Nice food but wouldn't recommend Sundays, too busy. When I complained that our order appeared to get lost I was told they had 'More customers than they could cope with'. A lesson there I think. I was walking on the riverside walkway towards the London Eye & Waterloo Bridge, when I discovered this magic Ice Cream world. Just looking at the display you can't help but stop and taste all the selection of flavours. Next door to the Market Porter, this place roasts small, fancy sausages in the evening and serves them in a roll with roasted vegetables and (optional) chilli sauce. If you get a seat by floor to ceiling window onto the Thames and grassy area outside the gallery, this is a lovely place for a spot of lunch and a bit of people watching. The coffee and pastries are OK. The lunch menu is shortish, but often has something interesting and surprising on it, bringing favours from all over. There are both 'light bites' which are big enough for lunch, or full mains. I have alway enjoyed it and never been disappointed. I booked a table here for my 27th birthday on a Sunday and was really excited as it looked beautiful and is near the fabulous borough market and fantastic cheese shop.

However quaint, beautifully, sweet, dainty and authentic as it is----the food wasn't up to much. I ordered a cheese sandwich aswell as speciality teas and cakes and it was literally a hunk of cheese slapped in a bit of mighty white cut into triangles [as if your nana had made it whilst you watched corrie repeats with her].

The cakes were very sweet and definitely traditional in look aswell as taste. i had a gooseberry and custard tart with a thick sugar glaze over it. Nice but not wonderful and rather overpriced due to surroundings.

However the service was great, the tearooms itself is very sweet and has crockery hanging from the wall, tables are laid with doilies and pretty granny things that contemporary living ignores these days.

Each tea ordered came in a different granny te pot with a silver tea stained spoon and sugar lumps!!

If I was to go again I'd probably get the cream tea as this appeared to be the best value for money, taste and authenticity. The teas were also interesting and nothing beats a pot of strong assam.

This is somewhere that appeals to virtually everyone, amano serve very "fast" food and are yet very healthy with a wide choice for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The produce is always very fresh with a dazzling array of options available. The flatbreads are beautiful and made in the ovens before your very eyes. You can create your own or be inspired by the menu of classic combinations.

Amano has yet to disappoint and offers good value for money in an area which generally serves below average food at above average prices.

We had a quick beer in Most Cafe Bar last Friday. It's a small and neat looking cafe placed exactly underneath Tower Bridge on the south side of the river Thames. A very unique location, to say the least.

A small bottle of Belgian Duvel was Â£3.20 which was a bit too expensive. I've had pints of Duvel in central london for about the same price. I can't comment on other prices because we left after the first bottle! But I can tell you this: apart from my friend and I, there was only three American tourists inside who were there for a coffee. And that was 6pm on a Friday! You be the judge!

Oh, and in case you aren't from London, the upclose view of the river Thames is second worst, next to my neighbour's ugly oily Sphynx!!! Yuk!

TheMoth is right about them there queues! Franks is a proper good old fasioned no thrills greasy spoon/sarnie bar. Run by a family of friendly Italians who can whip up a ham salad bap faster than you can say spaghetti.
Breakfast here is the forte though, any combinations of fri-up you can imagine gets gobbled up by local builders hunched over cool formica 60's tables and benches. The toast here really is something else, freshly cut bloomer bread makes for a crispy crust and fluffy white insides, AND they have just the right touch with marmite too, not too little, not too much, masterful!
