Jewel doesn't look like much from the outside. In fact, considering its location right on the edge of [the not-so-trendy side of] Soho, this particular nightclub looks vaguely seedy. However inside it delights with its mixture of oversized chandeliers and ethnic furniture, an interior that seems to be ageing quite well versus other nightclubs in the immediate area (No 1 Leicester immediately springs to mind). Its also a very convenient venue, being situated immediately opposite one of the exits/entrances to Piccadilly Circus tube station. Ideal for when you need to catch that last train home and you might be a bit unsteady on your feet.

The atmosphere in here is always buzzy and fun, there's a good mixture of music (in my opinion) and the service is pretty good even when its packed. The menu contains the standard fare, but who cares...you're there for the alcohol.Jewel doesn't look like much from the outside. This is a great place to enjoy a few cocktails after work. If you have a large group give them a call and reserve an area, itâ¬"s free of charge and well worth doing. Also, save yourself some money by getting pitchers of cocktails rather than individual glasses! The food is very nice too, it is quite simplistic but very tasty. I would have to recommend the chicken Caesar salad, the jerk chicken sandwich or on of the sharing platters. Match Bar has a great chilled atmosphere, a really good selection of music (not too loud so you have to shout!)and great selectioon of beers too!This is a great place to enjoy a few cocktails after work. I love Bradley's. It's an old, cute Spanish bar on Hanway St, just off the chaos that is Oxford St. If that were all you needed to know to get you to go there, I would stop here, but it's not, is it?

For, if you walked down Hanway St and saw the crowd drinking outside you'd probably turn heel and walk away. It looks busy. It probably is but not as much as you think, they're the smokers, and in an indie crowd they are many.

Or if you went downstairs past the gents and down to the basement bar, the state of the carpet might offend you, or the tiny ladies toilet that may await you after a few drinks. Or that stale smell that lurks in so many pubs since the smoking ban came in...

But, what of the wonderful jukebox and the charisma of this pub? The friendly crowd, pints of Guinness and bottles of Rioja? The banter with the bar staff? This is a real pub and a perfect antidote to the chains ever present in London. It's one of my favourites and the only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is probably the smell from the gents... on occasion.I love Bradley's. My boyfriend recommended the roxy after having had some good nights out there. He said it was cheap and good music. Well, the problem was that this has changed. I found it completely lacking in atmosphere. It was crowded and dark with a very small dance area spilling out in front of doors which staff were constantly using. The music wasn't great and the prices were astronomical. It is probably quite average for London but over 16 pounds for a pitcher of "cocktails" is too much for me! We got a Mai Tai but it was basically all pineapple juice. Not worth the effort. I needed alcohol to find this place acceptable but I couldn't afford it! The queue for the cloakroom was stupidly long and there wasn't enough seating. It was also quite cold. I really didn't enjoy my evening in the Roxy and I doubt I would ever venture there again. I was at Wax Bar for their Happy Hour a few weeks ago and was surrised with the amount of food which was served, given the modest pricing. I did not expect the quality of the food to be at such a high standard either.

The Social is my favourite new discovery. Looks innocuous from the outside but inside there's a 50's ish bar with horse shoe seating, good tacos & drinks list, downstairs is a second bar and very good small music venue. I went to Alaphabet with a group from work. Great bar, good atmosphere. My only gripe - I was told they serve food which was one of the reasons I decided to go there, however when we went to the bar to place an order at 9pm or just before, we were told the kitchen was closed.

A little disappointing as we had 20 very hungry people! We got drunk quicker though........

I won't have a word said against the place :)

Spread over two floors with a typical bar layout downstairs, and sofas and pool tables on the 2nd floor, the Surgeon is roomy and comfortable.

I've run meet-ups here many times and almost always drop in for a quick drink or some very good food when I'm around Leicester Square. One of the things which keep me coming back has to be the wonderful staff.
for instance, are you under one of the speakers and finding the - usually good - music a bit too loud for conversation? They'll turn it down for you, just ask. They're never less than happy to help and - wonder of wonders - come up to you with a genuine smile. A far cry from some of the surly nonsense you can find elsewhere.

I thoroughly enjoy every visit. The prices on food and drink are a little bit high but you do at least get what you pay for (generous helpings!) and its still cheaper than the local alternatives, which is saying something for a bar in that area! :)

Great place! A full range of vodkas on offer, rowdy and ideal for a pre-club couple of drinks. The chilli vodka is particularly deadly but there are plenty of other beers on offer. Unless you get there early, prepare to do your drinking standing up with plenty to stare at. It was really late at night, and where we live in my aream not many places are open and 1 am in t5he morning. So we all decided we want to go out no matter what, and we went to centrel london, came accross this bar, and it was fantastic!

The lights, entertainment and just in general smooth atnoshphere it had to deliver to us as thier guests/ravers!

Highly reccomend it.It was really late at night, and where we live in my aream not many places are open and 1 am in t5he morning. So we all decided we want to go out no matter what, and we went to centrel london, came accross this bar, and it was fantastic!

Now, I've never been to Dublin, so I have no idea what a genuine Dublin bar is like. But I have a sneaking feeling they're nothing like the O'Neills at the end of your high street, and a lot more like Toucan. Despite being a fairly new addition to Soho, Toucan already has the atmosphere of a traditional old drinking den, and thanks to bar food that includes oysters and sourdough bread, I hope it will stay for a long time to come. Friendly, inexpensive, and well worth a visit.Now, I've never been to Dublin, so I have no idea what a genuine Dublin bar is like. The Waxy OÂ´ConnorÂ´s is a pub that is located very near to Piccadilly Circus. The decoration of the pub is amazing: it has several rooms with different ambiences, I really like the forest one.
They have a good selection of beers and food and sometimes (like San Patricks, 4th of July) they have special theme food.
Usually is very crowded and the doormen are a bit rude asking to see your bag and to take out your cap, OMG itÂ´s a pub not a club!

