Under new management wine and moussaka is now a family run business. went there with my partner in the weekend, it was fantastic, food was amazing the kleftico just melted in my mouth. It was warm and welcoming the staff were very friendly. This is greek food at its best, traditional good cooking. All freshly cooked. Generous portions reasonably priced. This place is the NASTIEST place I know in Ealing.

I have had my food rudely slammed down in front of me if I ask to increase my order with another item, the water jug has been literally PLONKED in front of me.

I do not recommend this place in the least, certainly not to anyone in a good mood, who wishes to remain that way. I have no idea why they are so rude to customers.

This place is the NASTIEST place I know in Ealing.

got to be my fav japanese restaurant in London atm!

This is a great persian resturant. The service is great and staff are friendly . The function room at the back is very big and it's ideal for weddings or any other functions. An excellent restaurant that guarantees a quality atmosphere with food to match not tacky like many Mexican restaurants. The place is small and intimate - food is really nice, and surprisingly (and in all honesty) the owner of the restaurant treated us and others there like royalty!! He is lovely. They play live music on Fri and Sat nights I have been told, yet haven't experienced myself yet.An excellent restaurant that guarantees a quality atmosphere with food to match not tacky like many Mexican restaurants. From the outside you would not guess that by night this cafe turns into a sophisticated restaurant. The maÃ®tre d' took exceptional care to describe the provenance of each dish.

I had some delicious huge spears of asparagus; not the least bit woody, followed by very tasty sea bass.

What puts off some diners is the sheer size of the portions; and beyond overwhelming the eater, it seems wrong to be leaving food.From the outside you would not guess that by night this cafe turns into a sophisticated restaurant. I must say that i cant keep away from this place, the staff are great, the food is great, and such a great selection. Situated in Ealing Common, it is a bit of a trek. I hardly go out west at all, so I was happy to note that it is opposite the tube station, giving you no chance to get lost (much). I'd heard the decor isn't much to look at, but seeing as my favourite sushi place, Ten Ten Tei in Brewer Street isn't either, this could only be a good thing.

From the outside, Sushi Hiro looks a bit lifeless. Frosted white glass makes it look closed. When we walked in, we were immediately greeted with the smell of very fresh fish - a bit like the seaside, and not at all fishy. Tables line the walls, simply decorated with chopsticks, a napkin and soy with saucers, as well as some stools at a sushi bar.

The menu is a tick box affair, with a plastic laminate guide with pictures. It's a really short menu with no hot dishes except miso soup - sushi and sashimi was the order of the day. I tend to suffer from great indecision, so it was good to see the deluxe set had a nice long list of fish it included; belly tuna, surf cram (sic!), salmon, sweet shrimp, scallop, mackerel, roe, eel, and... er... I forget the rest. We also ordered some pickled gourd and pickled radish maki to accompany, with a beer to wash it all down with.

When the sushi arrived, I was relieved to see it didn't resemble the rather depressing platter offered at Tomoe, which was also called the Deluxe Nigiri Set and at the same price. Visually, it was stunning. The fish was of excellent quality and the rice was freshly cooked and still a little warm. The fish to rice ratio was perfect, and a great selection of fish - not just the standard salmon and tuna. Easily the best sushi I've had in London. The pickled vegetable maki was also good, although we did comment that it could have been a little more pickled. We are pickle fiends though and knowing Japanese pickles are usually a lot sweeter, I think it's pretty inconsequential.

I definitely want to go back and go for a big blow-out as I was watching the budget this day. It was great value; the excellent platter, the maki and a beer each for came to £65 for the three of us, with some complimentary edamame and green tea thrown in. The rather long trek out west was worth it. Watch out for the funny opening hours though.

Great tarka dahl - really really authentic. Lamb curry is really great for those who want a notch up from Chicken Tikka Masala.

Suggest taking your time to explain what you're really looking for - Bangladeshi cuisine is typically very thick sauces and lots of chicken / lamb.

Sorry to start on a bad note with this establishment.
However, we decided to go for a "brunch" at about 1.30pm on Sunday 3rd May. The place wasn't crowded - with a few people inside and a few people sitting outside. We seated ourselves (as nobody else bothered to) and the waiter attended fairly promptly with his "pad". Trouble was, there was no sign of any menu - so perhaps we were meant to make our decision on the one by the door. I politely asked to see a menu and the waiter grabbed one from a nearby chair and sort of dropped it on the table - that's what it seemed like. He came back five minutes or so later - which was fine - and took the orders for 2 of their Oporto Special All Day Breakfast. "No coffee" he said abruptly. "We have no coffee today".
So we asked for tea instead. "Yes!",
No hint of "can I get you something else", or "we won't charge for it".
Off he went. The order arrived - absolutely fine - a good large portion of breakfast and quality ingredients, nicely cooked. Lovely freshly sqeezed orange juice.
All I am complaining about is the attitude of the waiter (who I think was the manager too). He was abrupt and impolite. We only "overheard" in a later conversation with another customer who had come in for a take away coffee, that the coffee machine had broken down. He hadn't bothered to explain that to us.
£15 nowadays is over the odds for a brunch (x2) - there's better value and certainly better manners elsewhere. I do wish The Walpole had been open!.
The bill stated "Service not included" - that was so true! Shan't go back there again.

