Confusingly named, the Katana restaurant is still one of my favourite restaurants in the West End. The service is exceptionally high, from the moment you walk in. I don't think I have ever been asked before if I am happy with the location of the table when seated! The decor is modern and well patronised by business types, but as the service is so friendly, it's also relaxed and unpretentious. They describe themselves as pan Asian - quite an eclectic menu and the food has always been good whenever I have dined there. If you book in advance, you can also take up one of their spacial menu offers which then makes it very good value for money.Confusingly named, the Katana restaurant is still one of my favourite restaurants in the West End. Let me set the scene. A friend of mine, a new Mum, had arranged a night off, one where she could leave her house for a few hours and indulge, priorities were nice food and cocktails and some company.

I had heard about Wahaca and was keen to try it, I love good Mexican food and it's not something that you can come across without some effort in London. I had heard that this was the real deal, a friend who had lived in Mexico was very impressed and highly recommended it. It's also in Covent Garden, a convenient point for both of us.

Another point of interest was that it was owned by winner of Masterchef, Thomasina Miers, someone I didn't have much affection for on the TV (at the time, she has since won me over with her Cooks Tour of Spain) but her knowledge of the cuisine and quest for authenticity appealed.

So, off we went, knowing the situation, our expectations were wagamama's canteen style eating and a cheap and authentic eat. We expected a queue and weren't surprised to find one. And so we queued.

While queueing we noticed alot of people were passing us out and it wasn't really very controlled. It seemed the guy manning it was more interested in theatrics and having everyone finding him funny than in being professional and efficient. At first I could ignore it, but, half an hour in I was beyond frustrated. Eventually we approached him and arranged to come back an hour later. This apparantly was the system and even though he was only 6 feet away from us, he didn't approach us at any point in that half an hour to tell us so. We trundled off an had a cocktail in nearby La Perla and returned promptly for our table only to be faced with the same scenario of lack of control or knowledge about who in the queue was next or when anyone would get a table.

About to leave, I expressed my frustration politely and it was handled very badly. The customer is always right, no? Not at Wahaca. Someone else took control and seated us, profusely apologising and provided drinks on the house. We had some nice mojitos and started to settle, things were getting better. We ordered some items from the street food menu and the mole. Both were very good, quite light and full of flavour, exactly what I would have expected.

The ambience? The decor is bright and modern, very nice. It's full on of a weekend evening, large groups, birthday parties, lots of noise, so great for groups but not so great if you just want to catch up with a friend. Happy Birthday was sang raucously more than once in our 2 hours here (there was even a tambourine) and while it was great for the birthday boy/girl, I could have done without it.

To sum up: the food is good and it's a vibrant place, nice decor, central location, but, the start of the evening left a sour taste in my mouth and did taint the experience for us. I wouldn't discount it and will try it again but for a nicer mexican street food experience I prefer the more intimate Taqueria in Westbourne Grove.Let me set the scene. Long established Covent Garden eaterie. The choice of English food and 'delicacies' is quite good, although I've not found anything here that was truly outstanding.
If pie and mash, sausages, pork pies and stuffing appeals to you, you can't go wrong here.
If I was going to Porters again I would probably seek out one of their special offers and avoid the pre-theatre rush.

Service is typically English, reasonably friendly and quite prompt. The restaurant gets crowded quite quickly and can be a bit of a squeeze.
The selection of wines and beers in the restaurant is quite good, and if you like the beers you might want to try the Porters Bar, a couple of doors down the street.

This is my all time faverate sushi restaurant. I am always skeptical of any restaurant near tourist spots, but this is definately a diamond in the rough. Sit up stairs on the mezzine level and the place seems bigger and airier then the other two levels. The staff are friendly and happy to explain the bits of the menu that members of the party were unsure about. Also after the meal we ordered anoother bottle of wine, and they were happy for us to stay where we were, there isn't many restaurants in the area who would be happy for a table to be occupied for more then 2 hours!This is my all time faverate sushi restaurant. I have been going to Browns for years. Itâ¬"s in a great location and the building is really lovely. The dÃ©cor is nice- quite traditional. It is usually busy so the atmosphere is goof. The menu is quite varied but it doesnâ¬"t tend to change very often. There is a lot to choose from though. The desserts are amazing. The last time I went here I was really disappointed. I had asked for a round table and was told all the tables were round, but was then given a long table, the waitress was very unfriendly, the air con must have been broken etc. I wrote to the manager and he apologised and sent me a voucher- I havenâ¬"t been back yet but I probably will.I have been going to Browns for years. I have been here a couple of times as a friend works here. I have found that the cocktails are the best quality in London, although you pay an expensive price but it's well worth it. I like the crushed ice they use for the mochitos, it's a different shape than the regular!

