was shattered after a hard day at work yesterday & wanted to have a long drink, so I popped into bar social as was passing it, never again will I pass by this bar. It is a great find. The selection of drinks is astounding. The staff were more helpful than we are use to in this rush rush day and age.

They also had some great offers on that were more rthan appreciated in these crunch times.

Went for late lunch on a Sunday to celebrate a birthday and were more than satisfied. The food was delicious and good value for money. The staff were friendly, welcoming and the service was prompt and polite. Overall, would highly recommend this restaurant.

I have very mixed feelings about Moen and Sons. They do often have a good selection of interesting meats (grouse in season, they sell home-made haggis for Burns night, etc.) and the shop itself is very attractive, all victorian glass and tiling.

But it's just so darned expensive - they seem to have adopted the look and feel as well as the prices of Harrod's Food Hall, and unless you really know what you're doing you can be taken for a ride. On more than one occasion they've attempted to sell me substandard pork (too lean) and the last beef ribeye didn't have a great deal of flavour. To be fair, I have occasionally also struck gold with a brilliant pheasant and you can sometimes find speciality chicken.

All in all, it's better than Sainsbury's, but it's still not quite as good as Hennessey's on Northcote Road. Hennessey's may not have fancy tiled walls and organic bread, but they don't rip you off and the whole experience is a great deal less intimidating.I have very mixed feelings about Moen and Sons. We visited Trinity recently for the 'Sunday Supper Deal', having really enjoyed it the first time we dined there. I love the focus on British ingredients and their style, which is one of sophisticated comfort food. The Sunday supper menu is a lot more rustic than the regular Trinity fare but even the latter, despite being a damn sight more fancy - has a very honest and soothing quality about it.

We first fell in love at The Taste Festival earlier this year, where I must have given them my e-mail address as I have received drool-worthy teasers since, that have worked exactly as intended. Our first real visit, we were a party of six and on arrival, found we had been allocated the chefâ¬"s table, which was a rather pleasant surprise. I remember enjoying a delicate crab and avocado salad and a main of juicy, tender suckling pig - that nightâ¬"s special, advertised as using every bit of the piggy - oink oink.

Just when I was undecided about where to dine last week, another superbly timed e-mail dropped into my inbox. Trinity have introduced a Sunday supper deal. You get three courses - a choice of two starters, a set main course (a whole roast joint or fish, to be shared between a couple or group), a choice of two desserts, a pre-dinner drink, and coffee - setting you back 30 of your finest pounds (sans booze).

There are many things I love about Trinity and this is the first - the bread. Those little rolls are the most adorable angular shape and oh-so cheesy. They are wonderfully warm and when you break them apart and get ready to give them what they want (a good buttering), you get a poof of cheesy steam right up in your face. Fantastic.

To start, we were offered either Jerusalem â¬Üartichoke soup with hazelnut Chantillyâ¬" or â¬Ühand chopped terrine of middle white pork, prunes and pistachios with chutney and warm country breadâ¬". I opted for the terrine, which was bloominâ¬" marvellous. Great chunks of meatiness interspersed with fantastic sweet date pockets and flecked green with pistachios. Great textures too, soft ham, even softer dates and then crunchy nutty fun in between.

This was my first experence here and my god how bad was it food was average at best and was rushed in and out in 40 mins thats starter main and drinks!

My first house in London was a horrific ground floor flat with cracked lino floors, a terrifying gas oven and a serious mouse problem. Our moving in party on November 4th 2005 caused chaos. Someone hot boxed our landlord's car. Someone was sick over the fence into our lovely next door neighbour's sand-pit. Someone then fell through the same fence and propped it up with a super-market trolley. Then we let off enough fire-works to make our local community wish they were living in the Helmand Province. Then the police arrived to ask if any of us had witnessed the assault that had been committed in the pub opposite our house - in the Stonhouse.

It was the grottiest pub you can imagine. The most hostile atmosphere that makes being a Liverpool fan in Istanbul seem like a romantic holiday. My housemate at the time and I went to have our inaugural pint in our local and couldn't have felt more uncomfortable... the pool table had no baize, the walls had no paint, the toilets had no toilets and the walls were riddled with bizarre holes. It was horrific. Then mysteriously one night it conveniently caught fire and almost over night transformed into a very smart gastro-pub.

So it was with great fondness and no less curiosity that I returned to Stonhouse Street for a pre-cinema meal on Friday. I arrived feeling very warm and fairly full having been treated to some fantastic prawns and white wine at Wright's in Borough Market on the way back from the brilliant Rothko exhibition.

The transformation from ugly duckling to sauve, urbane swan is really hard for me to cope with. But in a good way. Somebody has done a fabulous job of resurrecting this phoenix from the flames.

The Â£12 fixed menu was tight but generous... whilst my crab cakes could generously be described as poor, the steak was as good as you'll get for the price. It came with a very commendable basil and lemon mayonnaise and enough chips to put a smile on Mr McCain's face.

The girls probably did better than me. Victoria's chicken liver and mushrooms on toast was delicious and extremely plentiful. I'm not one to take off marks for large portions... but it did dent her appetite for a few minutes! Cowie junior's smoked salmon pate was very smokey and beautifully coarse. Good honest food. Really tasty. Far tastier than my lump of crispy edged deep fried mashed potato with ghost of crab.

They both couldn't resist having fish pie on a Friday being the good Catholic school girls that they are. I didn't even get a sniff of it so it must have been good.

