We stumbled across this pub a few weeks ago whilst shopping, and although it was an accident, we're glad we found it. Just off tottenham court road and away from all the hectic shopping, the Carpenters Arms is ideally situated for a relaxed and chilled drink. The range of beers is excellent (I can never find places that do both Peroni and Staropramen) and the bar staff are friendly.
The menu is good, although I'd go for the atmosphere and drink personally. The pub is clean and has recently been refurbished, and for the smokers there is an amazing but small roof terrace area. The Newman Arms is best known for its pies, served both downstairs in the bar and upstairs in a small but cosy restaurant with cheery red checked tablecloths on every table. The food is honest and high quality, serving up British Pie favourites such as Steak and Kidney, Steak and Ale, Chicken and Leek Pies and Apple Pie, Rhubarb Crumble, and Bread and Butter pudding topped with a choice of Ice Cream, Cream or Custard. Service here is friendly and efficient. The menu also has regular specials and vegetarian options (today's included Lamb, Leek and Rosemary and Fisherman's) served with fresh seasonal vegetables all at very reasonable prices.

We arrived at 2pm on a Friday afternoon and had a 10 minute wait for a table for 2. We quickly ordered and I opted for the Lamb and Rosemary as the Special's had sold out. It arrived very quickly in all it's glory, a massive top crust of a pie with perfectly cooked green beans, carrots and light mash. Delicious. I had to follow this with one of their puddings, and since they had run out of Rhubarb crumble and had apple pie, with custard of course.

This place is a must for lunchtime fans of British grub!

Set on the busy Tottenham Court Road, this pub is a relaxing place to visit after shopping or work. The interior is nothing special, but is comfortable enough. The beers are well kept, although whenever I have been here (and that has been quite regularly) they have always had one beer off. So there are usually a couple of ales to choose from.

Staff are friendly and the toilets are clean. The only down side is that you have to walk the length of the bar (as if you are leaving the pub), to get to the staircase leading upstairs to the loos.

The food is very nice too, although I have only ever eaten here on an evening. As with many other Sam Smiths pubs in the capital, the Blue Posts has a lovely wooden interior and relaxed feel. If the upstairs is open, go up there. It has its own bar and comfy leatherchairs and sofas, and is dimly lit to create a cosy atmosphere.

Sam Smiths are great value for money if you're an ale drinker on a budget, so long as you go for the draft beer and not the bottles. That said the Taddy Porter is an amazingly tasty tipple.

I haven't eaten here, so can't comment on the food, but for value and atmosphere, and most importantly of course, the beer, it is well worth a visit or five. I went to Wax bar a few weeks back - music was very good. Staff are friendly and the bartenders can dish up some good cocktails! I love Bradley's. It's an old, cute Spanish bar on Hanway St, just off the chaos that is Oxford St. If that were all you needed to know to get you to go there, I would stop here, but it's not, is it?

For, if you walked down Hanway St and saw the crowd drinking outside you'd probably turn heel and walk away. It looks busy. It probably is but not as much as you think, they're the smokers, and in an indie crowd they are many.

Or if you went downstairs past the gents and down to the basement bar, the state of the carpet might offend you, or the tiny ladies toilet that may await you after a few drinks. Or that stale smell that lurks in so many pubs since the smoking ban came in...

But, what of the wonderful jukebox and the charisma of this pub? The friendly crowd, pints of Guinness and bottles of Rioja? The banter with the bar staff? This is a real pub and a perfect antidote to the chains ever present in London. It's one of my favourites and the only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is probably the smell from the gents... on occasion.I love Bradley's. A bar so pretentious, posey and glamorous it almost inhabits a twisted world of its own. The drinks may be ordinary and overpriced, the service slow and the seating arrangements uncomfortable, but people come here for one reason only - to stand there looking cool. And rich.

If you *are* cool and rich, you'll probably love it. Went down here a couple of nights ago with some of my girlfriends, the bartenders were outstanding. I had this cocktail called a Lipstick Rose with champagne, it was amazing. I eventually met this really cute guy (Amongst many)and ended up having a fantastic time. An off-track gem. Just around the corner from the excellent SohoJapan, the Green Man offers a superb range of ciders and beer, all well kept, including the very dangerous Green Man Special. Drink by the half!

Thursdays sees a regular DJ lining up a fine selection of modern indie & rock. If it gets too loud inside, try the tables outside or the upstairs room (which can be hired out with a Â£300 bar bill minimum). The upstairs room is very private and sports its own jukebox and although it doesn't have a bar has some very, very comfortable seating.

The food is always good and given the price of some gastropubs definitely on the reasonably-priced side. Excellent burgers.

When empty this pub looks like a dusty old mans pub. However, it has good food upstairs, friendly service and the atmosphere is lively. A genuine London boozer full of the West Ends young and trendy without being in the least bit pretentious. No banging music, no TV, no sport, just people in a pub! What a superb novelty.

Itâ¬"s a Sam Smiths pub so donâ¬"t expect silly prices for fancy cocktails. Its beer, itâ¬"s under Â£2 a pint; so just drink it and enjoy the place. I will be back for more.

Bourne & Hollingsworth is a new basement bar in Fitzrovia, located on the corner of Rathbone Place and Percy Street. It sounded intriguing, so we popped in for a drink before heading for a meal nearby. We almost didn't see it at first, as the entrance is around the corner in Percy Street.

Go down the stairs, yank open the door and you will find yourself in a small bar, which looks a bit like your grandmothers sitting room. Loving the floral wallpaper, dim lighting, and the fact that we were able to get a cosy seat in the corner on a Friday night - perhaps it fills up later. Located just off Oxford St, it draws the kind of crowd you like to stare at what label your handbag is..
The place itself is absolutely amazing, Â£2 million was spent on the lighting, which takes 5 people to operate, the bathrooms are beautiful and overall the place is glamourous. The drinks are ridiculously overpriced - and to be honest the music is pretty cheesy.

It calls itself a private members bar/club but if you look pretty, they will let you in. I may be playing there on Wed but this place is really nice to go, non smoking and everyone is friendly, you can turn up have a listen and a drink and get chatting to people, it is like being out of london for its unpotenousness. This pub has a great atmosphere and the music is very rock/goth oriented which is a breath of fresh air from some of the rubbish the majority of pubs churn out but, at the same time, not loud enough to drown out any conversation.

Decor in line with the gothic theme and spooky loos which are quite cool!

Get there early to get a table as its always busy. Reasonably priced drinks with polite staff who'll serve you quickly.
