I would not recommend Wax bar to anyone, the management are terrible and do not deserve your custom. I had booked an area 3 weeks in advance for my 21st birthday on 7th Feb 09 with the promoter, as advertised on the flyer. When I arrived on Saturday, I was extremely disappointed to find my area was not booked, and this was very embarressing for me in front of my party. The manageress was very rude and not apologetic at all, claiming no responsibility, that this was the promoter's fault, nothing to do with Wax, even though the event is held at Wax! As a customer who chose to hold her party at Wax and bring them income, this was not the response I expected.

The flyer says the event ends at 3am, but actually ended at 2am on the night. The security personnel behaved extremely over the top and unacceptably. We were ready to leave at 2am, but were waiting for one of the party to return from the ladies so we could all leave together. But the security guard kept pestering us and physically pushed my fiance and my brother who was innocently standing at the bar! The bar staff even looked shocked at this, as there was no reason for this behaviour. I did not invite my guests to my party so they could be physically pushed at the end of the night! I am extremely angry that this happened, especially with the amount of custom we brought to your bar on this night and the fact that we were doing nothing wrong, we were actually leaving! How dare this behaviour be allowed. The security guard would not reveal his name, as he probably knew what he was doing was wrong. I hope he will be dealt with suitably.

I've only been here on a Friday night and it's very similar to the Metro bar around the corner on Oxford Street. The same kind of music, the same crowd. The Roxy is a bit nicer than the metro but you end up paying for it with the more expensive drinks. I think I paid Â£7 to get in at about 11 o' clock. This pub is not far from the restaurants of Charlotte Street and although busy, was not packed on a Saturday evening. Sam Smith's prices make it a good option if you'd rather spend more of your money on good food down the street, and the bar staff were pleasant and remembered your order for the second round (quite impressive!) Upstairs was quite cosy, with window seats and a roaring (gas) fire.

It's nicely located just beyond the hectic-ness of Oxford St, and would probably make a good post xmas shopping bolthole. It will never win awards for style or quaint authenticity, but a decent option nonetheless.Just to add to what flashboy and Ben already said:

We found this pub by accident, after a hard afternoon shopping for tech on Tottenham Court Road.

At 2 on a Sunday it was quiet, with only the downstairs bars in operation. We were easily able to get a sofa in the back room for Sunday lunch.

The decor is dark wood panels, with interesting flock wallpaper in other parts of the pub - a little bit "quirky gastropub", but not jarringly so.

The drinks selection was well above average - 2 different real ales (London Pride and Greene King IPA), and a good wine list - which seems to change regularly given how out of date the board seemed to be.

The staff were extremely helpful, taking time to guide me through what was was and wasn't available from the wine list, and letting me taste any of the wines they had open bottles of.

I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the by-the-glass wines - too many pubs seem to regard them as an afterthought at best but here they were well thought through, and I ended up buying a bottle of one of them.

The roast beef arrived promptly and was absolutely superb. Not only was the roast one of the best I've had in a London pub, but it had clearly been prepared by someone who understood the importance of plating to a Sunday roast.

The beef was melting, the potatoes crisp on the outside and floury inside and the 3 different kinds of vegetables (carrots, gorgeous pan-fried French beans and cauliflower cheese) complemented each other very well.

This place was recently refurbished, and is much better for it. Much nicer decor, and they now serve many different ciders.

It can get really super busy on Friday nights with a younger crowd, but they generally play decent (indie) music. Food is also good; macaroni cheese is a particular favourite with our work crowd.

As the previous (excellent) review pointed out, there are plenty of bars in London claiming to serve cocktails, and very few that do it particularly well. On the one hand it's nice that you can nip into your local and order a Mojito and it will generally be made with fresh mint and Havana Club rum. On the other hand, we're in danger of losing the craft and excitement that early cocktail pioneers like the Match Bar generated when they first opened over ten years ago. A visit to Annex 3 at the weekend reminded me what is so great about a good drink, as the focal point of a superb evening out.

It is a surrealist masterpiece of a drinks list. Some eyebrow-raising ingredients included wasabi, avocado and rhubarb - not all in the same drink, thankfully, but still unusual enough to wonder what on earth they tasted like. Fortunately, all the examples we ordered on Friday were delicious - particularly a short drink made with ginger and cinnamon, and a martini with pomegranate seeds, the names of which unfortunately escape me. The flavours were as bright and fresh as they were unique and clearly indicated a bar staff determined to put their mark on the London cocktail map. Most impressive.

