Just got some parts replaced at Barnes. They 'informally' quoted a ballpark Â£46 and said come back in half hour.
Like a schmuck i hadn't carefully checked what theyre quoting for.... like did the quote include labour and vat etc....
I went to pick the bike up and the cost had jumped to Â£75. I complained but theres not much i could do to save on the hassle.....

I'm an East London girl who rarely leaves trendier-than-thou Shoreditch but alas I was persuaded to cross that invisible boundary and head west for my good friend Karen's birthday party at All Star Lanes (I hadn't even heard of it before I received the party invitation). As soon as I stepped into the Bayswater branch, I knew it was going to be a great night. Karen had her party booked in a Old West and cowboy themed space called the Private Room- I called it paradise because the waitresses kept serving us tasty-sized canape treats and a handsome bartender keep the 'jolly juice' flowing. And the best thing about the Private Room is that we could bowl until our hearts content. Karen had an amazing time and so did we - job well done and everyone leaves slightly tipsy, well-feed and happy.

I have recently joined this women only gym as I have 2 children and it has a (rare) kids corner for me to bring my youngest who can play and still see me while I work out and the 30 min exercise routine appealed to me.

I am 27 and ashamed to say have never exercised before (I thought pushing a pram or swing was exercise)!!

My induction was great they weighed me took my blood pressure etc while I stood on the beautiful under heated floors not wanting to drag myself out to the scary looking equipment! I was shown how to use every machine correctly (they are not so scary now) and shown cardio to do in between stations to keep my heart rate up.
They have funky music (which a pre-recoded voice will tell you over it to move on to the next station so you know when to move on).

The changing rooms are fab, clean with lovely showers and hairdryers and hair straighteners free of charge. The staff are friendly and will help you if needed. I didn't appreciate how nice the gym was and how comfortable I felt there till I took my daughter swimming lessons and had to sit on the side near their sports gym and realised if I had signed up for that gym I would never go as it just didn't appeal to me, as it happens I have gone from never having done a days exercise to attending nearly everyday!

Let me be very clear about Jono's in Camberwell.

If you are looking for any sort of illegal narcotic, this is the place for you. If you are looking to either watch or be involved in a fight then Jono's is the place for you.

The friendly locals are normally off their heads on coke after a certain time, and while the attempt has been made to clean the place up by bringing in membership whilst restricting the opening hours (no longer 24 hrs) it has done little to detract the local drug dealers.

Normally the fights are tit for tat, so if you've missed a particular fight you can be sure to catch up on the follow up 7 nights later. You can also be assured that he on-lookers will give you a colourful account of the main event.

The pints are good it has to be said, and reasonably priced, but then again; are coke dealers, low lifes and single mothers really go pay over the odds for a pint of Carling ?

Moving on to the main purpose of the hall: Snooker. If you play during the day you're guaranteed a good game. The tables are slick and well kept. I don't play all that much myself, but it seems to be a popular place for non-gangster players. Just keep your time spent in Jonos between 9am and 6pm and you won't go too far wrong.

It's like anywhere really. A good group of decent folk, but the bad eggs destroy it for everyone else. Don't be alarmed if you see 2 girls pulling the hair out of one another over a man who really doesn't care too much for either of them. Don't be alarmed if you spot single mothers up at the bar with prams by their sides. They have to introduce their offspring to their dark seedy lives at some point. Better early than never they might think.

All in all, Jonos is what it is. It's a hot pot of all sorts, and if you can co-ordinate your timing so you don't have to be there at certain times you'll be ok. It just baffles me how the police have been so blind to this place. All it takes is a well organised under-cover job and they'd nail about 3 of Camberwells biggest coke dealers in one go - but hey, the police have shown themselves to be less than street wise over the years.Let me be very clear about Jono's in Camberwell.

Vie Health Clubs has helped me out a lot in terms of acheiving my fitness goals. Two years ago I couldnt even walk up two flights of stairs without feeling out of breathe... But since being a member of Vie, for nearly a year now, I have seen my fitness and motivation soar.

What Vie do which is very different from other gyms in the area is help you individually with your goals and you do not have to pay any extra as it is part of the memberships...where there are so many to choose from.

I definately would recommend it to everyone.Vie Health Clubs has helped me out a lot in terms of acheiving my fitness goals. I was very impressed with Sabai Leela. I visited Thailand a few years back and was pleased to find an authentic Thai spa just a few tube stations away in Earl's Court. Everything at the spa just worked well together. The decor and ambiance did well to transport me back to Thailand and the all Thai (and Thai trained) staff greeted me warmly for my entire visit.

