Fancy building, some great shows, it's rather good.

It's situated behind the market, beneath the shadow of 'the Kremlin', and is totally modern and clean inside. There's plenty of legroom for us taller folks, and a good view from all seats.Fancy building, some great shows, it's rather good.

The Grand is a fabulous old building. I've enjoyed many different shows from comedy to plays to panto. They regularly get the newest, up and coming comedians and I have recently seen Lee Evans here. The atmosphere is completely different to newer buildings and it somehow feels more 'special' going to an old theatre.
It doesn't matter where you sit, unless it's restricted viewing, you can always see whoevers on stage. Compare seeing Lee Evans at The Grand to seeing him from the back of Birmingham NEC.
Leg room isn't great even though I was told this would be improved during the refurbishment (and I'm only five feet six). And you can't take drinks from the bar area into the auditorium. Drinks aren't cheap (Â£2.70 a bottle of lager) but not too expensive.

This is a fabulous venue with bucketloads of character and charm. It is centrally located near lots of eating and drinking establishments which adds to its appeal for an evening out.

Although there is a lot of comedy on here you'll also find a lot of music acts on too- particularly the more popular singers/groups on the folk circuit as well as local (ish) talent. Recent gigs include for example yorkshire acts Kate Rusby, Liza Carthy and Waking the Witch.

The only down side to this this venue (hence only four stars) is the lack of disabled access. There is a large amount of stairs and no lift. The wheelchair spaces (such as they are) are in fact the small gaps next to the pillars holding the ceiling up- restricted view in other words.

There is currently a mammoth fundraising effort to modernise the beautiful victorial building so that all patrons can enjoy it and lifts etc can be installed. Although some funding has been granted (by national heritage I think)they are still a long way off their target.

Has good sized screens, shows pretty much all of the newly released films and is conviniently close to the city centre. However the cinema does have a tendency to have the sound at deafening levels, especially when showing action movies.

Offers a good selection of cinema snacks including a ben and jerry's icecream bar. Tickets are fairly expensive, but worth the money and you can get 2 for the price of one on Wednesdays if you have an orange phone, which is definitely worth doing.

This place is strictly over 18's only. It has a large selection of machines with different jackpots ranging from 10 pounds to 500 pounds. it open long hours and the staff are always really helpful and friendly. There is refreshment avaible which include sandwichs and cakes as well as hot and cold drinks. It seem pretty popular and you see regular faces in there. Can't say i've ever managed to win much but i'm not great on fruit machines my partner has won a few jackpots from here over the years but I guess it just depends many more times i'm sure he's lost his money. There's a toilet located downstairs as well. So if your feeling lucky might be worth trying for that big jackpot.This place is strictly over 18's only. I wouldn't normally give a 5 star rating to a cinema, but this is no ordinary cinema.

First of all, the Ster Century chain of 7 cinemas was taken over by Vue a couple of years ago, so it's now Vue - Leeds The Light.

It's set in a retail and hotel complex that was once
a bank's head office. You couldn't tell that from looking at it though.

Buildings have been merged by glass walls and ceilings. If you didn't know the history of the building you'd be forgiven for thinking the cinema was designed and built from scratch.

It's the most spacious I've ever sat in. The cinema screens are absolutely massive, beaten only by the few IMEX screens around the country.

The sound quality is equally amazing.