Our Chilean red was robust and good value. I certainly left with a good ready brek glow... ready to battle through 2 hours of Keira Knightly plodding her way through another period drama.

Hats off to the Stonhouse. It was completely packed when we left. I have been eating pizza at Eco for maybe 20 years - a long time, certainly. And until recently I never ate less than decently and more often than not ate really well. Sometimes their pizzas were brilliant - a real joy sufficient to bring a contented smile to everyone. Then the last time I went, for lunch Sunday, it was no longer so. Oddly, it was half empty - Sunday used to be a bunfight to get a table. We ordered a piccante and a mozzarella di buffalo and they were, well, adequate. But the cheese was that nasty plastic stuff and the tomato sauce was thin in both taste and consistency. The quality of the rest of the ingredients was also lower than it used to be. A lot of my friends go here once in a while to reminisce on being a student and drink that filthy concoction known as snakebite and black - lager, cider and blackcurrant, which is guaranteed to give you a massive hangover if drunk in sufficient quantity. It has a sort of saloon/ wild west feel to it. Although upstairs is a bit more pleasant/ classy and quite a nice place to get a load of friends together as it is spacious. Drinks prices are standard Clapham prices, not excessive. Apart from housing two of my main bugbears - a point in the evening where the bar stops serving pints (only bottles) and *those* 'bathroom beggars', I found The Loft to have a great, easy-going vibe with very attentive and friendly staff. In fact some of the friendliest bar staff I have come across - chatty, respectful and eager to please. I held my 30th birthday drinks here recently and the team were great will all my guests; and following a tip-off from my fiancÃ© - even made a special 'birthday panna cotta' (as opposed to bday cake) with a candle in it. Nice touch ;)

The place itself looks cool without being self-conscious about it, and you can forget you're in Clapham for a while. Would recommend, especially for parties or reservations. Ended up here Saturday afternoon as Eco - the pizza place across the road - was having a power cut. Seriously enjoyed the ribs which was a surprise - was thinking they might be a bit horrible based on the burger/chain/american prejudice that normally steers me away from such places. The beer was utterly tasteless, but the beef ribs were meaty, juicy and very flavoursome. On entering, you are shown to your table by the jovial and friendly proprietor (and waiter and chef, apparently). For a fixed price of around Â£11, you are given around 20 small dishes ranging from macaroni cheese to houmous, salads, roast chicken and lamb. Vegetarians are equally well catered for (or so my vegetarian friend tells me). Wine is sold by the bottle - you have a choice of white or red, obscure, but perfectly matched to the food.

Once inside, you sit at the shared benches. Service is good, without frills. Main courses are about Â£6 each, with rice an additional Â£2 or so. There is a small selection of wines and the usual beers and soft drinks to go with your meal.

The food is very good, pretty authentic Thai style. Especially good are the red curries (look out for the duck red curry special - great!) and the pad thai noodles.

Thoroughly recommended if you're in the Clapham Common area and need a quick and reasonably priced bite to eat. Chinese food the way it should be! No fusion - no badly made supposedly Thai or Japanese dishes. Just Chinese food and done very well!

Food tastes great and not loaded with salt + MSG like most places. Service is excellent and delivery service is usually on time.

Been eating in Indian Flavours from the early days, nice too see the assistant chef has progressed to head chef. Most of the worker have been there for a long time. It shows consistency and loyalty, that's good for business and the customers. A fantastic spot just on Clapham High Street (it's only a few minutes walk from Clapham North). There is outdoor seating on the high street where you can sit and people watch all afternoon!
Inside you can choose to sit in the restaurant side or the bar side; there is an excellent selection of beers on offer (the name kind of gives it away!!) and I would recommend the raspberry flavoured one.
We chose to eat in the restaurant and were quickly seated by the friendly staff, despite it being a busy Saturday evening. Our waitress was extremely helpful and gave us some tips on what to order... boyfriend went for the steak which was cooked to perfection while I opted for the Mussels.. cooked in a garlicky sauce they were very impressive! I got a huge portion and some bread to soak up the sauce..

We chose to eat in the restaurant and were quickly seated by the friendly staff, despite it being a busy Saturday evening. Our waitress was extremely helpful and gave us some tips on what to order... boyfriend went for the steak which was cooked to perfection while I opted for the Mussels.. cooked in a garlicky sauce they were very impressive! I got a huge portion and some bread to soak up the sauce..
A great place for great food at a very reasonable price.

These guys know how to cook. Whatever you want, they will cook it to perfection, even if it deviates from their menu. The chef even came out to check everything was to our liking, and boy, it was! I wish I was a millionaire as I would privately hire these chefs, they are that good. Anyway, I shall stop dribbling now. The restaurant itself was very nice, good decorations and lighting and atmosphere. Was very happy with the service too and the prices were totally fine. Top marks to this place, and I would be happy to eat there every night of the week. Ten out of ten.These guys know how to cook. If you like good old fashioned pubs, this is the place for you. It is very friendly and has a really nice atmosphere. It is right in the centre of Clapham and very convenient and easy to get to. The front door virtually steps out on to the road, and the whole place looks really nice and is presented well. My other half said the beers were really good (I am a wine drinker I'm afraid!) and he is generally quite fussy, so it must have been good there! We go there regularly now, and it is open late. Until 1am I think. Unfortunately this is not good for our bank balance as it can be hard to leave! Nice venue, good selection of beers, dj's on fridays and weekends playing a good selection of music, live bands / acoustic nights in the week .....all in all well worth a venture and a hidden gem.
Check it out there is always loads going on.
