Disney's Lion King - the theatrical musical journey of Simba the Lion and his clan through the plains of Serengeti - a real life wildlife park in Tanzania - is breath taking to say the least. The sets, the characters, the costumes, the singing, the music - it is simply amazing. The Lyceum Theatre has got this show on. If you are in London, and looking for some theatre to go to - do not miss this. We went to see Bon Jovi perform at Shepherds Bush Empire a few years back.

It has a very small capacity compared to their normal huge stadium concerts so the tickets were sold out practically straight away and it was amazing to be so fortunate.

The queue starts around the building hours beforehand and then once inside it is very steep towards the top at the back where we were and felt rather dizzy if you're not a fan of heights! It was not a very comfy experience as a viewer but the music made up for it. For those downstairs it must have been amazing.We went to see Bon Jovi perform at Shepherds Bush Empire a few years back.

The show I saw there was all seating which was arranged in neat rows and blocks allowing everyone good views of the stage. I know also that they have all standing events there also. There are plenty of bars available downstairs (I havenâ¬"t been upstairs) so you donâ¬"t wait long to get a drink.

Just outside it a great range of bars and restaurants so itâ¬"s very convenient for a night out.

It's great to see an independent cinema thriving in the sea of multiplexes and chains in the west end. Tickets start from about 1 pound 50 here which a heck of a lot cheaper than the Odeon round the conner. The movies always tend to be older or cult release that have finished their run in the bigger cinemas. I sometimes go here with friends when I am out in London as it is nearly always showing a good film despite only having one screen. Also the seats are great and really comfortable. After the refurbishment a few years ago this place has moved on leaps and bounds and has really good productions such has mama-mia. I found mama-mia just hilarious and the venue lends its self very well to these kinds of productions with its central location right in the middle of Leister square is great for coming in on the tube. If you want I cheap ticket here I would really advise searching the internet for cheap advance tickets. Used to be called the Millennium Dome now redeveloped and called the O2. Personally I think this has been a great choice and redevelopment for the area. Now it hosts a 20,000 seating stadium for concerts, sporting events and ice shows. A smaller, Indigo2, 2,350 seat concert hall for more intimate concerts. There is also a 11-screen Vue cinema in the complex. There's also plenty of bars and restaurants. The parking is very expensive... come by public transport so save disappointment.

All Star Lanes is a fun new venue beneath the Whiteleys shopping centre in Bayswater. I have not bowled there but went to the bar with a group of friends on a Monday night. The bar is set up in an American style with booths all around the outside which are perfect for 4-6 people. There is a good cocktail list with extensive choice which are not cheap but reasonable for the area. The wine choice is somewhat limited but good enough for a fun night with friends. Bar snacks are available but there is not much of a choice. There is also a diner-style restaurant for those who want a more substantial meal. It was very quiet when we went in but this was fairly predictable for a Monday night. The atmosphere would have been better with a few more people but it was still fun even though it was quiet. A really excellent resource for writers in the capital, London. In a good location, near to tube and bus stops the writers centre for the Soho theatre is a space for writers to come and do what they do best â¬ write! The Soho theatre has made a real long term commitment to new writing and the Writersâ¬" Centre is the hub and manifestation of this promise. New writing produced at the centre can sometimes be seen going on to the main stage of the Soho, either for a limited run, or sometimes even for an extended performance run with top actors. I went to see this with my mum for her b'day and i have to say that i thought it was wonderful. We both thouroughly enjoyed it and we had wonderful seats. We were about 4 rows from the front so we had great views. The Theatre was lovely, clean and the staff were helpful. The show was incredible and the actors/actresses were brilliant.
Lee Mead played the lead role(he won the role through the 'any dream will do' on the bbc) he was greatly suited. The show i think myself is great for any ages as children and adults aike both seemed to enjoy it.
The only thing i would say is if you intend to have a drink at the bar, come prepared with money as it is very expensive. My wife had been on at me for a while to take her to the theatre, so not being one for that sort of thing I had a look around at what was on and settled on seeing Wicked at the Apollo theatre. As this was somewhat based around the Wizard of Oz i thought how bad can it be. So I bought the tickets and off we went. I was a little apprehensive and expected to be bored. How wrong was I! From the moment it started I was blown away. This is quite simply one of the best experiences I can remember. The cast were fantastic. I came out singing the songs in my head and had to buy the soundtrack. Which was a little bit of a let down as it is the broadway cast. I wanted to hear the London cast belting out the tunes again. The story is well told and cleverly linked in to the Wizard of Oz. I would highly recommend this show. I'm by no means a theatre lover but would go and see this again in a heartbeat. Royal Albert Hall
The Hall is a very striking and recognisable building. Itâ¬"s probably the worldâ¬"s best venue for music. I have been here many times and enjoyed it very much every time
A word of advice before you buy tickets its well worth checking out the incredibly helpful seating plan on the Hall's website. Because the Hall is so vast and is spherical in shape, the seats that face the stage directly are quite far from the stage. All of the seats in the circle are also quite from the stage. If you find your self seated in the circle i would advise hiring binoculars.

