If you have been to the city art gallery or the Henry Moore institute it is worth visiting the gift shop to round off the day as it were. My only real gripe is that aside from a few cheap bits of regular old tat, the actual hand made pieces for sale are way overpriced (since the artists are not actually well known). Obviously I expect a bit of labour & profit mark-up, but the prices are a bit silly.

Staff are nice and the shop is worth a look but unless you are a bit of a collector or looking for a really unusual special present it's not really a place you impulse buy from or get a decent bargain from.

Just like the exceptional, wonderful Leeds City Art Gallery tagged onto it's side, the Henry Moore Institute is something Leeds can be very, very proud of.

It's free to visit, and it has a good hour or more of browsing time. It has a small coffee bar, a gift shop and there are lots of staff on hand to help with any queries.

It's easily accessible from the Headrow and by rail or bus and certainly worth taking your family to have a look.

I cannot echo the other poster on here enough, Leeds City Art Gallery is excellent, it is modern (yet with traditional art on show also), welcoming, not stuffy or pretentious, always busy, well used and a fantastic addition to the city's art and culture venues. And of course, it is free to visit, which is exceptional, since I don't think anyone would mind a pound or two for charity to view such a wonderful selection of art.

You can bring your partner, family or kids here, it really is a venue for all.

It has excellent facilities (cafe bar, library, gift shop) and disabled amenities also.