Oh deary me...we returned to this well established restaurant with the hope of an excellent meal and celebratory dinner, from prior experiences. It was not to be...

On a Sunday night, the place was virtually empty, so you would think the presence of some paying customers and bodies might encourage some smiles or warmth, alas 'twas not to be. We arrived en masse, seven altogether, two children in tow, guaranteeing a substantial amount for the restaurant to rub their hands together later that evening. However, the presence of the two children marred the owner/manager's night, for their liveliness and bountiful energy seemed to gain disapproval from him, glancing and staring broodingly with no smiles nor a greeting. His presence was like a cloak of doom over what could have been an amazing night. Considering the credit crunch is affecting everyone, and people have a huge choice from which to spend their hard earned money, the customer experience was not a great one, warmth was sorely lacking.

Credit where credit is due - the food was mostly very good which everyone enjoyed (bar the naan bread which was gloopy and the peshwari naan was not sweet, unlike every other peshwari naan I have ever tasted at the 20+ Indian restaurants I have eaten in).

The service was perfunctory and clinical with a distinct lack of warmth or acknowledgement that we were about to spend a significant amount of money.

Considering it is a buyer's market at the moment, I would recommend avoiding this place like the plague, particularly if you have children who move, unless of course they are automatons, which I think he would have preferred. There is better food and service with a better welcome, and let's be honest dining is all about the experience and not just the food, in many other places, like Karahi, the Laguna, the Clay Oven, and a thousand in Southall, 5 miles up the road.

I never write reviews on web sites but after eating at this restaurant last night I felt that I needed to do so! From the outside this place doesn't look so great, but I'd read a few reviews and thought I'd give it a try. We were greeted by friendly staff who put us on a table for 2 by a peeling paint wall! Really poorly decorated! We ordered wine and it came promptly, with a basket of bread and a bowl of olives. I asked the waitress for her recommendation of a main meal which she choose the fillet steak in mushroom sauce priced Â£15.10. We also ordered a starter and a pizza.

The starter came, it was ok, nothing special but not bad,also the wine was good! Then on to the mains, the pizza came first, again, it was ok, nothing special, but better than a tesco frozen packet pizza. Then,the steak arrived!! Hmmm...it looked like a small child had slapped it on the plate,with a dollop of sauce thrown on top. Again, its taste that counts right!? Unfortunately, not in this case,it was bad...really bad!! Honestly, it was the 2nd worst steak I've ever eaten in my life, would have been better off going to the weatherspoons and ordering a rump steak there! We both tried it, and I couldn't eat it! I never normally send food back but there was no way I was paying Â£15 for this! The manager came over and I told him I didn't like it and what it was I didn't like about it. He was surprised and said "This is how they've been for 15 years"!! Fair enough, but maybe that is why on a Friday night its practically empty! He took it away and said he'd bring me something else, a chicken dish.

The pizza was gone, and the vegetables, oh yeah, the "soggytables" as they should be called! About 15 minutes later my chicken dish arrived,this was better than the steak, but honestly, that wouldn't be very hard! If you like rubber chicken, and tasteless sauce then this is the dish for you!!

I really like Indian food! When I was growing up, mu parents would always insist on serving traditional british food. The most adventurous they got was spaghetti bolognaise or chilli con carne. Nothing else outside of England would ever be cooked or tried! I suppose this is why I really do like tasting the food of other cultures. Maybe a little bit too much, my waistline is really bulging! A vast amount of that bulge is down to the food served in the restaurant here, and also their take away. It truly is delicious food! The clay oven came highly recommended. I believe another branch in Alperton, and maybe another in Wembley?? Anyway, we went to this on in ealing late one Friday night. In general the food seemed to be of good quality, a good range on the menu and wide range of tastes. The dÃ©cor of the restaurant was a little dated, looking like an old fashioned Indian restaurant; they do not market themselves like this. The staff were attentive, but lacked any real skill to build any type of rapport. I went to this restaurant quite a while ago so please bear this in mind, also I thought the food could have been cheaper.The clay oven came highly recommended. I have never been to a persian restaurant before so i really didn't know what to expect in terms of food, price or service. I am please to report that its actually quite good! The decor is welcoming and the staff are all friendly and welcoming too. There is a wide range of meals to choose from although i think vegetarians may not have such a wide choice. The service here is top notch, the staff are so friendly and never far away if you need something else to accompany your meal. The prices were also outstandingly cheap, far cheaper than i expected! We went here a while ago, partly because friends who used to live in Ealing raved about it, and said that it was so special that they celebrated their wedding anniversary there every year. The other reason was that we got a leaflet with a special offer through the door!

I don't remember much about the food -- it was fine, but not particularly memorable. I do remember that we ate in the basement, which wasn't particularly appealing. It was quite squashed, and also dark (obviously).

Even with the special offer, the food was quite pricey. I've eaten here once and got takeaway bits a few times. The meal I had was good, but nothing particularly special. Speed of service was average, staff were fine.

The takeaway stuff is also tasty, but incredibly overpriced. I recently bought a medium tub of olives and the same size tub of pickled onions (they've probably got a fancier name for them -- admittedly, they were pickled in balsamic vinegar) and it came to Â£13! Incredible! They were good, but not that good!
