Looking at it the first time I went I've got to admit I was a little scared, but once inside the people were friendly and quick to serve me, the prices are great, the musics lots of fun. Drinks were really good price.... Â£3.50 fpr a cocktail at happy hour, can't go wrong for that. Quite simply, Kitts employs a doorman/bouncer who is dangerous, so this club is not quite what it would like us to believe it is. It isn't safe and it isn't friendly.

Its Sloane Square location might lead you to believe that it caters for a more classy clientele - but just one visit and you will see it's just as sleazy as a 1980's underworld crime den from a Martina Cole novel.

I like clubs and go out a lot, but my advice is: Don't demean yourself by waiting outside this one. Even though you're on a 'guest list' and the club's fairly empty - you'll have to wait to be scrutinised....even though you've had a brilliant night out to this point, at least one of your friends will be left feeling disappointed and devalued, and be prevented from entering (It doesn't matter if he is sober and dedicates his life to saving people during the day) .....even though under the 1975 sex discrimination act, a club has to charge the same to both men and women, the club will let women go in free but make the men pay Â£20.

So here's what happened to me on Friday:

The club closed and I went to the loo - as you do. This bouncer came by within about 30 seconds, shouting and asking me to get out. I said 'ok, just a second' but he came back to the door, seconds later (when I was out the cubicle), was extremely aggressive and then barely let me wash my hands. I asked him why he was being so aggressive towards me only when there were still so many people in the club. He just carried on shouting saying: 'They are the owners, i don't care just leave'. My husband outside the loo told him calmly that there was no need to be so harsh as we were obviously leaving and then went to wait for me outside while i was putting on my coat. Neither of us was drunk, rude or looking for a fight.

But get this!!! The doorman then pushed himself in my personal space as I was trying to put my coat on, told me to get out and shoved me!!! - This was really scary as my husband was already outside, and I had not expected violence. I am a local resident and can promise that I wasn't being slow, or an out of control aggressive drunk - I was just out late because I work late. I asked him politely and calmly why he was being so mean to me (no swearing at all!) and for a reason as to why he couldn't let me put my coat on before going outside - but I just got another shove. He then started to 'threaten' to lock the door of the club and lock me in!?? I got quite a bit scared of the unpredictable situation then.

Then...bizarrely a strange girl who witnessed the whole thing and seemed to know the bouncer's 'ways' came to my rescue and tried to say that maybe the guy was just tired and wanted to go home and urged me to leave. I left calmly, but shaken and confused about being treated this way for no reason whatsoever.

I paid 60Â£ for a concert with Ginger Baker and special guests. I got 50 minutes of music and one special guest. We saw the bands set list and it matched the numbers played, so The Jazz CafÃ© must have known that this was a minor gig, and still they demand 60Â£ entrance. Jazz CafÃ© could have arranged additional music or lowered the price. The band didn't even give the audience a chance for an encore as they left stage without a: Thank you and goodnight. This experince borders a scam, and I can't recommend this place to anybody! What a disappointment, the club was very small and very crowded, we couldnâ¬"t even see the bar when we walked down to the dance floor it was so small.

The door staff we not friendly quite cocky and rude, and the music was the worse I have ever heard, I am sure Pete Tong would be quite ashamed to think he has put his name to a sound system that plays such atrocious music, who ever the DJ was I donâ¬"t know but I think I know why he is in a sort of cage that no one can get to him!!..

I am sure there are much better places to go to; luckily I didnâ¬"t pay to get in as I was kindly invited to a birthday party there.

BOTTOM LINE IS DONâ¬"T BOTHER UNLESS YOU LIKE MUSIC YOU CANâ¬"T DANCE TO, WHERE THE BEAT CHANGES EVERY 3 MINUTES! I LIKE HOUSE MUSIC LIKE HED KANDI ETC, THIS WAS PURE CHEESE.

Me and some friends went to this club 2 weeks ago and 2 lads were spiked and do not remember being there and then found that nearly Â£10K (TEN THOUSAND POUNDS) had been stolen from their bank account for fake Champage and entertainment they have not even received. Avoid this place at all costs, on informing the Police we found that the club is under investigation, so hopefully will be closed soon and the thieves locked up for stealing money. I went to Shoreditch House last night for a literary event. We were only allowed to go to the Biscuit Tin room on the 4th floor but I managed to get to the rooftop to check the amazing views of the City and that famous swimming pool!

Thursday nights are pretty much indie nights at moonlighting, where I was given a horrifically dirty look for suggesting they play basshunter when drunk. However the drinks are very cheap and if you like that sort of music then the music is very good. There is unusual seating available with comfy sort of sofas around certain corners and in alcoves which are great for congregating but the dacefloor is too small. The dark mirrored slightly grotty interior suits this night perfectly and gives the club a great atmosphere. This is slightly tainted by the fact that they confiscate chewing gum and wont let you sit on the little tables which reminds you that this is actually a real club in its own right "moonlighting" which is a touch more r n b than candy box. I've gambled in 100's of places in many countries and I have never lost so consistently and in such a incredible coincidental way. If i got 21 the dealer got a natural, If i was doubled down on 20 she got 21 etc. OK so it happens but at least 30 hands in a row for me and my friend. Its just not consistent with my experience of the past 40 years in other casinos including Monte Carlo, Las Vegas, Atlantic City, Aruba, Puerto Rico, Nassau, Paradise Island, Antigua and far too many to even remember. Below is the letter I sent to their reservations manager:

I am very upset about what transpired last night. I find it hard to believe that your club, on the basis of dress, decided to turn away my guests and cancel my booking. This was a â¬Sone offâ¬ occasion for me â¬ my 30th birthday. As you know, Iâ¬"d been planning it for weeks. I chose Alto as my celebration venue due to xxxxâ¬"s recommendation â¬ sheâ¬"s a good friend and has looked after me since her dayâ¬"s at xxxx; and due to the discussion you and I had when I came a few weeks back â¬ I thought the place was extremely well designed and of course, you did a great job of convincing me that Alto was the place for me.

Given that this was a milestone occasion for me, I wanted to ensure that I would be celebrating with my closest family and friends. These are all people I respect and admire. To give you a small indication of the efforts made, guests came from as far as Coventry and Essex, some even had to make special arrangements just to be there e.g. arrange babysitters, etc. I had a good cross-section of guests from varying backgrounds but all the type of people I would trust alone in my home â¬ such is their calibre.

Now I donâ¬"t expect this to resonate with your General Manager simply due the nature of his job but I will say that for him to cancel such a big arrangement at the last minute and without any consultation with me (the Customer) is not only extremely rude but simply, bad business practice. It seems these days, whenever a new club pops up in London they aim to extol a shallow veneer of exclusivity and do so with a superficial door policy that aims to disrespect and in cases such as mine, humiliate people. Thatâ¬"s a very bad model upon which to base your business.

You put a major dent in my evening and I certainly will not be recommending Alto or any of iâ¬"s staff to anyone in future.

I went here instead of String fellows at the insistence of a new business acquaintance of mine who knows the patron. The first part of the evening was pleasant and then I was asked if I wanted a 'Private Booth' double dance.... let's just say I'll never anywhere other than the Windmill; the girls were unbelievably attractive, I still have their dance fresh in my mind!
