A well-kept secret venue in central London. This basement venue is clean, safe and user-friendly.
Ghanaian Chef Louis offers a superb menu for snacking and general dining.
Mine Host, Cliff Allen, is usually present to oversee the excellent, reasonably-priced wine list; there are a few good beers for the non-oenophiles.
Situated almost equidistantly from Covent garden, Leicester Square and Tottenham Court road tube stations it's well worth a wander.

An off-track gem. Just around the corner from the excellent SohoJapan, the Green Man offers a superb range of ciders and beer, all well kept, including the very dangerous Green Man Special. Drink by the half!

Thursdays sees a regular DJ lining up a fine selection of modern indie & rock. If it gets too loud inside, try the tables outside or the upstairs room (which can be hired out with a Â£300 bar bill minimum). The upstairs room is very private and sports its own jukebox and although it doesn't have a bar has some very, very comfortable seating.

The food is always good and given the price of some gastropubs definitely on the reasonably-priced side. Excellent burgers.

Excellent little local. Part of a chain but feels more like an independent. Experienced manager and happy team behind the bar. Easily overlooked among the bigger pubs in Northcote Road but the only one that really appeals to grown-ups. Has a covered outside space for smokers and manages to show rugby AND football when necessary, has a good quiz one night in the week. When my friends took me to the newly opened Circle Bar in Cockfosters, (opposite the tube station) I was overawed by the transformation of the place that I knew as Felliniâ¬"s restaurant. I gasped as I entered this uber-stylish, sexy venue, which is almost as intoxicating as the amazing selection of gorgeous cocktails it serves. A fun and friendly crowd partied on the dance floor until the small hours to the latest soulful, funky house tunes and smooth R&B. The staff were just as charming and courteous as crowd The Circle attracts â¬ thereâ¬"s certainly no room for any negative attitude in this place! The reasonably priced drinks could certainly rival any West End night spots, in fact the whole place is certainly a taste of the West End without all the laborious effort required of trekking up there. Well done to the team at The Circle, I canâ¬"t wait to return.

Wow... since I last went here so much has changed!
All for the better.
At first I was hesitant, having had a medium service before.
But I was never more surprised, we were welcomed by a lovely hostess who came by every so often to see how we were doing.
The food has definitely improved and the service was impeccable. Speed, cleanliness and quality. Everything I need in a fabulous night out!!

Nice venue, good selection of beers, dj's on fridays and weekends playing a good selection of music, live bands / acoustic nights in the week .....all in all well worth a venture and a hidden gem.
Check it out there is always loads going on.

Want to impress someone? Then V42's your place.

Yes it's expensive, full of liggers on expense accounts and has the atmosphere of a corporate office but that pales into insignificance the moment you peer out of the glass.

If you pick the end of the day when the light is fading from a hazy sunshine through that glorious transition period from day into early evening and finally night you get 3 experiences in one.

Once you get used to the sheer height of the place (the lift covers 42 floors in 20 seconds or so...) and that indefinable feeling of being slightly unsettled and heady then you can enjoy the panoramic view of London and the horizon for as far as you can see.

You have to book well in advance and you get your own amount of space at the window, which depends on the size of your party. Drinks are mainly Champagne, with Wine & Cocktails available and snacks such as peanuts and olives. Service is attentive and the bill attention grabbing !

This pub's a bit on the expensive side but nice enough - on the inside. Unfortunately a VERY nasty experience with the doormen when I'd left but my girlfriend was still inside looking for me. On refusing to let me in, they grab me and ripped my Â£120 coat to shreds. The management didnt want to know and obviously do not care even with a formal complaint - not a place I'll ever be visiting again.

If you want a drink in a trad pub. Good.

Thai food might also be good.

I just had a pint of London Pride, which was nice and a homemade rump burger.

Not sure what was going on there, but it tasted like someone had spilled either MSG or cumin into the pot. Maybe both.

It's the first burger I've failed to eat.

Not overtly horrible, just too strong, whatever it was.

Don't get me wrong though, beer was good, pub was nice.

I went along to Annies bar for the launch, but as I arrived at about 7.30, you could still smell the paint drying on the wall, and the builders were carry furniture in.

From what I did see of the finished bar, I have to say the decor, was lovely, and the bar seemed out of place, it would have been better suited in Hampstead, so this could be a great place for Kentish town, in terms of service I cant fairly comment as I didnt stay long enough for the opening to the public

I wondered around looking for refreshments or at least a drink, I was directed to the door, where a girl had some bottles of champagne, but no glasses to drink from them. At this point id lost my will to stay longer, and promptly left.

