I have visited this restaurant a number of times and recently used their function room for our wedding party. Though small the gourmet burger kitchen is within easy reach of every bus that goes through ealing and the train station if you are coming from further a field to enjoy the food here. Of course a place like this in ealing is bound to attract families from around the area and I can see why. The food is definitely child friendly but this is not mac donalds or burger king and the more sophisticated side of gourmet burger makes it popular with parents and young professionals alike. The food is delicious and very varied with plenty to choose from on your burner. The decor is comfortable but modern and attractive and in summer the front disappears meaning, though small and crowded it is not stuffy and hot. An unfair representation of what Greek food is all about.

How they have remained in business is a mystery.
Portions are not not exactly generous, the majority of the mezedes starters taste as if they are from packages not uncommonly found in supermarkets.

They do the typical kleftiko which in no way resembles fresh or well cooked lamb.

Overpriced, uninspiring and poor quality.

Returning to the Walpole after a couple of years absence, I was pleased to see that not much had changed. The basic dÃ©cor and brown paper tablecloths may not promise much, but the food still shines through. The vibrant hostess Wendy is still there, exuberantly explaining the menu in minute detail, ensuring you will change your mind several times about what to order as each dish unfolds.

Prices seem to have dropped since our last visit, though portions sizes are still very generous, and the wine specials are still there tempting you to try something tasty.

We started with the Zucchine Fritti with honey mayonnaise; and the English Asparagus with hollandaise sauce. The asparagus was really good, though I did find the zucchini a little oily for my taste.

For main course we had the Romney Marsh Lamb with pomme puree, glazed carrots & mint sauce; the Venison Paillard, mushroom risotto & Madeira sauce; and the Duck Confit with Jersey royals, spring greens & redcurrant jelly. Some of the venison was a little over cooked, but the creamy risotto made up for it, while the lamb was absolutely delicious, and I loved the glazed carrots too.

Desserts were almost impossible to squeeze in, but we pushed on, trying the Chocolate Pot with vanilla ice cream; the Blackcurrant Sorbet; and some Chocolate truffles and Turkish delight. This isnâ¬"t somewhere I would choose to come for dinner in the evening as I gather the pub is generally very noisy and not conducive to a pleasant meal out, but it does make a good choice for lunch. Thereâ¬"s a nice terrace with views of Pitzhanger Manor, perfect for sunny days, and inside the large first floor shares similar views and has plenty of space for diners. There are large wooden tables and comfortable leather seating. The changing displays of photos by local photographers are a nice touch. If I have a criticism itâ¬"s that service can be slow â¬ when we were there for lunch with friends on a recent Sunday we got the distinct impression that our waiter had forgotten all about us for a while, and it wasnâ¬"t busy so there was no real excuse for that.

The menu is the same as every Ha! Ha! Bar, with a lot of the regular pub choices. I like the fishcakes in particular, and Chris nearly always chooses a burger. They also do a 2 course Sunday Roast for Â£10, which sounds like a bargain though Iâ¬"ve never sampled it.

This is our local Indian, and fulfils that role admirably. Expect nothing fancy here, just good traditional curries and other dishes served in a pleasant environment (clean lines, nice prints and no flock wallpaper, but not ultra modern) by efficient and friendly waiters. Weâ¬"ve been coming here for years and are yet to have a bad meal, but at the same time we donâ¬"t expect to be excited by whatâ¬"s on offer either. This is our safe choice for when we want to eat out (or order in) rather than cook.

For starters we particularly like their aloo chat, and for mains they do a great mushroom bhagi and I love their dhansak dishes. Situated halfway between Ealing Broadway and South Ealing, on a small parade of shops, is this family run Portuguese restaurant, which we particularly like to visit in summer. The Mediterranean flavours and the strong emphasis on seafood seem especially suited to warm weather â¬ indeed there are quite a few tables on the pavement outside to take advantage of this, and the restaurant is thankfully a little set back from the main road.

Service here is laid-back (OK, occasionally slow!) and friendly. The staff know many of their regular customers well, it seems, and are always ready for a chat. The dÃ©cor is simple, almost more like a cafÃ© than a restaurant, and indeed breakfast and other light meals are served during the day â¬ check out the pastries if you have a sweet tooth.

Starters include batatas picantes (spicy potatoes much like the Spanish papatas bravas), squid rings, grilled sardines, prawns etc. We usually get a couple to share, tapas style, but portions are large, so one between two, or two or three between four, is plenty. For a main course I usually choose seafood, and particularly like the monkfish kebabs, with large chunks of moist fish alternating with peppers and onions. But there are meat dishes too, several of which come with a spicy chilli and garlic sauce that is a speciality here â¬ Chris has enjoyed the calves liver on more than one occasion. Vegetarian choices are limited but there are a few risotto-like dishes that would fit the bill. Prices are reasonable, with most starters under Â£5 and most mains under Â£10. To accompany our meal we nearly always choose the Vinho Verde, as its freshness and hint of a sparkle is perfect with this cuisine.

This is a rarity in the London area â¬ a genuinely Italian, non-chain restaurant. I can almost guarantee that as soon as you walk through the door you will think you are somewhere in Italy! OK, the door doesn't look great, but peep behind it to see the pretty courtyard and the restaurant beyond, and I gurantee you'll be chramed.

The dÃ©cor is rustic Italian, with solid wooden tables and homely touches. Youâ¬"re likely to be welcomed by an Italian waiter or waitress, and as soon as you sit down a bowl of tasty olives will materialise, setting the tone for a down-to-earth but delicious meal.

