I've been to Frieda three times already since 2 months! It is definitely a bar I would recommend, as the atmosphere is without comparison! The barmen there and the customers all seem to know eachother, and it was not long before I become one of their friend.
This is great, as it is harder and harder to find a place where you are not being considered as an anonymous!
To be honnest, last time I went there was just to grab a scarf I had forgotten the previous week end, I had just poped in to grab it, and ended up staying at Frieda B all the eveningI've been to Frieda three times already since 2 months! We had a Saturday lunch at the Anchor & Hope. As they don't take bookings (apart from for Sunday lunch), we arrived at 12pm and queued up, waiting for the dining room to open. Not long after we were seated in the middle of the room, making the small space even more cramped with our pram.

The three of us couldn't decide between all the good sounding menu options, so decided to share several starters, instead of ordering individual main courses. We had the Salt Beef Broth with parsley & dumplings (deemed by my companions to be the best soup of the year); the Potato, Queen Scallop & Mussel salad; the Beetroot, Horseradish & Watercress salad; the Bresaola, Rocket & Lemon; and the Deep Fried Rabbit with Radish & Rouille. All very enjoyable - great flavours and attractive presentation.

We were full but desserts sounded too good to miss. We had the Queen of Puddings; the Flourless Chocolate Cake; and some Pecan Praline ice cream (evil) and Ale ice cream (better than it sounds). Again, all were so delicious. The chocolate cake was very rich though and even with three of us eating we couldn't finish it.

Service was relaxed and friendly throughout our meal, and the atmosphere was great, though noise levels didn't make for easy conversation.We had a Saturday lunch at the Anchor & Hope. I ate here for lunch today - it's just round the corner from my florist shop.

The food was delicious. A tried the steak sandwich with chips which was hearty, filling and perfectly cooked.

The pub is really nice but it was a little on the quiet side. It only opened recently so it's probably still got to catch on with the locals.

I reckon it will become a real corner-stone pub in a few months once the locals discover it.

Went to this bar a few weeks ago - all I can say is DON'T GO HERE unless you want a rubbish night. The club was full of thugs and the bouncers treat all customers like thugs. One of the better bars in London this side of town. Well stocked, a huge range of bourbons and whiskeys and great food. The music is more modern blues with the Sunday Blues Jam sessions being absolutely fantastic. Recommended.One of the better bars in London this side of town. This was my local for years - I loved it! A nice big pub, all good. New owners or new management mean the food quality has really gone down the hill - dreadful food now. And the last few times I have been there, there has been no soap in the women's bathroom, so I dread to imagine the female staff pulling pints and cooking food with unclean hands... yuck. One time no soap, OK, that's just bad luck. But four times? That's poor managment. It's Soho, so easy to find another pub nearby - avoid this one!This was my local for years - I loved it! Went here after seeing some good stuff online, and was very impressed. It's quite a big building, but split into the bar, the restauranty (big tables) bit, and the pool room upstairs. The staff and food were of the highest quality. Probably the best gastropub evening I've had in London. Unfriendly, rude barman works here. Pours the worst beers in london with massive heads. Refuses to correct the head in snob like fashion. Went there 13th nov, 2009 night. Two guys working behind the bar are typical london snobs. They have no sense of pub tradition or etiquette.Horrible bar attitude, disgusting service. LOVE the Market Porter. Always buzzing, great sleection of drinks and a fab atmosphere. It is really busy all the time (not to its detriment) so sometimes it can take a few minutes to get served, but it doesn't detract at all. Highly recommended.LOVE the Market Porter. This is a cool little place. It has quite an intimate feel without being to invasive, almost like being in someone's living room with a bunch of mates. Lots of music, often bands and live jazz on. Nice food. Oh and I think they have board games (!)

A great place to go for a salt-of-the-earth-sunday-lunch. I used to qork in the area a few years ago and went sometimes. Then it was a Thai place and, although nice, was a little dingey. It's recently been taken over by new owners and revamped and it is wonderful! Can't recommend the place more: friendly atmosphere without being too invasive, jukebox, live music, good beer! I just came here for a bottle of wine with a friend and it is the perfect find when you are stressed out with the noise and tourists up and down charing cross road. It's such a relief to land here and find a cosy corner for a nice chat.

We went there for a girlie lunch today as it's near our workplace and have always wanted to go. They have quite a few food specials going on (pizza and burgers 2for1). The burgers (especially the chips) was really good and the portions big. Our waiter was very rushed and cleared our table while one girl was still eating. We all found him very rude with no "table-side" manners. Although he was the only waiter I could see, it wasn't busy at all (maybe 4 other tables, and by the time we were done it was empty again) so I don't understand what the rush was about.