I've been drinking here for over 10 years. It's been through many changes in the last 2 years and they're mostly for the better. It used to get packed to the rafters and rather uncomfortable as you couldn't even move, let alone dance till 1am or get served. Nowadays they're a lot more selective about who they let in and it doesn't get as crowded. It's definitely one of the cheapest places to drink in the area and the DJ plays some fabulous music to get everyone's feet tapping and now the bar is operating more smoothly as there are millions of people screaming to get served. Their cocktails are great and very reasonably priced and I've always found the bar staff to be efficient as long as you're polite to them. I'd even go as far as to say the bar staff are the most cheerful in Ealing!

The door staff are polite and friendly and enforce the ID rule with everyone, unless they're regulars - once they get to know you, they don't bother asking for ID.

My only complaint about this place is that the toilets need repairing - there are 3 ladies toilets and there's often 2 of them out of order at the same time which can be a nightmare at the weekend! Thursday nights are fabulous here with excellent DJs playing old skool soul - you really can't go wrong with the music and atmosphere on Thursdays - nice enough dining, although somewhat over-priced for what you get and for where you are (after all, this is only Kingsbury) - good cocktails (again rather pricey) and plenty of staff.

Now on Fridays and Saturdays, they're too pretentious for their own good. You might have been there the day before for your 30th or 40th birthday party and spent a fortune but come Friday night they want to see ID. Even if you've booked a birthday party and come down with a dozen friends and even if you clearly look over 30 or 40 - their door policy is 21 for ladies and 23 for gents. Mind you, if you get there late enough, say about midnight, they start charging a tenner at the door and suddenly they don't seem to care about asking for ID - they now just want your money and will let you in no matter how young you look! Double standards eh? Take it from me, the crowd and vibe might be good but it's rather disappointing if you can't get in because you haven't carried ID for over a decade! It used to be cheap and cheerful; now it's neither cheap nor cheerful.

They closed earlier this year (2008) for refurbishment and reopened looking basically as tatty as it was before with a few drapes added to make it look a bit different! Now they even change the drinks prices during the evening to suit themselves!

The owners are a couple (Frank and Sylvia De Souza?) - he collects money at the door and their door prices change with the wind and she (the "barracuda" of my title) works the bar. When I say "works" she basically stands around ordering the staff around like they're something nasty on the bottom of her shoe and she treats the customers even worse.

The last few times I've been there, there have hardly been any customers in there (maybe 12-15 people in total); they're always short-staffed (staff regularly walk out because the woman owner treats them so poorly) and customers have to wait so long to get served that they get bored and walk out, going to Priory a few doors away or The Boulevard around the corner.

I have been going there for well over a decade but my visits there are down to less than once in 6 months now - a big thumbs down from me. Maybe I'll stop going there full stop. They seem to think they can run a business without any customers as they're just too rude to the few they have left!

Oh and the DJ has been there for years and he just plays the same records now as he has been doing for over 10 years! Give the man a budget to buy some new tracks!

For someone who wants to check out a more posh/professional side of London, the Knight's Templar provides you with the legal crowd and occassional students from King's College since their library is just opposite to the pub.

The food is good - as usual with all the WSP chains, and their lunch curry is fantasy - good for value as well. About Â£7-8 for lunch with drinks included. Perfect for someone who wants to escape the tourists and venture into somewhere local. A friend of mine brought me to The Diner this afternoon as she wanted French Toasts.... ooohhh French Toasts hmmmmm. I love French Toasts but I also love pancakes, especially a pancake tower American style. Fighting our way up Regent Street we approached Carnaby Street where tucked to the side you can find The Diner.

The decoration is what you'd expect a traditional American diner to look like abroad, ie. close to the real thing, but trying a little bit too hard.

My friend ordered the French Toasts and me my pancakes. Now I make French Toasts, and I love them when they're crispy from the outside and soft in the inside. Her pancakes looked nice, except that they weren't crispy from the outside and had some cinnamon which may please some but not me. As for my pancakes as you can see from the picture it was a good portion but not what I would describe as a pancake tower.

Overall we had a good experience, the food was ok, the service was fine, the pricing is good, but the music was getting too loud. This pub has newly opened, and is fast becoming the place to be seen in Shepherd's Bush.
The interior is amazing..and the food great(try the triple cooked chips..)They have an extensive wine list, and the wine guy really knows his stuff. The beer is excellent, and if you're into cocktails, they do a 'mean' whisky sour.
Shepherd's Bush REALLY needed this.

The Birdcage is a beautiful pub, more in keeping with trendy Stoke Newington than tired Stamford Hill. But it's not too posh - still maintains a friendy and local feel. It's gorgeously decked out in wood and stone, with a large bar in the centre. I especially recommend it for a lazy Sunday with the papers, followed by their Sunday Roast, which is a rare treat - tasty, well cooked and generous slices of meat, with delicious fresh vegetables and roasties.
