Agh... I'm sorry. It's just no good.
I'm very fond of fish and chips (though I do get massively carried away) and was assured that in Camden this was my best bet... I hope it isn't!

I feel a little bad saying mean things about it but it just wasn't up to much. The proprietor was charming and we had a lovely little chat about Matello Ferrett (Belgium gypsy guitarist. Proper Romany, and quite fantastic! I spied a CD. We got chattin')

When I order fish and chips I like to have all my bases covered. So The Doris and I shared scampi, rock, a large portion of chips, a battered sausage, a saveloy, curry sauce, mushy peasâ¬¦ I think that was it. I usually go for a pickle selection as well but I didnâ¬"t want to seem greedy. Now, this was all reasonably priced and they were very generous with the chips.

Unfortunately the rock didnâ¬"t taste very fresh, the scampi was a bit limp and not so hot, the saveloy and battered sausage had been kept for far too long, and the mushy peas runny and bland.

They were evidently not having a busy night and good fish and chips, like good beer, is best when itâ¬"s being churned out at a rate so maybe itâ¬"s worth a return visit early on a Friday evening or something.

But Iâ¬"m afraid for now the best I can say of it is that the staff are charming and have very good taste in music.Agh... I'm sorry. It's just no good.

This place does a roaring trade. Thats why the fish is pretty good as its nearly always just been freshly cooked. Its recently had a face-lift and been pepped up with a new vivid red sign out front. They have have a rickety staircase on the left and an upstairs dining area. Upstairs is strictly for lovers of the cheap eats and connoisseurs of greasyspoon chic even if you do feel your entering the backstreet world. I have had to talk myself out of getting off the nightbus to go to the Woody Grill on more than one occasion. Best kebabs in town, mainly because they are actually made of the parts of animals one would actually choose to eat, ie not a cow's eyelid.

I'd like to add as well that it is completely spotless: I used to live opposite (very bad for the waistline) and in the absence of a telly, my flatmate and I used to gaze out the window as the sun set over the pimps and the crackheads and would always notice that whenever they weren't serving (the Woody Grill, not the pimps) they were polishing the joint. You could eat your dinner off it.

They've opened one on Stroud Green Road which ain't nearly as good, sadly, even though they've fitted it out using the same comedy western/swedish chalet interior decoration.I have had to talk myself out of getting off the nightbus to go to the Woody Grill on more than one occasion. Burger King is somewhere that I really do try to avoid due to the fact that I have been to several of their branches and seen some really disgusting things but I thought Iâ¬"d give them another try when I walked past a few weeks ago. This store is rather dim and dingy inside, they need more windows or at least some better light. The hygiene standards in here are slightly better than in some other stores but I still saw a lot of dirt and grime and somebody doing the chips had no hat of so their hair was going everywhere. At least the food was hottish though and the price wasnâ¬"t too bad. I donâ¬"t think Iâ¬"ll be going again though, try a healthier option.

I really donâ¬"t like McDonalds but I was very hungry when out shopping one day and this place seemed to have the shortest queues so I decided to try it out. The food was up to the usual McDonalds standards i.e. not very high. The woman who served me had previously been sweeping the floor before she decided to touch my chips, yuck. But apart from that the staff were friendly and there was a lot of space to sit down because this shop has two floors. The toilets were fairly clean and so was the rest of the shop. The food filled me up but wasnâ¬"t very nice, then again itâ¬"s the same with all McDonalds they never taste very good. I recommend you eat somewhere healthier and tastier but if youâ¬"re in a rush and thereâ¬"s nowhere else to go then this is an okay takeaway.