The crowd is upmarket and you do get a kind of stuffier atmosphere from some of the business people that frequent it, but it depends what sort of night out you're looking for. The bar area does not have adequate seating space so be warned that if you only want a drink you will have to be prepared to stand.I have been here a couple of times as a friend works here. There are loads of Leons around now, which is mostly a Good Thing. The food is fresh and organic and really tasty, especially the cakes. They have a kind of 'tapas' philosophy, so you can try small amounts of lots of different things. This only falls down when you get a really tiny portion of something and feel slightly cheated (but that's only happened when I've bought takeaway from there, rather than in the restaurant). Their branding is done very well, not that it makes a particular difference to the eating experience but the restaurants are all nicely designed with fun books on organic gardening and that kind of thing.There are loads of Leons around now, which is mostly a Good Thing. This is not a very nice place to eat in my opinion. The food was far too spicy and everyone in my group had an upset stomach later in the night. The waiters served us very promptly but it took ages for it to get to us, and it was only warm. I think it may have been sitting around for a while. The naanâ¬"s were disappointing too. They reminded me of Tesco value naans! I thought the chairs and tables were of lower quality as well, and they whole atmosphere put us off going there again. One of out ten for this place. Ordering a burger at Ha Ha was a mistake. Maybe the other food is better?? There are few things in the food world that people seem to agree on, though what a burger should taste like is surely a consensus. Foccacia bun was a good idea, although it was stale, very stale. The meat equally disappointed - tough and chewy, unpleasant at best.
Nice concepts - poor food quality. The creme brulee was ok. No complaints on the service. Overall, it would have been ok if the burger meal hadn't been Â£10. I love the look of this restaurant. Rather than this new 'chique' style that is popular today, the Embassy has wooden floors, wooden walls and wooden tables. There are things hanging off the walls too. For me, this atmosphere is perfect. I also love the history of Texas and the Embassy written onto the menu. It provided entertaining reading for a few minutes.

The food was standard. Burgers, ribs, chicken, stake. BBQ food. Cooked no better than you can do at home, but no worse than other Tex Mex restaurants. It is fine and dandy as they say in Texas.

This restaurant is probably a little too big. The ceilings are too high and the room to big for the customers they get. This is my first review guys so bare with me!!

I have visited lulivo many times over the past two years and it simply just gets better and better each time i come back! Firstly the decor is so very nice and cosey and the atmosphere is great, the table of four by the window is the best in the house! You can watch all the people passing by.. Everytime we have visited we have always been more then satisfied with the service, food and price. My husband gets the calzone everytime we go and it is a must! I myself have had the salmon more then once and it has always been gorgeous. Leicester square has many Italian restaurants and i have visited many as me and my husband have always been fond of the theatre and cinemas and i do think lulivo is the best!This is my first review guys so bare with me!!

Tables are far to close to each other so don't come here for a discrete meal.

The fish is always fresh and well prepared stick to simple dishes like dressed crab and a dover soul meuniere and you will not be disappointed.

The wine list is good if on the expensive side.

I cannot think of many better fish restaurants in London.

Walking into this restaurant, you are instantly greeted by friendly and extremely polite waitors/waitresses, namely Pino the most attentive and smiley of all waitors in there, where no request is too much. The atmosphere oozes romance yet creates a comforting homely feeling brought about by the dim lighting from flickering tea lights on every table and the perfect volume jazzy type music. You instantly relax knowing you are in good hands. The food is exquisite and perfectly cooked, the portions are ideal and the wine is not something to be missed (I recommend the Portugese red wine). We had our corporate Christmas party here this week, the food was average, the waiting staff were efficient, but the management were attrocious. We had arranged and paid for a bar area after our meal where we could entertain guests. After the meal we were asked to go downstairs to our arranged entertaining area only to find this barred to us. The had sneakily arranged another party to use this space and would not entaertain any arguments, it left our Christmas party standing on a gangplank in the freezing cold locked out of a boat we had booked. Disgraceful behaviour from a venue that was too greedy for the Corporate Christmas Buck. PJ's Grill is my favourite London restaurant. It's got a winning formula of convenient location, consistent food, good wine, friendly service and reasonable prices. I must have eaten there on two or three dozen occasions, have worked my way through the entire menu, and have never been disappointed. It's always busy, but comes across as cosy rather than cramped. The meat is good - excellent pork belly, good steak, and what is in my opinion the best hamburger in London. It's well worth getting to know PJ's - regulars are welcomed with genuine warmth and friendliness, and the brass plaques above each table and photographs on the walls show some of the notable regulars. I can think of nowhere I would rather eat. PJ's Grill is my favourite London restaurant. It's well worth getting to know PJ's - regulars are welcomed with genuine warmth and friendliness, and the brass plaques above each table and photographs on the walls show some of the notable regulars. I can think of nowhere I would rather eat.
