Le Bateau - Indie, young and hip by oxymore

A little hard to find, Le Bateau is situated next to Society in the middle of Seel Street, near Paradise/Hanover Street. It takes a little finding and looks more like an old house than a club.

Â£3 entry with NUS/before 11.30pm or Â£4 without/later. Drinks are reasonably priced. Le Bateau caters for the majority of new indie lovers. Previously, the music was diverse with a mix of new and old indie. Now, it seeems that I have lost touch with the new indie genres. A hit with most students and youngsters, there are few oldies in the crowd I'm afraid.

There are 2 floors and a bar on each floor. The dancefloor on the top floor is often deafening if you stand near the speakers.

Toilets lack toilet paper and leak water but are better than the Krazyhouse!
Cloakroom is only 70p, a bargain compared to some.

Unmissable, The Krazyhouse is colourfully painted on the bottom of Wood Street. Once inside, the music makes you feel like you're back in the 1990s with popular tunes that make you reminisce of your youth. However, there is generally taste to suit all.

I don't think there are many clubs in Liverpoool which are bigger than the Krazyhouse aka K/Kray. Predominately a rock club, K1 is your headbanging metal rock scene, K2 on the 2nd floor gives you supposedly indie/emo/nu-wave, usually a mixture of new and old. K3 on the 3rd floor is your boost of cheese and queeze. Bon Jovi, Take That, Dirty Dancing and Grease Lightning galore. Most people should be able to have a decent time at the K.

As it has nights on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, I believe the music varies on floor to floor so some of these genres may swap depending on the day. There are also monthly all-nighters where you can stay until 5 or 6am if you're that hardcore!

A rather big variety in age from the students to the really old men, generally leaning on the weird side. The place is also very dark and the floor is sticky. Be careful on what you sit on, you can't see what's on the floor! There is also a strange musty smell, the place probably isn't often ventilated.

Drinks are reasonably priced, often with 241 offers although not sure if these still run nowadays. Entrance is Â£2 if you're early, up to Â£4/5 after midnight, and around Â£5 for an allnighter.

One other thing, the toilets are rank. There is often a flood of water all over the floor, the toilets leak, most of them have broken seats, and it's all a pretty grotty experience. I hear the men have it worse though. You get used to it, or learn to hold..

Overall, the Kray is often a decent night out for those that want alternative music. There isn't much choice in Liverpool. I often bounce from the K to Le Bateau and back. The only difference being Le Bateau seems to be more catered for the nu-indie wave scene of youngsters and the K for the older.. Don't come to this place too many times in a row as it will get repetitive. The bad points about this bar are that is expensive to get in (Â£5 on a weekend) and there are massive massive queues on the weekend. However, what makes this the best music venue in Liverpool is the three floors of different music, cheesy pop (1st floor), hip hop (2nd floor) and club music (3rd floor), why go anywhere else in the city?? In the week, usually only the downstairs is open. Plenty of bars throughout the venue. can get crowded and sometimes busy but overall its a great nightout ! students and locals love it! Been once - never again!! I think the fact I was sober really didn't help the experience. You stick to the carpet, the walls drip with sweat and there is an aroma of vomit. Awful place! It is however really popular with students, I'm assuming most of them are well on their merry way before they go in. In its defence, it does play good cheesy music, but so does Walkabout without dripping walls!! Drinks are cheap and it is always busy in there. It is slightly out of town, so a 5 min walk from concert square. Iâ¬"d really avoid! If you want a good night out head to concert square!Been once - never again!! If you love cheesy music from the 70's, 80's, 90's and now this is the place for you! Coloured dancefloor, poles and disco balls make up the interior, with pictures of famous bands on the walls. The DJ is open to requests and plays some great tunes you'll probably have forgotten about( such as 5, or the vengaboys!)
Free through the week, Â£2 on a weekend ( but you get a card to get you in to Reflex or Flares for free!)
Drinks are cheap, especially before 11pm! Have only been to Garlands for students night, and they are quite decent. Not as good as Medication or Mischief, but depends what type of music youâ¬"re into. Defo one for the more trendy here! The drinks are cheap during the week, but on a weekend when itâ¬"s about Â£6 to get in the prices go right up!
Great if you like dance music, there is an upstairs room with stages, a downstairs room with a few raised platforms to dance on and a hidden room where you can sit and relax. Itâ¬"s huge and always packed, and has a good atmosphere. Meant to be a gay bar but I donâ¬"t think many people in there are gay! The bars are huge, so no huge queues, and thereâ¬"s a cloakroom if you need one.

Rating: 4.00Shorrocks Hill country Club, affectionatly called Shorrocks, is Formbys one and only nightclub and for that we should all be grateful. I think everyone has a love hate relationship with it, after all, when your growing up there's not much choice. So yes. It's cheesy, full of drunken lads and bad music but you love it, because that is all you can do.

It also has a health and fitness club, which was always too expensive for my tastes, a restaurnat, which i've never been to and a banqueting suite that i've never seen, although there have been a lot of weddings there, as there's a quaint little church not fifty metres from it.

Its right on the outskirts of formby next to the road down to the beach and the forests.

Leo's has the best location of the four casinos in liverpool, rigt on the edge of the mersey. The architecture makes the most of the location with huge windows framing the panoramic view. The casino itself is pretty small with no more than twenty tables, with the usual colection of blackjack, poker and roulettte. Nothing is for free (unike stableys/vegas casinos) but you cna get a hot snadwhich or a coffee for a quid! Live poekr tournament every monday, wednesday and friday and a realtivly well priced restaurnant on the top floor. You no longer need to pay a Â£1 if you go out for a cig, so you can go out as many times as you like.

I recommend that you bring your own cigarettes as they are Â£7.50 behind the bar for a pack of 20.

They also sell lollypops (20p), glow sticks (Â£1) and theres a boxing machine (50p) at the back of the club.

Fudge anit exaclty the poshest place in liverpool, but nobody care if you spil your drink and jump around like a maniac, its just all round good fun where you can get pissed with your mates.
