First time was for the Peter Saville exhibit, showcasing the work he did for Factory Records and some Japanese design magazine among other things. They had samples of materials he used for his shoots, including the leaf from the True Faith 12" and some of the materials that inspired the early Factory sleeves.

I've also seen a Saul Bass exhibit there, showcasing the man who did most of Hitchcock's opening title sequences among other things.

They also have more off the wall exhibits, like the chair exhibit I saw, as well as an exhibit that was basically the history of video games, complete with then-current consoles available to play on.

They also have a shop where you can buy design related books, as well as merchandise related to current exhibitions. They also have a nice little cafe.I've been here a couple of times for some wonderful and varied exhibits.
The Scoop - Best New Free Venue in London? by sizemore

It's an outdoor sunken amphitheatre that can seat up to 800 Londoners, tourists and children depending on what's going on.

During summer it plays host to films, music and theatre. Best of all everything is FREE!

Since living in SE1 I've seen a bunch of movies there and it's often not the films themselves that tempt me (as I have most of them on DVD), but rather the atmosphere of sitting outside watching a movie with an eclectic mix of people.

My main reason for going though are the plays. London is an expensive city, yet here you can see unique productions without it costing you a penny (although you can of course leave a donation to the company afterwards).

Usually there are two performances a day with a production for children earlier in the day. These especially are great fun, often with audience participation and a lot of singing and dancing. Last year's Cyclops was excellent and I still rate their Treasure Island on a par with the best of Johnny Depp and Keira Knightley!

Be sure to check out the website to see what's on: http://www.morelondon.com/scoop.html

And those seats can get cold even if the sun is out so regulars and locals tend to take a cushion!Located between HMS Belfast and Tower Bridge, The Scoop is the focal point for the oddly named More London area in SE1. Funded by the Lottery, Arts Council, local government regeneration bodies and more, its a state of the art centre thats been designed with dance-stlye movement in mind. My capoeira group (KABULA) are now using the space for classes every Weds from 8-9.30pm. Its an incredible space, with a huge rooftop studio that is light and airy and gives you the impression of being on top of the city. They have lots of regular classes there and you can hire the spaces for your own groups or events. Well worth checking out. This is a brand spanking new dance studio facility in Elephant & Castle.