Tying our evening together impeccably was some sterling service. We hardly had to look up from an empty glass before our gaze was met with a friendly face. Perhaps this was understandable given that a 12.5% service charge was added to the bar bill (even Claridge's only adds 10%) but it was hard to complain given how well our experience was handled. The Newman Arms is best known for its pies, served both downstairs in the bar and upstairs in a small but cosy restaurant with cheery red checked tablecloths on every table. The food is honest and high quality, serving up British Pie favourites such as Steak and Kidney, Steak and Ale, Chicken and Leek Pies and Apple Pie, Rhubarb Crumble, and Bread and Butter pudding topped with a choice of Ice Cream, Cream or Custard. Service here is friendly and efficient. The menu also has regular specials and vegetarian options (today's included Lamb, Leek and Rosemary and Fisherman's) served with fresh seasonal vegetables all at very reasonable prices.

We arrived at 2pm on a Friday afternoon and had a 10 minute wait for a table for 2. We quickly ordered and I opted for the Lamb and Rosemary as the Special's had sold out. It arrived very quickly in all it's glory, a massive top crust of a pie with perfectly cooked green beans, carrots and light mash. Delicious. I had to follow this with one of their puddings, and since they had run out of Rhubarb crumble and had apple pie, with custard of course.

This place is a must for lunchtime fans of British grub!

Set on the busy Tottenham Court Road, this pub is a relaxing place to visit after shopping or work. The interior is nothing special, but is comfortable enough. The beers are well kept, although whenever I have been here (and that has been quite regularly) they have always had one beer off. So there are usually a couple of ales to choose from.

Staff are friendly and the toilets are clean. The only down side is that you have to walk the length of the bar (as if you are leaving the pub), to get to the staircase leading upstairs to the loos.

The food is very nice too, although I have only ever eaten here on an evening. As with many other Sam Smiths pubs in the capital, the Blue Posts has a lovely wooden interior and relaxed feel. If the upstairs is open, go up there. It has its own bar and comfy leatherchairs and sofas, and is dimly lit to create a cosy atmosphere.

Sam Smiths are great value for money if you're an ale drinker on a budget, so long as you go for the draft beer and not the bottles. That said the Taddy Porter is an amazingly tasty tipple.

I haven't eaten here, so can't comment on the food, but for value and atmosphere, and most importantly of course, the beer, it is well worth a visit or five. I love Bradley's. It's an old, cute Spanish bar on Hanway St, just off the chaos that is Oxford St. If that were all you needed to know to get you to go there, I would stop here, but it's not, is it?

For, if you walked down Hanway St and saw the crowd drinking outside you'd probably turn heel and walk away. It looks busy. It probably is but not as much as you think, they're the smokers, and in an indie crowd they are many.

Or if you went downstairs past the gents and down to the basement bar, the state of the carpet might offend you, or the tiny ladies toilet that may await you after a few drinks. Or that stale smell that lurks in so many pubs since the smoking ban came in...

But, what of the wonderful jukebox and the charisma of this pub? The friendly crowd, pints of Guinness and bottles of Rioja? The banter with the bar staff? This is a real pub and a perfect antidote to the chains ever present in London. It's one of my favourites and the only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is probably the smell from the gents... on occasion.I love Bradley's. A bar so pretentious, posey and glamorous it almost inhabits a twisted world of its own. The drinks may be ordinary and overpriced, the service slow and the seating arrangements uncomfortable, but people come here for one reason only - to stand there looking cool. And rich.

If you *are* cool and rich, you'll probably love it. Went down here a couple of nights ago with some of my girlfriends, the bartenders were outstanding. I had this cocktail called a Lipstick Rose with champagne, it was amazing. I eventually met this really cute guy (Amongst many)and ended up having a fantastic time. The music was a brilliant the drinks flowing (and amazing), the night was a massive success, I loved every mintue of it.Went down here a couple of nights ago with some of my girlfriends, the bartenders were outstanding. When empty this pub looks like a dusty old mans pub. However, it has good food upstairs, friendly service and the atmosphere is lively. A genuine London boozer full of the West Ends young and trendy without being in the least bit pretentious. No banging music, no TV, no sport, just people in a pub! What a superb novelty.

Itâ¬"s a Sam Smiths pub so donâ¬"t expect silly prices for fancy cocktails. Its beer, itâ¬"s under Â£2 a pint; so just drink it and enjoy the place. I will be back for more.

Located just off Oxford St, it draws the kind of crowd you like to stare at what label your handbag is..
The place itself is absolutely amazing, Â£2 million was spent on the lighting, which takes 5 people to operate, the bathrooms are beautiful and overall the place is glamourous. The drinks are ridiculously overpriced - and to be honest the music is pretty cheesy.

It calls itself a private members bar/club but if you look pretty, they will let you in. I may be playing there on Wed but this place is really nice to go, non smoking and everyone is friendly, you can turn up have a listen and a drink and get chatting to people, it is like being out of london for its unpotenousness.