Iâ¬"ve never had a bad meal here, but some particular stand-outs that come to mind are the beef carpaccio starter, and several good fish dishes that Iâ¬"ve had for mains. Chris is a pizza addict and always enjoys them here.

In good weather there are also some table set outside in the courtyard â¬ the surroundings are nothing special but rhe owners have done their best to create a Mediterranean atmosphere, and itâ¬"s pleasant to be able to eat outside without having traffic passing too close (another rarity in London!)This is a rarity in the London area â¬ a genuinely Italian, non-chain restaurant. This place was just to laugh at with the service, I've been to restaurants around the world, and this one took the cake for bad food! Don't go there expecting to get the right service! Very unpleasant people throwing plate on your table and hurrying you out the door. I later Googled the place to make a complaint and not to my surprise. The CoCo Noodle bar was hit with a fine and lawsuit for having RATS live in there kitchen. Disgusting people need to be put out of business instead of hit with a fine! Don't eat there it's not worth it, your better off with KFC or Mc Donald's (or even that sandwich from the gas station)! I give this restaurant NO STARS!!!!! After being introduced to the Hare & Tortoise about 6 months ago I must have been back there at least a dozen times and not once has it disappointed me.

I always start with the edamame and then move on to miso soup and sushi. The sushi is always delicious (I would recommend the eel, the tuna and the tofu).

The main courses are big enough to share and when washed down with the green tea (which you pay about Â£1 for an have unlimited refills!) I leave there with a fully contented belly!

When the bill comes you will not be in for any nasty shocks either, it is so very reasonably priced for the quality you are getting.

NOt overly expensive and worth every penny the chicken Korma is, not the most adventurous curry, but amazingly good and comes with complimentary mago sauce, minty cucumber and mixed veg. The nan is always hot on arrival and the onion bajjis are pretty good too. Quick delivery time means you're not left hungry. Amongst others... one great thing about Ealing has to be the choice when it comes to Japanese food!

And for some reason Okawari doesn't do it for me.

The settings do keep your mind ocupied for the first 10 minutes as you settle down a the table, but then not only the service is average, but so is the food...

Unfortunately, when you are competing whith a few compatriots only a few yards down the road, you ought to up your game!

With the Japanese school situated in West Acton,there's a strong concentration of japanese expats families around the Ealing Common area and that's where the best Japanese restaurants (I believe) are.

So forget about Ealing Broadway and head for the Uxbridge rd ... Two doors down from Ealing Common tube station you'll discover an authentic Japanese cuisine with a hint of W5 (verging on W3)!

Pizza On The Green is a relaxed, local feeling restaurant, located only a one minute walk from Ealing Broadway station, opposite Haven Green (hence the name).

Dining mid-week, we were pleased to see the place was nice and busy.

The menu doesn't only include pizzas, but also pasta and other Italian style dishes. We both decided to have pizza - I had a Margherita with added Chicken & Sun Dried Tomato and Alex had the Quattro Stagione. We washed it down with a nice bottle of Italian wine.

One of my Favourite place for sushi.It's just 10 min drive away from me..remember to book though cause it's busy every night.
Don't aspect other japanese food here cause they only do sushi.
the sashimi is extremely fresh and their sushi is just top quality.
The miso soup is a must try cause they actually add shellfish and loads of tofu and seaweed into it.
There are quite a few japanese store nearby too.

I'm not one to buy the Observer. I mean really I wouldn't want to make the wrong impression now. But according to them Alan Yau (of Yautacha and Hakkasan fame) rates this one of the top 5 chinese in the country.
Now I used to walk past this place every day. Have dined here more often then I can remember and I must say Msr Yau isn't to far off the mark.
The ambience is pleasant enough, service abrupt but endearing in the way only chinese restaurants can be. The menu is littered with classics but I must say that the bang bang chicken and the prawn with ginger and springonion are both brilliantly executed. The menu gets far more exotic than this in fact ... but you don't need to venture to far into the selection to be very pleasantly surprised.
This really is a place for locals. In fact most people would drive straight by given the way it is hidden behind the discrete brick work.
But if you happen to be in W13 make sure you follow Mr Yau's advice.

The menu is littered with classics but I must say that the bang bang chicken and the prawn with ginger and springonion are both brilliantly executed. The menu gets far more exotic than this in fact ... but you don't need to venture to far into the selection to be very pleasantly surprised.
This really is a place for locals. In fact most people would drive straight by given the way it is hidden behind the discrete brick work.
But if you happen to be in W13 make sure you follow Mr Yau's advice.

We visited this café/restaurant midweek for a treat and it was great. The atmosphere was relaxed and the decor was lovely. It has a slightly Moroccan feel to the place but the menu includes a range of dishes with European, Mediterranean and Middle Eastern influences. I ordered the Belly Dancer which was spiced lamb mince in roasted red peppers served with couscous and tsatziki. It was delicious! My friends had meatballs and a different type of stuffed pepper. For dessert I had vanilla ice-cream and to end delicious mint tea. They also serve traditional English fruit cake, pineapple cake, halva and other sweets for dessert. This is one of our favourite lunch spots in Ealing, although I find the atmosphere a bit lacking for an evening out. But the food is good - the pasta is always tasty and they make a great mushroom risotto. At lunchtime it matters less that it can be a bit noisy. It is family-friendly and good for small groups but I wouldn't come here for a romantic evening for two.
