This place must get the title for best value for money. For what you pay the food is delicious! And it really is cheap.

If you're in a rush it's great to run in and grab your food, whereas if you have more time on your hands The Mermaid is also a great place to sit in and enjoy not just the food but the service. My friend used to work here and I must say, the service is fantastic. If you're ever in the area you'd be kicking yourself not to call in here.

Friendly staff, quick service, great grub - I think this is my favourite Fish n Chip shop!

Situated on the corner of Woodside Avenue and the busy Kirstall Road, this local fish and chip shop in my opinion serves some of the finest fish and chip takeaway food in Leeds at a reasonable and respectable price.
In addition to the traditional offers, there is also a takeaway breakfast and lunchtime menu.

Open throughout the week until nine o'clock and only until two o'clock on saturday (closed on sunday).

This place is really convenient if you live in Burley or Kirkstall and are craving a takeaway or just a small portion of chips.

It's Pizza Express: a cut above Pizza Hut and fairly fast food made fairly respectable. To be honest, I found it with a little difficulty, as it's rather tucked away, although this wasn't a major problem. The location is good once you're used to it, however, as it's conveniently close to the railway station, and sufficiently hidden to ensure that you can usually get a table without any problems.

The restaurant is fairly smart and clean, and the food is typical Pizza Express fare - for some reason this means that most of the food is pizza. What a great store. Loads of variety but don't expect big name brands. Their special offers on electrical items are usually much cheaper than the big stores. My real reason for going there is the variety and value of their cooked meats but there is so much that's cheaper that I always buy much more than just meat. What you would usually buy as a treat can be an every week thing from Aldi (duck for only Â£3.69). And don't think that it will taste cheap, it's good quality food. Easily as good as Mark and Spencer. My son actually waits for me to get back to help unpack bags to see what goodies I've bought.
The shop is clean and tidy and the staff are friendly and helpful. It's a decent enough venue given that the parking is large and free, and the shop itself is large and clean.

Obviously, the vast majority of the food Iceland sells is frozen so you really do have to like frozen food- their choice of fresh is a bit rubbish really, and somewhat overpriced compared to Netto next door.

I find that some of their foods are overly greasy when cooked and very salty. I would say that their food is OK for a cheap treat but I don't think anyone should live off it! I would struggle to do a week's shop here for sure.

Early evenings are the best time to go, they offer a deal where you get a starter and main (chosen from basically the whole menu) for about Â£7.50.

Vegetarian friendly as well, the meat can be replaced with tofu for no extra charge (vegans will be out of luck as thai food relies on fish sauce).

Personally I am not keen on this Morrisons. It is far too small and busy and very, very outdated (it's like the 70s...). Parking is ridiculous - you have to spend a minimum of Â£10 just to park there, if you nip in for milk & bread you have to make it up to a tenner just to get out of the car park - this is not acceptable when you can park for free for as long as you like at the Morrisons on Kirkstall road (there is a 30 minute max stay for a Â£10 spend so you are not only buying stuff you don't really need you have to rush too!!)

The offers are always off the shelves as it is the closest supermarket to the student area so if you want an item and it happens to be on BOGOF you can't buy it.

The staff are fairly rude and the lack of space means everyone walks into everyone.

Virgin Active just off city centre is a pretty good gym- it has no complaints here!

Prices are about average but they do run promotions and offers. Pool is a good size as is the gym, the place is quite large and there is never much of a wait for the machines.

Staff can be a little pushy at times especially with upselling but they are very helpful and know what they are doing in terms of the machines and stuff.

Regular classes are run ie spinning, yoga etc which are fun to do and a great way of meeting people.

Abu Bakar is located just next to the estate agents I rent my house from so it has proved useful to me many times. They have a wide selection of produce available and the service is always very quick and the staff are nice and friendly. The prices are all quite good as well. This isn't the kind of supermarket I would do my weekly shopping at but if i am passing by and need some bits and bats I will alawys pop in get a few thigs.

For me though the best thing about Abu Bakar Supermarket is the wide selection of Rubicon drinks the have it is the only place I have found that sells GuanaBanana the best flavour so try it.Abu Bakar is located just next to the estate agents I rent my house from so it has proved useful to me many times. India, what can I say, as far away from Indian cusine as a Cornish pasty. Upon arrival you instantly feel transported to another world, a cold, clinical, sombre environment. From its UV lighting to its "minimalist" white interior, it is more like a morgue than a restaurant. There is not a trace of the indian culture that provides its name.

Despite being the only group in the restaurant, and there being a ratio of at least memebers of staff per member of our party, service suprisingly slow.

Once our food finally graced our "city sheek" table, it was hardly worth the wait. To be kind it lacked flavour of any Indian authenticity, in no respect did it live up to its name. It was disapointingly overpriced, probably due to the fact that the extravagant furnishings have to be paid for.

This Toby Carvery (past Kirkstall Rd, in Horsforth, Leeds) is one of the nicest carveries in the area. The interior is very traditional with toby jugs, comfy seats and lots of oak.

The staff are very friendly (especially the carver!) and the atmosphere is very warm, friendly and welcome.

The food is very nice- there's a choice of gammon, beef or turkey, with a big Yorkshire pudding, all the veg you can eat and plenty of gravy / sauces. It's a true Yorkshire feast and you always leave with a very full tummy!

The prices are brilliant and the biggest draw of the carvery. Drinks are usual prices, not too expensive, and midweek the carvery is Â£5. On the weekend it's Â£8. It's much cheaper than other pubs for food.

Rating: 2.00I'm a massive fan of pizza and Domino pizza's don't disappoint in the taste and flavour stakes with pizza's like the wonderful Texas BBQ and even better is the fact you can build your own from scratch which is a fab idea. Rating: 3.00This recently refurbished McDonalds in Leeds city centre is close to some of Leeds main shops and also some of the best night life spots in Leeds. Decorated in bright funky colours with modern seating this restaurant is very up to date. Offering a wide variety of meal options from salads to burgers. There is a fast lane which is open throughout the day. On weekends the restaurant is open untill 4am which means if you have late night munchies after a night out you can go grab something to eat. Rating: 4.00This used to be a great little curry house just off Albert Square, in Yeadon, close to the local pubs and shops,however it is no longer open. They used to work as both a restaurant and a takeaway and many a weekend were spent ordering food from here. The staff were kind and friendly and even got me a christmas present one year. Great affordable and tasty food. Their chicken karahi murgh was absolutely delicious and I have never found a restaurant that has cooked this dish to the same standard since. I do not like to give a bad review. However, Nicky Clarke's attitude to customer service is appalling. Whilst stylists are friendly they are too rushed to be able to offer a decent service with clients booked in one after the other without space for proper consultation or styling time. This means that time is wasted as a result of a lack of communication between client and hairdresser.

Which is a shame as i really want to like Nicky Clarke's. It is a new salon, there are some very skilled professionals here, its just a shame that there is not enough time to manage clients properly. the pricing is also very expensive for the lack of personal service, and often stylists find themselves double booked with appointments and consultations overlapping.
