best Mangal was worth the 20 minutes on the District Line to visit it. I had a bog standard shish, and it was tops.

Nice to be able to sit in too, rather than the standard collect and run kebab places. What should have been an enjoyable meal was spoiled by charges that made our eyes bulge. The good was good but quite modest portions.

My memory of the event is fogged by alcohol, I expect, but I recall dinner for 12 people being Â£990. The set banquet was about Â£35 but the charges came with 10 bottles of Â£28 wine, cocktails and coffees that were Â£10 a piece!

Quite a different atmosphere and decoration than what I've found in London so far. I really enjoyed the calm, which could be due to the fact we were Tuesday, though.

Even if my two friends barely could finish their plates (but girls, you know ...), I would advise you to go there for the taste, not for the amount. My Koh Samui (main based on sea food) was very good, but by the end of it I had enough room to finish the Imperial Fish of my neighbour. If you're into the salty-sweety mixes, I highly recommend that last one.

Local Hero Deli has huge potential; charming atmosphere that elevates it from the dreary-ness of the chains and an ace up its sleeve of a pretty little sun-trap of a garden at the back with un-cramped seating.

On a further cheery note the coffee was delicious.

On the downside: the very appealing quiches were let down by the rubberising effect of being heated in a microwave (I assume), the slight nonchalance of the staff (who, for example, let it be known that splitting 2 quiches between two plates for the sake of variety was something they would rather we did) and the rather lame/ unloved salad that came with it. Very difficult to find just past a new development of this harbour, Jury's Inn is a good, bargain hotel that, though part of a cheap hotel chain like travelodge, holiday inn etc, feels a bit more up-market. Very comfortable rooms with good sized bathrooms, big windows with panoramic views of london and a whole floor designed by laura ashley make this hotel a good place to spend the night in london on a budget. The night I went this new hotel had no hot water, instead of putting me off this brought out the friendly and helpful nature of the staff who even offered to transfer us to the heathrow branch of the hotel if we couldnt do without hot water. Moreover they were patient with us as we ordered 3 different takeaways from the surrounding area to our room. I ummed and erred about whether this was a 3 or 4 star experience.

Certainly Napule is a charming Italian Pizza place. It is small and cosy with fun decor that makes you feel like you are on the back streets of Italy - complete with fake window ledges scattered along the walls.

They have a novel way of serving pizzas if you order more than one per table. Instead of getting a single round pizza your orders are merged together in an uber-pizza in a rectangle shape. Suddlenly 2 or 3 pizzas look huge as they come on a giant wooden platter that sits in the middle of the table. And 4 pizzas well it starts to look like a monster!

No question that this is a tasty and fun place with a relaxing and non chain atmosphere (a little deceiving as their card tells me they have 6 places in London as part of the Made in Italy Group).

I would have given it 4 if the staff were just a little friendlier...however, I suppose it is being an authentic Italian ;-)

I'm not really a fan of this place.

I'd agree with Bundahsi's review from the few of times I've been in there. It's not bad as a meeting/starting point EARLY in the evening, I guess.
You can't even blame the local Chelsea football fans for spoiling this place as its always like it. It's overly dark, the staff are not very helpful and struggle to crack a smile unless they are hitting on you.

Client wise: You get sleazy, overly wealthy city boys being too loud and heavy handed or gold digging girls trying to bag themselevs a hedge-fund lad or girls with daddies credit card after a hard days of shopping "rah rah rah-ing" in your ear, oblivious to how loud they are.

I don't see why or how this place continues to be so busy generally, the drinks are over priced, it gets too busy and the vibe is non-existent.

A pleasant little Italian place that has tasty food. Good value and family atmosphere on the New Kings road makes L'Antico a popular place.

I was reminded of my old favourite The Curtain's up when I walked past the other day.

I used to live in West Kensington and this was my local. The area is a little baron of decent pubs (forgive the pun as the area is near Baron's court...ahem). Anyhow, this pub is a friendly local that all the nearbye residents rely on.

However, the curtains up is more than just a pub, it has a most welcome twist, that of the local theatre perched above its hallowed halls. The perfect place for a bit of local entertainment.I was reminded of my old favourite The Curtain's up when I walked past the other day.

There is nothing extra special about the food here at all, I think what appeals to me re this little outdoors cafe is just that.

It's outdoors.

It's situated alongside the banks of the River Thames, amongst beautiful trees and gardens, at the entrance to Fulham Palace.

It's child friendly and people friendly.

The toasties here are rather nice, and their coffee isn't bad either. We had a bacon and cheese toastie on wholewheat bread.

This was quite a find!

We certainly didn't expect to find such a delectable tea room when we went gallivanting to Fulham Palace!

To get to it, you need to go in at the front gates to the palace, and then, at the entrance to the palace (an archway that leads into an inner courtyard into the palace), you take a right turn, following the path round to the right... and then when you see green lawns ahead of you, look to your left, and there is the cafe :)

It is nondescript, stylish and upmarket.

It opens up onto the palace lawn, where families come with their children, scooters and trikes... there were loads of buggies here! - and a picnic, and they settle down for the day.

You don't have to eat at the cafe to make use of the lawn and surroundings, you can just come along, bringing your own basket of edibles, which is nice I think. (No entry charge to get into this section of the palace grounds either).

They have a variety of snacks (cold and hot), like cupcakes and croissants, as well as light meals and sandwiches too.

They offer the usual hot beverages like tea, coffee, hot chocolate etc. too, as well as cold beverages.

We had a cold drink as it was a warm day, and I had a slice of chocolate cake.

Hubby had the carrot cake... which was nice, but a little disappointing. The icing was a tad runny and the cake itself, although soft, didn't have that much carrot in it, was too vanilla-like.

If you are in the area, this is definately a lovely place to come and relax.This was quite a find!
