I must admit, when I first moved to the area, I was a bit dubious about this cinema. I thought it might be a bit loud, a bit raucous; you know, popcorn throwing, heinous nacho cheese smeared on the seats, and lots of mobiles being answered during the screenings. I fully admit to being a bit snooty about it. Boy, have I been proved wrong. It's now a regular Monday night hangout.

All films are Â£5.50 all day long, which must be one of London's cheapest cinemas. As well as showing the usual action-packed blockbuster fare and kids' films, they often have an independent or foreign film choice showing at a decent time. It's never too busy, and I've never had my viewing experience disturbed by morons, not once. The popcorn's a bit pricey, and I'd like to see more low-budget stuff being shown there, but those are only minor downsides. I am really fussy about where I see films and I loooove seeing stuff on the big screen (screen 1) at the Curzon Mayfair. It's a reassuringly 70s sort of space with a textural concrete interior but there are nice big seats and lots of space - and I promise that your fellow cinemagoers will not be the type to text their friends through the film or throw popcorn around!

There's also quite a nice relaxed bar where you can enjoy a bevvie beforehand. And when you step out into the night you can pretend (just for a minute) that you are heading to your flat on Berkeley Square :-)

Only caveat is that it's not worth seeing anything in any of the smaller screen here - screen 1 or nothing- the others are more of a 'home cinema' experience if you know what I mean. I have always loved bowling but have not done it enough because most of the venues are like going to Wimpy. All star lanes absolutely combines having a lovely drink with bowling and id happily go to do either or both. On top of all that the food and the restaurant itself is top quality. I wasn't keen. I mean, who really wants to see a musical featuring puppets? I went anyway, and hoped the rave reviews I had read weren't all written by the producerâ¬¦

As it turned out, Avenue Q was fantastic - hilarious, crude, offensive, risquÃ© - the type of show that makes you cry from laughter.

The Wimbledon Odeon is a great place to go with the family or friends to see the latest film, it offers great seating services and multi screens so you always have choice of what to see.
The only downside of the Odeon is the prices.
An adult ticket has now been bumped up to Â£8
A child at Â£5 and student at Â£6.70.

The Apollo Victoria Theatre is the current home of the London production of Wicked.

We went with friends last night - it was fantastic!

The theatre itself is a beautiful example of the art deco style. Inside they are in the slow process of refurbishing and retuurning it to it's former glory. For some reason in the past everything was covers in brown paint but they have already uncovered some beautiful features.

The show was OMG amazing. I was a little dubious beforehand (we were bought the tickets) however I definately left covered in more than a little Oz Dust!

I won't go into too much detail as I would hate to ruin the surprises, but is is essentially the story of the good witch Glinda and the Wicked Witch from the original Wizard Of Oz - where they were from and why one is good and the other Wicked!

The set, lighting and production values are all very good indeed. The performers very talented, and the show very entertaining. This show will run and run - last night, a normal Thursday and they still get a standing ovation!

The best cinema in London for culturally aware (i.e. non mainstream blockbuster) first run films. Having moved far enough away that it's not local, I am now aware how spoilt for a great film experience I was when I lived nearby.

They've gone through a few pricing changes over the years, obviously trying to keep pace with the market, but they still are a great venue, offer a good value and have an excellent bar/restaurant that's hopping most nights. Only complaint there is its too DAMN SMALL!

Give this place a go if you're tastes run different to Michael Bay and other action films. Also keep an eye out for special events like preview screenings of "Sunshine" with Q&A with Danny Boyle, or their Sunday morning freebie screenings.

I've been to more events at the PCC than I have movies, but it's always a funky place to be.

I've witnessed Kevin Smith doing a Q&A as well as a screening and Q&A for Depeche Mode's "101" when it came out on DVD.

For films, the place is a wonderful find in the west end. Excellent list of art house films that change daily, and if you're a member they're only Â£1.50. Try to find value like that anywhere else in the west end.

Only downside is the seats aren't sloped, so if you have a tallie ahead of you, you don't really have the benefit of being above him.

Always check to see if the film you want to see is on at the Chelsea cinema first! It is an old style cinema with one huge screen in a big auditorium.

They only used to show slightly off-beat movies but have started shamelessly cashing in on mainstream films too...if that means it can survive then I guess that's ok by me. Also, I may just stray into the odd mainstream film every now and then..ahem.

We discovered this though my Partner wanting to see the comedian Micky Flanagan and he had a very short run here. They seem to have quite a few comedians and plays, we were very impressed by upcoming events and will definately visit again. The ticketys for everything seem pretty inexpensive, its not too far from a tube, and there are loads of cool places to eat close by.

They have a bar that serves food and the drinks prices were quite good.

Micky Flanagan was appearing in a studio, not the main theatre, this made it a very intimate and entertaining gig.

Bloomsbury Bowl has an excellent range of drinks. Just because the place has a 50's style does not mean they have to extend that to bad American beers and milk shakes. Jono's is a fairly large members-only snooker/pool club on Camberwell New Rd. There's no windows or anything to look into the place, only a door where you buzz yourself in so it's quite dodgy! Rumour has it that the local criminals hide away in there from the police until the coast is clear :s .It opens until early in the morning (or is it 24 hrs?!!) so this makes it really easy if the rumour is true!

