It used to be cheap and cheerful; now it's neither cheap nor cheerful.

They closed earlier this year (2008) for refurbishment and reopened looking basically as tatty as it was before with a few drapes added to make it look a bit different! Now they even change the drinks prices during the evening to suit themselves!

The owners are a couple (Frank and Sylvia De Souza?) - he collects money at the door and their door prices change with the wind and she (the "barracuda" of my title) works the bar. When I say "works" she basically stands around ordering the staff around like they're something nasty on the bottom of her shoe and she treats the customers even worse.

The last few times I've been there, there have hardly been any customers in there (maybe 12-15 people in total); they're always short-staffed (staff regularly walk out because the woman owner treats them so poorly) and customers have to wait so long to get served that they get bored and walk out, going to Priory a few doors away or The Boulevard around the corner.

I have been going there for well over a decade but my visits there are down to less than once in 6 months now - a big thumbs down from me. Maybe I'll stop going there full stop. They seem to think they can run a business without any customers as they're just too rude to the few they have left!

Oh and the DJ has been there for years and he just plays the same records now as he has been doing for over 10 years! Give the man a budget to buy some new tracks!

There are more than enough pubs in Ealing to satisfy every taste, but this is a particular favourite of ours. It seems to attract a more mixed clientele than others near us, which tend to be either very young and studenty (most of the Ealing Broadway ones, in the evenings at least), or at the opposite extreme a bit â¬Ssuburbanâ¬

The Red Lion is by far the best pub in ealing if you are after good beer and good quality Pub Food.

The Beer is always of a top standard and as such the pub has been awarded countless CAMRA awards. Being a Fullers pub there is always Chiswick, London Pride and ESB on tap with one or two specials on at anyone time.

The pub has plenty of seating indoors and there is a spacious courtyard beer garden with heating and covered areas. But make sure you get there early-ish as it can become very busy outdoors in the summer.

The Food is very good and freshly cooked, with the menu changin daily. It is a bit on the pricey side although the burgers are excellent.

All in all it is a pub that is well worth the extra 5 minute walk from ealing broadway centre. The Red Lion is by far the best pub in ealing if you are after good beer and good quality Pub Food.

The Common Room is a stylish looking bar serving decent food, close to Ealing Common. It has a clean, modern interior, some tables out the front (on busy Uxbridge Road), and friendly service.

We have popped in there a couple of times for a drink, and for a meal on one occasion. The menu had an eclectic mix and there were plenty of wines by the glass to keep us happy.

The Ealing Park Tavern is a popular gastropub located in a not so fashionable part of Ealing. The dining room has high celings and chunky wooden furniture. There is a blackboard menu, reasonable wine list (mostly French), and service was good.

We both had rib-eye steak with chips and red wine butter - all tasty. We shared a particularly delicious vanilla bean creme brulee for desert. It was good honest food.

First time visit recently and most certainly the last. When my Scottish boyfriend had the affront to ask, after we had ordered our drinks, if we had been served Irish or Scotch, the barmaid told the manageress about it (even though it was a polite enquiry, not a complaint) who then came and questioned us about it, not in a polite way but in a how-dare-you-question-what-youâ¬"re-given-in-this-pub way. Iâ¬"m Irish and have always enjoyed drinking in the Irish pubs in West London and have always come across friendly staff, but not in this case. First time visit recently and most certainly the last. QUiet pub full of locals behing ealing broadway centre. BEecause its quiet pretty much anyone can get served in there and a mass gathering is not out of the question. The bar staff are friendly but dont talk much which is fine. Comfee seats, variety of beers and other drinks, outside seating and dingey toilets. FIne if you're just feeling a drink in ealing. The Grange Pub & Dining Room is located across the road from Ealing Common, about 8 minutes walk from Ealing Common Tube. It has been completely renovated in the last couple of years and is now a fabulous place to go for a drink or a meal - a top class gastropub. With a cosy open fire in winter and a beer garden for summer, really tasty food and a good wine list, it is the type of local everyone should have!

It actually used to be my local and we ended up here quite a bit - mainly for lunch or dinner. The food was consistently good, though it has recently been taken over and I have heard a couple of less complimentary comments of late.

My favourite time to visit the Grange is for Sunday lunch - their Roasts are the best I have had in London. If you have room for dessert, they also do a mean Sticky Toffee Pudding.

You can sit in the bar or garden and order from the Bar Menu, or sit in the restaurant area for an extended menu. If you want the restaurant then you will probably need to book ahead - this is a very popular place with the locals.