The academy plays host to loads of great acts such as Franz Ferdinand and kings of Leon and the like. The sound in here just works perfectly and the acoustics are just superb. I have been to loads of great gigs here but every time something always feels just a little wrong. I now know what it is itâ¬"s the setting it just seems wrong to have a concert hall in the middle of a shopping centre and thatâ¬"s whats wrong with places like the millennium dome or the 02. A stone's throw from the joys of Upper Street and walking distance from Highbury and Islington Tube, this magical venue is made for music performance. Usually acoustic acts or indie bands, the acoustics lend themselves perfectly to such music.

The building itself is breathtakingly beautiful and the round set up of the seating contributes to an intimate feel. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

There is wheelchair access (although the ramp the bring out is fairly precarious) and an accessible loo. The bar is upstairs however and offically alcohol isnt allowed in the auditorium (it being a church and all that) so you're a bit stuck if you can't get up the stairs. As with all churches, the pews arent all that comfy so take a cushion. Despite these small grumbles, a great venue with brilliant music. See this live at the Queenâ¬"s Theatre if you want the authentic experience of this ground breaking mega musical extravaganza, based on the novel by Franceâ¬"s national poet and novelist, the great Victor Hugo. The book and lyrics are superb, with fine translation and / or adaptation from the French by Herbert Kretzmer. The orchestra are on fine form, and well led by the conductor and musical director. If you want an authentic Shakespeare experience, this is the place to go without shadow of a doubt. The Globeâ¬"s Artistic Director Dominic Dromgoole has committed to authenticity and excellence â¬ and the Globe has both of these in spades. The seating can be uncomfortable and the views restricted, but if you can stand through all 3 hours of an uncut Hamlet then you will really get a feel of what the Bard of Avonâ¬"s first audiences may have felt! Ideally you should also be drunken and smelly â¬ but this level of authenticity is probably a step to far for the Globe for the 21st century! This is always our first stop when we arrive in London by Train. The Hall is only a few minutes walk from Waterloo Station and has a large bar on the upper ground floor. The choice of drinks is not the best, but being able to sit on the huge sun terrace on a nice day, people watching, is great.

An excellent chance to get over the crush of the train and the hustle of Waterloo. A good place to plan exactly what you're going to do next. You can walk across to Trafalger Square, Leciester Square or Picadilly Circus by using the foot bridge to your left or to Theatreland by using the road bridge to your right.

On a wet day you can sit inside and watch the world go by.This is always our first stop when we arrive in London by Train. 2.One of the best musicals of all time, if not the best. Highest grossing entertainment franchise in the world ever. An excellent score, book and lyrics â¬ but when I went in 2006 I felt the cast was a slight let down. After listening to the golden voice of Michael Crawford (who originally played the Phantom) on the Original Cast Recording â¬ a must buy for any fan of the show â¬ I was a little disappointed with the actor who was playing the Phantom. He had very little stage presence, and not the outstanding voice I was expecting. He was good, but not great. However, the rest of the cast were good, although again Raoul did not quite match up to the supreme performance offered by Steve Barton on the Original Cast Recording. However, itâ¬"s not fair to compare a new cast to the definitive original â¬ if youâ¬"ve never seen or heard the show before you will absolutely love it! On a practical note, make sure to avoid the very first row or two, as you will be craning your neck through the entire show â¬ one seat right in the middle of the first row also has obstruction from the conductorâ¬"s head! People at Ticketmaster etc will lie and say these seats are fine. Fantastic venue - the best theatre in the UK bar none.

The Royal National Theatre presents world class theatre, starring the best performers of our age in plays by the best playwrights of all time â¬ from greats such as the cerebral William Shakespeare and the gory John Webster to little known but equally proficient dramatists such as August Strindberg (for example in a recent adaptation of his A Dream Play, by Caryll Churchill).

The National Theatre also offers a fantastic scheme for young people and students. Take a look at the Entry Pass scheme for Â£5 tickets to some of the Nationalâ¬"s best shows, in some of the best seats in the house. The IMAX is simply huge the biggest screen in London. The IMAX shows films in 3d as well as standard films but either way it is the ultimate in the cinema experience. The IMAX is currently showing the Dark Knight which is well worth a look at. The IMAX in London is run by the BFI (British Film Institute ) a charitable organisation that celebrates film. The IMAX achieves great quality by have film over twice the size of standard film and extremely powerful speakers.