I was telling my girlfriend about how my Thai Massage treatment was great value because other spas don't provide such an authentic experience. I plan to book an appointment together soon.I was very impressed with Sabai Leela. I visited Thailand a few years back and was pleased to find an authentic Thai spa just a few tube stations away in Earl's Court. Everything at the spa just worked well together. For the price this is good value - however recent poor hygiene leaves a lot to be desired. Somethings are worth paying for. The management have refused to budge and have littered the gym with yellow dusters for members to clean the equipment - go figure!!! If you're a guy want to share your bodily fluids with other guys - dripping sweat over the equipment - this is the place for you - I'm going elsewhere.For the price this is good value - however recent poor hygiene leaves a lot to be desired. Gym, swimming pool, spa pool, sauna, steam room, bar area (same food as LA Fitness in Northwood - is it the same everywhere?). Aerobics classes in mirrored hall beside the gym. Sauna and steam room unisex off the swimming pool area.

Route
Finding it - allow extra time on your first visit. It's near Northolt underground (not the Northolt main line station).

From the station, you take the nearest entrance to an industrial estate. You drive anti-clockwise on a one-way system designed to stop huge delivery lorries turning down a narrow residential street where they would annoy residents and get jammed on the corner. So if you take any route except the one designated you come to a road blocked by bollards.
Okay, back we go.

After your visit to the gym, you think you've got it. So you take your last route in, in reverse. But there's a 'no exit' sign. Back out again.

On exit from LA Fitness centre, you turn left. (We came in from the right.) Different route home, for us, via the Target roundabout.

The Target Roundabout? You've heard of it, even if you don't know it. If you've passed through it before, you remember it when you see it. I have been using Kingley St Fitness First for about 10 months now. The main selling point is its location 3 minutes from my office.

As gyms go it is quite average. It tends to be very crowded during the week, especially in the afternoons and evenings.

The equipment is adequate and generally in good working order, although be prepared for a wait for benches during busy times.

However it did take them several weeks to repair the broken water fountain - quite an inconvenience being summer.

Avoid using the lockers at all costs. Shady characters blatantly have a master key, because I had my wallet and phone stolen from my LOCKED locker twice in two weeks, in the couple of minutes I was in the shower.

Needless to say I either leave my valuables at the office, or take them in the shower if I cycle in of a morning.

I joined before they had officially opened on the back of a photo shoot done there. It was such a great gym for the first 3-4 years, then new management took over. The place was/is managed into the ground. Equipment broke and was never fixed, good staff left, changing rooms got worse and worse. There were always fire alarms forcing clients outside in towels, or worse still they would just shut without notice to members. Then last year (2008) they raised all long time members rates to the full non-corporate rate, an increase of aprox 40%. They have gone from client based to corporate money based. Awful, smelly place. Not worth the money. You end up stinking from wearing the shoddy overalls they provide and from the wet floor which is full of old paintballs and condensation. The marshall we had was really ignorant, and they don't make you feel welcome (apart from the woman on the front desk). If you want to go paintballing try somewhere else.Awful, smelly place. WORST GYM EVER!!! BEWARE THE 1ST IMPRESSION TRICKS! despite the fact the building in Cricklewood looks amazing let me tell you the truth.

the gym is being run by a bunch of amateurs between 18-25. There is cleaning staff hoovering between your legs any time of the day. dryers are repeatedly broken. sauna and whirlpool are consistently "broken" or "undergoing maintenance"...

They get as many members as they can to maximize profits. between tuesday and friday the place is like a zoo!!! you have to queue for at least 10 minutes to use a machine!!!

Any complain about the state of the place is met by an apology and that is it. there is no compensation, no gestures of good will, and this gym is basically just a money making factory.

If you don't believe what i write simply make a surprise visit on a tue/wed/thur and see the state of the place... the only way to actually enjoy this gym is to come early in the day which is impossible if you work full-time, which is the case for most members.

The pool area including the whirlpool is constantly bombarded with loud speakers with a screaming woman who does her water classes. its a stressy enviornment.

AND YOU GET ALL THIS FOR Â£65 A MONTH!!!??? WHAT A BARGAIN!!!! NOT!

if you want to freeze your account they charge you Â£20!!!!

I ordered a prioduct online from this company, 2 weeks later bno priduct so I rang them to be told I had been given a refund as my product was out of stock. I didn't have a refund. I was then told my payment was on hold, The payment came out the same day. I have now been given a refund after logging a pay pal despute with no explination given. I visited on a spa day and was really impressed with this place, gorgeous garden, free parking, really friendly staff, an amazing pool and everywhere was spotlessly clean.