It's one of a very few remaining "traditional" drinking dens in Soho, and no matter what time you go, it's packed to the rafters. However there's a good reason for its popularity - excellent real ales served in cozy and attractive surroundings, all served with an atmospheric slice of Olde London history. These aren't usually my kind of places at all, but I rather enjoyed my last visit to Red. The cocktails aren't fantastic, though good enough, but what really impressed was the bar menu. Vaguely oriental in flavour, I was sold a scallop dish that wouldn't be out of place in a proper restaurant. Eating it balanced on my knees was a bit of a struggle, admittedly, but I suppose that's all part of the fun. A bar so pretentious, posey and glamorous it almost inhabits a twisted world of its own. The drinks may be ordinary and overpriced, the service slow and the seating arrangements uncomfortable, but people come here for one reason only - to stand there looking cool. And rich.

If you *are* cool and rich, you'll probably love it. Karaoke Box is everything I don't want from an evening out. This place needs a total overhaul - new staff, songs, equipment, decor, furnishings... it feels seriously old-school Soho. I wouldn't wonder if they just threw out the beds and carted in the sofas & sound systems.

The staff argue with eachother and the customers at every available opportunity. They are inefficient and generally unhelpful. They misled us about the amount of space available, then turned half our party away at the door. At the end of the night we discovered that they had given the credit card we left at reception to someone else. I'm not quite sure why they would need to keep the card anyway.

The rooms are badly in need of redecoration. The drinks selection is basically non-existant (choose between wine & beer where wine = random semi-sweet white and beer = some brand you've never heard of). Over the course of two hours our microphones failed twice.

At first glance Polka has an impressive cocktail list, but I must say that I'm not convinced by their homebrew recipes. The staff were helpful and reasonably attentive, but given that we were the only two people in the bar this isn't surprising (it was a Monday, so this is probably not indicative).

We went for a Cherry Crush and a Coconut & Lemongrass Martini. I found the Crush to be good - strong cherry flavours with the sharp edge of grapefruit underneath, but the flavour was very strong. Still, by the end of the glass I could happily have drunk another.

The martini was overpoweringly sweet and coconutty - it completely masked the gin and the lemongrass also, despite the large stick of it floating atop the drink. I couldn't have drunk half of one of these and am rather glad my companion chose it rather than I.

We stayed upstairs (being as quiet as it was I doubt the second bar was open). The music was set to a very reasonable volume, to the point where I don't even remember if there was any.

Prices are reasonable for Soho. Around 7 pounds for a martini, short or long cocktail and 9 for their specials. I'd love to come back here to sample a few more of their concoctions, but lack of a happy hour inclines me towards other venues.

Popped in to get a happy-hour cocktail before heading to Ran, just down the road. We both ended up with the same one due to a short list to choose from, but I was impressed enough that I would have happily drunk them both. Not amazing but very tasty indeed.

We had a... um... well, it had raspeberries in it and it was the one at the top of the happy hour menu, on which all the cocktails were 4.50.

The bar is one of Soho's little oddities. Very hip, it combines alchohol with art. We walked in to find ourselves confused by voices coming from the walls, which after a moment we realised to be coming from the video screens at the end of the room - they were showing a selection of short films from the Rushes Short Film Festival. An unexpected but not unwanted experience.

After a while the films were abandoned in favour of music, which seemed rather loud for an empty bar. Of course, it was early Monday evening so I wasn't expecting a crowd. A friend of mine brought me to The Diner this afternoon as she wanted French Toasts.... ooohhh French Toasts hmmmmm. I love French Toasts but I also love pancakes, especially a pancake tower American style. Fighting our way up Regent Street we approached Carnaby Street where tucked to the side you can find The Diner.

The decoration is what you'd expect a traditional American diner to look like abroad, ie. close to the real thing, but trying a little bit too hard.

My friend ordered the French Toasts and me my pancakes. Now I make French Toasts, and I love them when they're crispy from the outside and soft in the inside. Her pancakes looked nice, except that they weren't crispy from the outside and had some cinnamon which may please some but not me. As for my pancakes as you can see from the picture it was a good portion but not what I would describe as a pancake tower.

Overall we had a good experience, the food was ok, the service was fine, the pricing is good, but the music was getting too loud. The decoration is what you'd expect a traditional American diner to look like abroad, ie. close to the real thing, but trying a little bit too hard.

My friend ordered the French Toasts and me my pancakes. Now I make French Toasts, and I love them when they're crispy from the outside and soft in the inside. Her pancakes looked nice, except that they weren't crispy from the outside and had some cinnamon which may please some but not me. As for my pancakes as you can see from the picture it was a good portion but not what I would describe as a pancake tower.

Overall we had a good experience, the food was ok, the service was fine, the pricing is good, but the music was getting too loud. So I'm giving this place a "small" 3 stars.

The place is chilled out (if a bit hot inside on warmer days, oxymoron alert!). If peckish try the chips with lashings of peanut sauce and mayo. Quite a nice way to soak up some of the beers on tap. With the Euro's (2008) going on at the moment, this is usually rammed with dutch fans (from memory of euro 2004)