I've been there a few times whilst very drunk with a group of friends when I was still a student and none of us are actually members but they just look angry and then mumble that we should remember to bring our 3 forms of ID with us next time :D

From what I remember, it was fairly cheap. Inside it's your usual setup of pool/snooker tables, quite dark I think. What a cinema...exactly what I imagine cinema's to be like...the seats are huge, you can sit with your feet up putting you in an almost horizontal position..as far as movies go this is a great place to go....beer, wine, delicious hot and cold food all available at the back of the venue.

Downsides: It's not cheap...food and drink are in my opinion very overpriced, and you dont get much of it.

That said you go here with a view to sitting in a gigantic living room, it really is that comfy. I will definately go again...

Conway Hall is a great space for watching bands perform. It's also great, because they have no alcohol license so it is a BYO affair!

This is seriously the best cinema at this side of London. Why?

First of all they have 12 almost equally big screens. This means that you don't have to worry what screen the movie is showing, as they are all equal. The screens are about 5 to 6 meter high, which is acceptable but compensated because of the fact that the rooms aren't that big. In other words: any seat is a good seat.

Secondly, the seats are huge. Legs space is more than necessary. This makes it for me (1m85 Dutch guy) the ultimate cinema as I need some leg space. The sound is furthermore very good and I have never seen any "out of focus" projections.

Finally, you can order or reserve tickets online. There are digital terminals at the cinema if you want to skip the queue at the normal counter which also servers food. The big important thing is that the price is pretty low in comparison to some popular cinemas in the centre of London. They also accept students cards, which makes it a even more interesting price.

This is my "default" cinema to go for all those reasons. Any bad comment? Yes: they only serve M&Ms with nuts, which I really don't like.

This is probably the most expensive Odeon in the whole of UK. It is used for big premieres and has gained some fame for that reasons.

I went here to see what the fuzz was all about, and was deeply disappointed. At a price of more than twice that of my favorite cinema, the experience was horrible. Yes, the cinema is BIG, it has a lots of seats in a wide range of prices, but all and all this doesn't matter if you keep the screen the same size as most other cinemas. The screen was disappointing, I know a few cinemas that are way cheaper and offer a screen maybe twice the size.

The sound was "ok" but the seats were way to far from the screen. I didn't like this cinema and will never be going back again. This is probably the most expensive Odeon in the whole of UK. It is used for big premieres and has gained some fame for that reasons.

The BFI have done an excellent job in creating space to allow a broad examination of what can be accomplished with the moving image. The most amazing feature is the Mediatheque. Anyone can go in and browse through monthly rotations of films, TV shows, etc from the BFI's archive. For free. You can book up to two hours and they seating is comfortable in front of a wide screen TV. The mediatheque also offers free screenings of some of their treasures on the "studio" screen, which I enjoyed immensely.

They have a couple of cafes. I didn't really explore the menu at the restaurant/cafe; but did not that they have comfortable looking, colorful sofas to lounge on and free wireless.

I could easily while away a whole day here moving from space to space and indulging my inner film geek. I have never seen a place like this anywhere else. The cinema is part of the Curzon group and located between Kings Cross and Russell Square in the Brunswick Centre. The Curzon website calls this cinema an arthouse which fits the vibe and movie choice here.

The cinema is odd in that the ground floor is where you get the tickets, but you then have to go downstairs to get to the food lobby and then down some further steps to get to the screens. The décor is shabby but independent feeling which is better than the plastic sameness you get in the Odeon's and vue's but it still felt like it needed a spruce up to match the other Curzon's and independent cinemas in central.

I didn't purchase any food or drink but there was selection of more expensive varieties of crisps and soft drinks but not in super large sizes. The staff were friendly even though one usher looked like she would rather shoot herself than tell me where the toilets were.

I attended the Independent film festival and saw a new Canadian movie called Everything's gone green.

Overall it was a nice little cinema but I think my group of friends and the movie helped increase the enjoyment level rather than the cinema itself. However it is in a good location and it was nice to go somewhere new to watch a movie.

The cinema is odd in that the ground floor is where you get the tickets, but you then have to go downstairs to get to the food lobby and then down some further steps to get to the screens. The décor is shabby but independent feeling which is better than the plastic sameness you get in the Odeon's and vue's but it still felt like it needed a spruce up to match the other Curzon's and independent cinemas in central.

I didn't purchase any food or drink but there was selection of more expensive varieties of crisps and soft drinks but not in super large sizes. The staff were friendly even though one usher looked like she would rather shoot herself than tell me where the toilets were.

I attended the Independent film festival and saw a new Canadian movie called Everything's gone green.

Overall it was a nice little cinema but I think my group of friends and the movie helped increase the enjoyment level rather than the cinema itself. However it is in a good location and it was nice to go somewhere new to watch a movie.

How to describe this cinema without gushing and drolling like Homer Simpson...

a. The seats are like sofas. You can put your legs up and rest your arms on the armchair bits.
b. Lots of leg room
c. Friendly staff - and they will rush to get your ticket sorted if the move is about to start in one minute
d. Lovely toilets (go to the trocadero one which is disgusting and you'll appreciate the beauty of these). They have a tv screen in them and it looks like a five star hotel!
e. There is a nice area to sit whilst waiting for the screen to open.

The cinema is just beautiful. The ticket prices are bit steep compared to some other places but less than Odeon Leicester Sq and the rest of those in the square. It is located next door to Tesco so you can't miss it.
